I came here with my friend to do a vinyasa class while in town. While I have no complaints about…read morethe instruction or the actual yoga, the atmosphere of this studio is very unusual. It's in a sort of industrial warehouse space. Very high ceilings and little sound proofing between the studios. While I was attending the class, I was really bothered by the amount of noise coming from a group of teenage girls who I think were doing aerial yoga in another studio. Really killed the vibe of the vinyasa class especially during the relaxation portion in the last 10 minutes. Also, this studio is very dog friendly, so folks with allergies please note this. Especially in the entry way, there were a couple dogs including one that appears to belong to the owners. Not sure I'd come back here which is not something I say lightly about a yoga studio.

I have been going to this studio for a year and there is nothing like it! Jessica (owner and…read moreinstructor) teaches both yoga and aerial strengthening classes. My personal favorite are the aerial classes, which have changed my body in ways that other fitness classes have failed. Jessica challenges and pushes you in every class, but if you are a beginner or have injuries, she modifies the exercises specific to your needs. Also, which is extremely important for me, she changes the classes every time to avoid boredom and so your body doesn't get used to the same movements. Other great pluses are the Rockband class - an hour of nonstop cardio hitting wood blocks with drum sticks and Aerial Cirque d Soleil class - performing aerial acrobatics in the swing. She also coordinates a team for obstacle/running events held locally (i.e. warrior dash, urban raid, inflatable 5K, etc) and has a couple weeks out of the year teaching kids specifically. Overall, the atmosphere at the studio (and owner) is warm, welcoming, fun, and challenging. A MUST studio to check out!

Very nice hot yoga studio conveniently located on Osborne off of Albany Shaker. The studio is small…read morewith just one studio space but it is fresh, new and clean. The heating elements drop down from the ceiling: cool and unexpected. They have vibrant color changing lights that give the place a festive feel. Mirrors cover one wall. Well organized props. Lot parking with some spaces reserved for the studio. I did their $10 for 10 days Black Friday special and enjoyed several of their classes including some excellent unheated yin classes with Cassandra and some flex, flow and power vinyasa classes. I really loved that Cassandra allowed you to rest and meditate in the postures and was not overly talkative during the class. The hottest class I took here was up to 99 degrees. They also have a Bikram style class at 105. The $10 for 10 days special was an amazing value but their drop ins are $30 and their 10 class pack is $269. Their monthly membership is pretty reasonable for $129 if you practice frequently. I'd love to come back to this studio occasionally but don't want to pay so much for a drop in or ten class. If I didn't currently have a lot of passes at other studios right now I'd do their monthly membership as that's definitely worth the price. Experienced instructors. I liked the vibe here a lot. One of the owners was around to greet folks before class for a few classes I attended and was very friendly. The other yoga practitioners here also seemed pretty chill and nonjudgmental unlike some other studios in the area where you find some snobbishness and oneupmanship. Pretty five star experience but subtracting a star for the priciness of the drop ins and 10 class packs. Definitely encourage you to give it a try as their regular new member special is a great deal for four weeks at $39. The owner told me they may be adding Pilates to the schedule. I will keep an eye on their website and may consider the monthly when my passes at other studios expire. I also like that they have classes later in the evening and on Saturday afternoons. Happy that I checked this place out.

I am so glad that I finally took the time to invite yoga into my life. If you're a beginner, like…read moremyself, the Center for Nia & Yoga is such a comfortable and non-judgemental place to embark on your first real yoga journey. However, the classes are filled with many a level of expertise, so whether you've practiced for years or not, there is definitely a place for you. I am taking Kat Abram's classes and she is pretty fantastic. She is open and encouraging, and not at all intimidating. She wants you to be comfortable and her classes are very invigorating; both spiritually and physically. I have only been to 3 classes and I can already feel my body in a different way. It's funny how you can become aware of something, and then suddeny because of this, that thing starts to change. In this case, that thing is my body, and it is wonderful. Aside from all the personal fulfillment, it's also super local and pretty affordable. It's located right where Washington and Lark intersect. The yoga studio is on the second floor and the space is perfect. The room is strewn with persian rugs and there is a constant flow of light leaking in through the tall windows, making the room open and bright. Needless to say, it is a very comfortable environment for stretching, breathing, and meditating. My package cost about $120 for 7 classes; not too bad, if you ask me. It is pretty fantastic to treat yourself to something like yoga at least once a week. There are a variety of teachers and classes and they offering everything from meditation to djembe drumming. As you can see, there is something for everyone. Take a day out of your busy life and do something for yourself! Check out the Center for Nia & Yoga. Drop by and try out a class. You won't regret it.
