First time here and last too many other options, Ordered the sesame chicken special, pineapple chicken house specialty and veggie fried rice it was edible and affordable but the taste was bland and rice was mush. I've been a steady customer for a few years. Something changed here, possibly the chef/cook. Egg drop soup was darkly colored and had a different flavor - didn't like it much. I like chicken with almonds and they can't get almonds so I had chicken broccoli. They asked me what kind of sauce I wanted and I said whatever you normally use. Not good enough so I chose brown sauce. It was OK. Chicken fried rice was probably the best dish. I'm going to try all the other Chinese restaurants before I come back here. read more

Two times in a row they messed up my order and both times they argued with me that I had actually ordered what they gave me.....seriously? Only a business that could care less about their customers makes it a point to argue with their patrons. The food is remarkably average and Valpo has numerous other excellent Chinese restaurants that actually treat their customers with respect. The bottom line is that if you're asking me to take the money out of my wallet and put it in your wallet then you need to 1. have something I want, and 2. show me the barest modicum of respect. Ordered from here tonight. We ordered 2 orders of crab rangoon, beef egg foo young, large beef fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, two egg rolls and one shrimp egg roll. Let me see where do I begin.. The crab rangoon was SOUR like it had defrosted and sat, and when it cooked turn into a rock. The fried rice had HUGE chunks of onion in it. Tasted more onion than rice, meat etc. The cabbage in the in the shrimp egg roll tasted like fish oil. For those of you who take fish oil pills you know what im talking about. Not a pleasant taste. THEN when we called to complain he said the chef was there all day... may have been tired. Thats your excuse??? We also didnt have a menu so we looked it up online. Even though the page was updated to 2014 our order came out to a $13 difference. We paid more than we wanted. Great Chinese take-out. Not a great egg roll but edible. The fried rice, veggies and chicken/beef are always fresh. Hunan chicken combination is always a winner. While I can't guarantee it, if you walk in your order be sure to drop a tip in the jar to jump to the front of the chefs' queue. read more

Having recently moved to Valparaiso from Chicago, I was looking for a new Chinese restaurant. My boyfriend and I ordered take out from New Dragon tonight and it was simply awful, l know I have high expectations having been spoiled with the wonderful Chinese restaurants in Chicago but we could find nothing good to say about our food. I had the steamed dumplings and the orange chicken. The steamed dumplings were undercooked and contained what appeared to be barbecued meat in them which I am not use to. The orange chicken was bland and had what looked like tree bark in it. My boyfriend had the chicken with cashews and an eggroll and was not impressed with either one. We will have to keep looking to find a good Chinese restaurant and we will definitely not be ordering from New Dragon again. read more
