Great place to stop when on a journey on route 17. I saw the billboard and wanted to avoid chains. Great find! I love Greek food so had dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and a Greek chicken lunch special. Friendly place & clean. I left a notepad with some key figures on it and when I called one of the sons tezted a picture of the data. Saved the day! The New Munson Diner is a reboot, under new owners (a couple of years ago?) and it looks like they nailed it! I love diners, but many are mediocre, using pre-made items and relying on the freezer and cans. New Munson makes it from scratch and makes food quality their priority. I am reluctant to order French toast because so often, it's not well made and served with "table syrup," which is maybe ok if you eat tables, but has never been near a maple tree. New Munson's french toast was fluffy and fresh. Thick slices, made from brioche bread that they make in house. Very good, but if I may quibble, I would have liked it cooked more, to give a crisp edge. I gladly paid the $2 charge for real maple, which came in a generous pitcher, warmed in a hot water bath. Corned beef hash (another item I order with some reluctance because few get it right) was delicious with a perfectly cooked, over-medium egg. Good hash browns, deeply browned. The diner itself was shipped to Liberty from New York. It was used for a few Seinfeld episodes, which they won't let you forget, as there are posters and photos from the who all over. Once you get past the Seinfeld lore, it's a classic diner with fabulous food and fast, friendly service. Clean, modem, bright, and fun. The friendly place in town. It's a typical diner, but it was the people that made the difference. The menu was your typical diner menu which included everything from breakfast to dinner. My husband ordered the gyro platter and it got a chicken panini. The staff was friendly and you could tell that a lot of locals came here. Our bill came to $30 for 2 complete meals. We went to this diner for breakfast/brunch after the Chris Stapleton concert, and we agreed with the other great reviews. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and fast, and we had our own private area for the 11 of us our on the porch. They also adjusted the air-conditioning to cool the room down for us. I would absolutely go there again in a heartbeat. The blueberry and banana pancakes were amazing, as well as the eggs Benedict. This meal came with the salad and bread but the meal was tasteless. Yes, I know it was only $13 dollars but It sucks when your hungry and the food you order is nasty. After reading recent reviews posted, we decided to give The New Munson Diner a try for late breakfast and early lunch. The parking lot is large and accommodating, the landscaping is freshly maintained. We entered and were greeted warmly by the host. Then served by a friendly waitress. Iced water was brought to the freshly cleaner table almost immediately by an older man/busboy. I ordered an omelet and French fries with a toasted English muffin. I was brought a tomato and feta cheese well done omelet not overly filled with too much of either ingredient. The fries were good, could have been a bit hotter. The toasted English muffin was large, pre buttered and came with 1 each packet of strawberry and grape jam. The cheese burger was cooked to order a perfect medium with American cheese and the slice of tomato with crisp iceberg lettuce all served on a fresh brioche bun. We will have to come back to dine again and be hungry enough for dessert because those looked pretty tempting read more

Fantastic diner experience. Food was superb and service my Karen (from White Stone) was very personal and quick. Like eating at a friend's house - at least one who knows how to cook very well Very clean throughout including spacious washrooms. The stew felt like it was assembled by order and not out of a giant kettle. The beef melted in your mouth while the potatoes and veggies were still fresh and firm. The soup was very flavourable and served piping hot. We ended up ordering more soup and sandwiches from the special menu to go so we had later for dinner in the hotel we were driving to. SUPER excited to find out that this is the Bizarro diner from Seinfeld - make sure to look up the story of how it was moved from Manhattan. Bonkers. We weren't aware of its history when we stopped for a quick dinner while on a road trip. The food itself was not impressive, with the exception of the absolutely perfect pita presented as an appetizer. I wish I'd ordered more of it. My tuna melt was just okay - the cheese was a bit odd (see photo). Service was okay, but paying the check was unnecessarily confusing and I'm pretty sure they added a tip to the charge even though I told them we'd left cash on the table. I love the backstory to this diner -- that it moved from Manhattan back in 2005 completely as is -- which is why we stopped here for lunch one day. The French toast was deliciously eggy and the hashbrowns were nice and crisp. The coffee was always hot and the refills were plenty. In my previous review I had mentioned that the new Munson diner was the best diner in liberty I was wrong it is the best diner in Sullivan County! They are always friendly when you walk in and the food is always great and you can't say that about too many other diners in the area I won't mention names but there's some in Liberty and Monticello that are not very good I've been on a pancake kick lately and the hungry man special is excellent and a good value! read more

Went yesterday for dinner. Usually very good. Not 8/25/2021. Maybe the waitress was new. Wife got salad I got soup, had to ask for my soup. Wife ordered brisket so so. I ordered chopped seriloin, medium rear. Only vegetable besides potatoes was carrots. My seriloin came out as steak not chopped. Also medium almost well done. Don't let the diner facade fool you, this place is legit and it's delicious. First of all, the service from the minute we stepped in was phenomenal. The waitress admitted it was her 3rd day but she was a rockstar. The food was so good, I ordered Marsala based on the owner boasting it was the best around and I took on his challenge.... it was better than most Italian places in the area. The sauce was incredible. We didn't have to ask for any refills, there were no hiccups on a really busy evening, I was more than surprised as this wonderful diner. I've eaten at the "Munson diner" many of times since it opened the first time around 2006. I think that it started out pretty good with the first owner but it didn't survive due to mismanagement. Then it steadily slipped downhill with each owner. When I saw the "New Munson Diner" open last year under the current owner, I honestly thought to myself, there goes another dreamer into the meat grinder. He'll learn his lesson real quickly when he looses his shirt. Well, I COULDNT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG. I took my family there this past weekend when I heard some positive things from my father about the current diner. We walked in and we're greeted by John who owns and operates the diner with his father. John was very professional and friendly. The dining room is freshly renovated and has a warm ambience now. The building was always a work in progress and never had an inviting appearance untilThe place is finally properly staffed with cooks, a chef, and a team of waiters. The food was delicious and was prepared in a timely manor. Service was great. If you've eaten here under previous management, don't let your bad experiences stop you. Go ahead and try it. We could smell the bacon from the road! Drove through town, checked yelp and came back. I got two eggs with bacon and home fries and my wife got an egg and spinach wrap.
