I can't believe I've never reviewed this place before. Hands down my favorite sandwich place. Terrific sandwiches, great fries, a high quality clam chowder, and a staff that just makes you smile even on your most lousy of days. If you're going for carry out or dining in then this is a must get to place for a good meal. I have exactly one criticism for them. Their sandwiches are big as are their wraps and I wish they'd sell a half size option. That said, quality is off the charts. Long story short. This is a place that get a truly delicious sandwich. DO NOT ORDER FOOD DELIVERY FROM THEM. unless you want you food to take a lot longer to arrive just to be cold, do not order from them!!! Apparently they don't consider delivery orders important. I work as a delivery driver for grubhub and Uber eats, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I've ever had to pick up an order from them, I'm ignored and given unwarranted attitude from the cashiers. EVERY TIME. They've told me "they're too busy"; yet, proceeded to help every other customer, included the ones that arrived much later than me. If I'm only there FOR A CUSTOMER, how does that make any sense??? I've always been polite to every single one of the cashiers. I patiently wait for my turn. And yet, I get nothing but anger back. Perhaps New England Roast Beef fins delivery orders to be too much of an inconvenience? You'd think they'd appreciate the extra business and would WANT TO assist the drivers promptly to ensure future deliveries. you'd also think they'd want to limit the number of people in their store. But nope, they will make delivery drivers stand around, waiting, for an extra 15-20 minutes; even when the customer's food has been sitting there ready to go. Again, DO NOT order food delivery from New England Roast Beef. The Roast Beef restaurant in AUBURN is always much quicker and MUCH more pleasant to deal with. read more

Stopped by this placed today, noticed it too late to just pull in had to go around the block, I'm very glad I took the time to stop. Ordered the super beef, roast beef (rare), BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, cheese on an onion roll. Roast beef was cooked perfectly, the right amount of BBQ sauce and horseradish sauce, sandwich was a bit messy, but that is ok. Not the right sandwich to try eating while driving down the road. I have been coming here for over 10 years! I get the same thing every time... the roast beef combination plate on an onion roll with BBQ sauce. It comes with French fries and onion rings... THE BEST!! So crispy and delicious!Their BBQ is the most amazing sauce I've ever tasted!! I drench the sandwich with the BBQ sauce and I also use it to dip my fries and onion rings in! On Saturday evening 11/14/20 at about 7:00 pm I had a craving for a Philly steak and cheese sandwich. So, I went to New England Roast Beef. I ordered two small sandwiches and was told they only have one size LARGE, so I ordered two even though the price was high..for takeout. After a long wait, I got the sandwiches which came to $23.45...WOW!! I got home to enjoy the sandwiches, and what did I find....the steak looked like it had been run through a blender. The pieces were tiny fragments that fell out of the sandwich as soon as you picked it up. The chef had overcooked it, it was dry as leather. The sandwiches ended up in the basket where they belonged. What a disappointment. I believe this is called unarmed robbery. I don't recommend it stay away! I give it no stars. read more

Since moving to New England, we've been introduced to numerous food traditions. Today, I hit yet another: Roast Beef. On our travels through the region, we've noticed, on any number of occasions, small joints with 'Roast Beef' as part of their name. We've seen enough of the these places that my curiosity was piqued. Well, as of today, a virgin no more. Following a morning of research at the American Antiquarian Society, the receptionist recommended New England Roast Beef for a quick bite. I had the roast beef. Following this meal all I can say is this: how DARE Arby's even BEGIN to claim they sell roast beef! The meat on my sandwich was beautifully cooked and very tasty. One of my dining partners had a lobster roll and declared it delicious while another had a crab salad and also proclaimed 'delicious.' Serve was friendly and fast, definitely local! The next time I nibble on a bit of Roast Beef, I now have a standard by which to compare. Look forward to further research and more sandwiches! read more

Like most local joints it pays to know what / how to order things to try the place at it's best. Try this order: Superbeef sandwhich w/ L-T-O, cheddar sauce and horseradish, and a small fries. Oh and grab a peanut butter cookie (thank me later) The roast beef here is fresh, thin sliced, warmed on the grill and plentiful. Tender and easy to bite through without issue, served warm and delicious. The onion bulkie is large, fresh and excellent for flavor. The fixings add to it and I am a big fan of the cheddar sauce plus horseradish mayo. The fries here are EXCELLENT beer battered fries with a tasty subtle salty sweetness along with a nice texture. Be warned you may get addicted like I did and have to put in extra time at the gym. Another fav of mine are the Grecian chicken sandwich. The fresh Peanut Butter cookies they make are massive, chewy, amazing with the reeses cup fillings. Sometimes I stop here just for those. My fiance and I definately thought we found a gem with this place when we first went here about 4 years back. Their sandwiches are amazing, and huge for a good price. However, my favorite thing about this place: the clam chowder. So thick and creamy with skin-still-on potatoes. I LOVE this stuff. Also, the service is great. We went there often when we lived in Worceser and became very friendly with Libby who worked there. She knew us well and was always interested in how we were and what was going on with us. Ordered their junior beef with lettuce, tomato, mustard and horseradish. Thought it was suppose to be a warm sandwich but it wasnt. But overall, let me say the junior sandwich is not that small at all. I can't imagine the regular. Onion rings were pretty good. Can be better Went in around 12 and there were people waiting in line. The staff was in a rush, and when ordering, I felt like I have to rush as well or I felt like I was taking up too long even though my ordered time was less than a minute. Huge selection of roast beef sandwiches named after colleges located in Worcester. They also have quite a few chicken sandwiches and side dishes. I highly recommend the french fries, but would advise to stay away from the buffalo wings. For the price, it's a good option for a quick lunch, but better sandwiches can definitely be found in Worcester - Regatta and Busel n' Peck to name a couple. read more

aok i pose. i only had their roast beef (sounded like the thing to do) so take this 3 star review at name value, i did not have fries, rings (i know this is hard to believe) wings, etc RB on a sesame bun with cheddar and bbq sauce. my thoughts, its aok. the beef was coldish, the sauce a bit thin, but with a kick, and i believe that was wiz. nothing crashing my car over nor not someplace i wouldnt consider going forward, but seeing as its next to imposable to get anywhere in this town on my lunch hour, i may consider going back there in the future. tomorrow? not needed, next week? same, month, again.... decor is what you would think it would be and they play country music, right up my alley (jk) glad to be able to yelp something though. beefie read more

Hands down one of my favorite places to pick up a sandwich. We have ordered from here quite a few times. The sandwiches are huge and fresh. The staff here is awesome. They keep all the orders moving and they have always been timely and friendly. The place itself is small, I have never sat in to eat because we live so close. Their Roast beef is the best I have ever had. I had tried a few of their other sandwiches which are equally as delicious. Their fries and onion rings are an addiction. I usually am not an onion ring fan except when we order from here. Definitely the place to go if you want delicious sandwiches that you can make multiple meals out of. This is an okay sandwich shop here in Worcester. Ate there tonight and got a cheeseburger and some wings on the side. The burger was just okay and the wings were also just okay. The thing here is the sandwiches though which are pretty good. I will give an updated review of the food next time I come in. Decor inside isn't super stylish but it is nice and clean and you can tell the owners take it seriously which is a bit of a step up from most Worcester take out type places. I love NERB...it's the perfect place for that big sandwich and jumbo fries that you're craving. Sometimes you're looking for a great deli that offers a lot more than just cold sandwiches, and NERB makes that happen. I'm a fan of "The Richmond" and "The Steak Bomb", personally. We've been going to NERB for years, and it's been consistently reliable and delicious. My gf and I are vegan, but our kids get the sandwiches, and they have the best fries in town! I especially appreciated their post-COVID protocols: everyone safely masked, new machines installed, VERY quick takeout - I was probably in there for 90 seconds max. My bf lived in Worcester for years. My daughter started at WSU this year. He said we have to go here for the grinders. Every trip to Worcester we have to stop here. Their roast beef is amazing. Our favorite is the WPI. It's rare, tender and tasty roast beef with onions, tomatoes, American cheese and this amazing horseradish sauce on a soft roll is SO good. It's all I ever order. Every couple of month's, a friend and I have to come to Worcester for a doctors appointment. We always stop somewhere to eat, but haven't found "the" place....until now! The roast beef sandwich was one of the best that I've ever had! My friend got a salad with steak tips, and it was absolutely delicious. Reuben sandwich was great! It was big and I thought I would just eat half. But when the corned beef is this delicious on toasted dark rye bread with well proportioned dressing, kraut and cheese, I couldn't let the other half go to leftovers. So I finished both halves. There I admitted it. I did not make a platter, but the sandwich didn't need anything else. The menu looks as to be on the pricier side, BUT the quality & quantity made me feel like I got my money's worth. I have also tried the Philly cheese steak which was very meaty and I only ate half the sandwich because it filled me up. I can only rate the roast beef sandwiches, because I'm so addicted to them I'm not even interested in trying anything else ... yet! I recently moved to Worcester, so have been trying various restaurants recommended by friends and coworkers, as well as on Yelp. If you are craving a juicy, delicious, extremely fresh, rare roast beef sandwich, this is the place to get it. I'm originally from the NY metropolitan area where there are delis on every corner (or at least there used to be, until Starbucks came east), so I grew up eating great sandwiches. It's been difficult to find anything that even comes close to the outstanding quality I assumed could be found at any deli. New England Roast Beef rocks!
