I was scheduled for a service window between 8:30-10:00 AM this past Friday, and right at 8:00 AM I received a confirmation call from Laura, which I really appreciated. Even better, Pierce arrived promptly, just after 8:30AM and appeared extremely professional and ready to get to work. Pierce was extremely respectful, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I showed him the issues I was having with a toilet and two sinks, and he carefully explained what was going on in a way that made complete sense. He stepped back out to his van to coordinate with Laura on pricing, and within minutes had clear, straightforward options with numbers for me on how we could approach the problems. The pricing was very reasonable, and they even offered bundling discounts, which made it an incredible value! (Especially for the level of professionalism and quality service they provide.) It is rare to find a company where you genuinely feel comfortable having someone in your home, but that's exactly how I felt with Pierce. We went out to look at them and it looked cheap and flimsy. My dad insisted I call Western and they quoted me a flat rate of $1150. No thanks. But husband insisted we use them in case there was a problem with us installing it. Jay came out the next day and fiddled around and since our house is so old, there were a few installation problems. He had to use a different model because of size limitations, and while wait for his partner to bring it, totally redid the piping. He also vaccummed and cleaned the area. He installed the Ruud unit nicely and it took over 3.5 hours. I was very impressed with everything that day but the icing on the cake??? Yesterday we got a $350 rebate in the mail from Alagasco. We didn't fill out anything..they did! We will use that rebate to install a new oven now. Nice surprise!

Negatives: I was charged $600 (in addition to the higher weekend fee to come out) for a repair that took 20 minutes and required no parts. It was two different charges that didn't really make sense because you couldn't have really done one without the other. It felt like I was taken advantage of as a single woman on a holiday weekend who didn't know how easy/quick the repair would be when I agreed to the cost. The service man also told me that the credit card payment on his tablet wasn't working so I had to pay by check. I wasn't planning to dispute a charge, but this made it to where I didn't have the option. I responded to two different text surveys with this rating and information and was assured both times that the service manager would follow up and they never did. My father also called multiple times and never got follow up. I was waiting until we heard back from them before I posted a negative review (I communicated this to them), but it's now been over 4 weeks. I have used them for repairs before without issue, but will not be using them again and would not recommend them to my friends/family/neighbors.

My basement renovation is being completed in phases, and the bathroom was the priority so it could be functional while we wait for the kitchen cabinets and counters to arrive. After payment was made, I had difficulty getting the bathroom portion fully completed. When he returned, the toilet was mounted but the remaining items needed to finish the bathroom were not installed. I was told the remaining parts could not be located, but they were actually in the shower area in the delivery boxes. When I asked about finishing the bathroom, I was told the work would not be completed until the kitchen cabinets arrive, which may be several weeks away. In my experience, the communication and customer service changed after payment was made. I was also asked to pay the full amount before the job was finished, which I later learned from the inspector is not always typical practice. Because the bathroom portion of the work remains incomplete and the timeline for finishing it is uncertain, this has been a frustrating experience. Based on my experience, I would likely choose a different contractor for future work. I am currently in the process of filing a complaint with the plumbers and gas fitters exhibiting board. I will also continue to seek legal action for the unfinished work as he has made it clear he will not do the work until he's ready to do it. Update: After a week he finally responded to an e-mail I sent to the company, and to my surprise, he contacted the City of Fultondale and came off the project (after I've paid him $4,000). I have left a message I received from him earlier regarding his conduct with customers.
