Cheap Chinese food is not overly abundant in Hell's Kitchen, and quality can vary significantly. I was pleased to find that, for the price, New Food King was highly satisfactory. I ordered two lunch specials and a large broccoli in garlic sauce. Paid in cash (there's an ATM inside) and waited maybe five minutes or so. The big bag of food was hefty and I had so much leftover fried rice from the lunch specials that I stayed fed for days. The beef lo mein is a confirmed winner, I would definitely order that again. General tso's chicken was decent (I like it a little crispier), combo with bites of rice and broccoli for the best experience. The egg roll was an egg roll and the hot and sour soup was just a soup. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could. I'm being generous since restaurants like this are valuable additions to the neighborhood. I hope they stay in business a long time. read more

Solid Chinese food at affordable prices! I've had the Sesame Chicken Combo (w/ Egg Roll) and Shrimp w/ Lobster Sauce Combo (w/ Egg Drop Soup) so far. The sesame chicken was fine, though some of the pieces were slightly on the firmer side, likely because they're cut a bit smaller than what I'm used to. The shrimp w/ lobster sauce is pretty good and it's my favorite item so far. The egg roll and egg drop soup were both pretty standard. My husband is a huge fan of half a fried chicken and pork fried rice. It is his go-to meal when in New York (he claims we don't have this in LA, so he tries to get his fill whenever we make the trip). Seeing as how this place was close to where we were staying, we decided to jump in. To say he was satisfied with his meal is an understatement. Granted I ordered this from seamless which made the total price. Ridiculous. I ordered about $49 worth of food. But would seamless. The whole amount came up to $70. However I did not. I asked for utensils to come with the order and there were only four plates and four forks. If there are about $49 worth of food, I would think that there would be more people eating than just four. "Foo King" the restaurant in early 2010 mostly only known to the neighborhood locals around 10th Avenue/Hell's Kitchen. Its a typical Chinese restaurant that specializes in take out and delivery so you won't be sitting down there for a good meal. But I love that they use their name to describe everything. Inexpensive? If you follow my reviews, you'll see that I just wrote one for Kam-Wei's Chinese Kitchen. It's just four short blocks away from Foo King. But oh, those 4 short blocks make a world of difference. I've been going to Foo King (don't say their name too fast) for over 10 years. One reason is because I live across the street. The other is because they are simply the best cheap quick and tasty Chinese food in Hell's Kitchen. Been here three times now as I always find a spot for my truck in front. The food has been good so far, General Tso's and Kung Pao tasted great and had a good amount of spice to them. Chicken and Broccoli was OK ... thought the brown sauce was slightly bland that day. One thing to note is that they normally serve a tasteless yellow rice (think of the Spanish variety) with their lunch specials. Great Chinese food. I have no idea how other people are complaining. I tend to order the shrimp with lobster sauce dinner with pork fried rice and the wonton soup: total meal cost $7.25. As for a comment stating the soup resembles the color of urine; maybe there is something wrong with their urine. The pork fried rice that accompanies the shrimp is well done; And has legitimate pieces of pork. Not the little niblits other places give you. Moving onto the shrimp. This is the only place in the entire world (yes my passport says so) that actually peels the shell off of the tail. I can't tell you how happy I am that I don't have to cut the tail off of every shrimp as I eat. It's probably my biggest pet peeve. Whenever I cook, I always take the extra two seconds to take the shell off of the entire shrimp. Lastly, I've physically been there and the place is pretty standard for a takeout Chinese place. However, they are always busy and the service is quick. I like seeing that. The last thing I want to see is a dead shop. That typically means the food turnover is low. They provide plenty of food and the quality is good compared to some of the other hit or miss hole in the wall spots. Can't speak on any of their other food.
