Frankly, I am quite surprised to read all the fabulous reviews about this company. I am starting to think that they are all written by the owner himself or some of his family members. On three occasions, we made appointments with Eugene, the owner of the company, and all three times he stood us up. I get it, the guy is so "GOOD" that everyone is hiring him and he has no time for new projects. We live in Denton. The third time we made the appointment, I asked him if he was interested in our project or should we look for someone else. When I finally heard back from him, he asked us to give him another chance and assured us that he was going to honor his word. After three times of waiting for him to show and he never called to reschedule or explain himself, we decided to move on. Lesson learned! You cannot always trust the reviews and comments people are leaving. Because what is too good to be true... is NOT true. In retrospect, I am glad that it happened at this point rather than after he started the work and leaving us hanging. read more

This group did a wonderful job on a project we had that involved several types of work to include grading, sod, sprinkler system repair and pavers. They were on time daily, provided a very complete and professional quote detailing the work to be done and came in on budget. They will be used again on our next project! read more

We received three bids to remove old grass/weeds, amend a drainage issue, and lay new sod for a large back yard. New Horizons' bid was in the middle. Eugene, the owner, was professional and was the only person to actually send me an email with the proposed job and quoted price. We discovered him on a wonderful Next door review. He was very prompt when meeting with us for an estimate. But I will admit, he does have some problems with timely communication and I had to email/text him several times before I got a response to a couple of questions. But he did finally give me a date for the job. On that day, he and his crew of three arrived on time and ready to work. Throughout the total project, he had various extra workers, multiple pieces of equipment, and a dump truck full of fill dirt. The crew and Eugene worked nearly non-stop to complete the job. When the original 6 pallets of sod were not enough, Eugene immediately went to pick up 2 more pallets. They laid sod until nearly dark. We were given detailed instructions on a watering schedule. When we turned on the sprinklers soon after they left, we realized they had not been reset and were all wrong. I sent Eugene a text and he returned 30 minutes later and fixed them all, in the dark! I know he had to be exhausted and also knew he had about an hour drive to get to his home. But he was committed to finishing the job and knew the sprinklers needed corrected immediately so that we could begin the watering schedule. The original bid had to be adjusted for the additional sod, but Eugene charged me his "cost" price and no extra for labor. I think New Horizons Design and Build are going through some "growing" pains and hopefully with get better organized with their communication (the only reason I did not give a 5 star review) but I would not hesitate to use them again for additional projects. By the way, I am not family and met Eugene only a few weeks ago when he came out for the original bid! read more

It appears this company does not need any more business. I was impressed by the reviews and gave them a call. They answered and said to text him and they would get back to me. I texted and didn't hear back from them. So I texted again in case there had been some problem and they had missed my text. Still haven't heard back. It has been three weeks. I know they may be busy, but the courtesy of a call or a recording when you call saying they are unable to take on more business would've been appreciated. After reading Carmen's review, it does make me wonder if the reviews are true or not. read more

I interviewed scores of landscaper before finding this one, literally scores. There were red flags flying all over the place with many, not all. I had decided against using DG as a ground cover as suggested by one of the interviewees. I went with Bermuda. Today, the company showed up right on time to do this project---there were three of them including the owner. The project included----Old grass out with stepping stones and new grass with topsoil in. Three loose fence post repaired, wood step to my retaining wall repaired and hand painted, holes on retaining wall filled in and flagstone stepping stones and new sod added. they added a cemented brick and stone edging on a corner rock bed. A HUGE power washing job which included a lonnnng stone retaining wall, a very large patio, a small patio, flagstone under my smaller pergola, front porch and steps. I watched him clean areas not discussed. They fixed a couple of sprinkler heads that I had already paid to have repaired by someone else. A very neat and tidy cleanup. All trash carried away. This job reads as a small one. There was nothing small about it. It took all day because they did it right. I was so pleased, I gave him an additional amount. Another thing I like about this company is his two employees are salaried. He also sends a detail of the work agreed to by email beforehand. These are young men in their thirties. Eugene, and his crew Christian and Carlos were so easy to work with. Eugene knows his business and took care of us, even with the Texas weather interruptions. They left the workspace clean and took great care so as not to destroy our new sod. Please spend a little extra money and hire these hard working men--dont waste your money on DIY--There won't be any mistakes. Above all you won't be disappointed. His work is impeccable. read more

They do amazing work!! I called them and they came out the next day to take care of my front and back yard. I got home from work to a transformed yard. They did the edging, mowed the lawn, pulled weeds, trimmed trees, shaped bushes and no grass clippings in my pool either!! I am so impressed with their intentional work to make my yard beautiful!!! I got a recommendation on Nextdoor from Geronimo (Who works for New Horizon Services) to use their company for our landscape and after seeing their work I booked a consultation online. Eugene (Geronimo's brother) came out and we talked to him about what we wanted to have done and told us his company was booked out for 3 weeks (Which we totally understood because it's spring season) but that he would send over the landscape design in 2 days. 2 days past, no response. The following day we called, he picked up and said he didn't see our text message but that he would make sure to send over the landscape design as soon as possible. We waited a whole week and never got the design. I reached out to Geronimo on Nextdoor to let him know what happened and said he would talk to him. Reached out again to follow up with him and he said, "Hi Stefanie, Eugene got to busy and won't be able to do it but can recommend someone else." Unbelievable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANY LANDSCAPE SERVICES. They are so unprofessional and lack communication. If only they could've told us they were too busy and couldn't take new clients we could've started the process to look for another landscape company. read more
