Cute little casual restaurant. The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and told us to take a seat anywhere. He gave us menus and took our drink order. We were there for a late breakfast on our trip down to Poughkeepsie. I haven't had a Bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll in forever and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked egg, bacon was very nice and the roll was soft. The coffee was okay. Sorry, no picture of the sandwich, I ate it pretty quick. Would have absolutely loved to have given them a five but I'm not sure whether it was the chef or the owner, but he was extremely rude for no reason. We ordered multiple appetizers, entrées and dessert, and everything was absolutely delicious, the service staff were all kind and welcoming, and the restaurant was clean. But the gentleman greeted every single person that walked into the restaurant except us and our 11 month old child. I was attempting to give him the benefit of the doubt, but even at the check out register, he made eye contact with us, turned his back and began speaking to someone else. I may consider going back for take out because the food was phenomenal, but I don't think I'll be dining in again as that situation made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. read more

I dined in here with my family and it noticeably took a long time to get our food: it looks like they prioritize takeout customers and serving them first. The ambiance is no-frills but it was a good place to eat with people and you're able to have conversations without shouting to hear each other. The lamb gyro meat was very fresh, juicy, and flavorful. There was a portion in the platter. The rice pilaf was also flavorful and delicious. The Greek salad dressing was also great, not too vinegary. We shared spinach pie bites which were fresh, crispy, and tasty. This place serves homemade, authentic Greek food that tastes delicious. Thanks to fellow yelpers for leading me to Kasos. What a cute little town and this restaurant is tucked on the main street. We stopped for lunch on Friday and were immediately greeted and seated. We were provided a board of daily specials as well as menus. Service is quick and friendly. Of course, my eyes were drawn to the many housemate desserts, which I resisted. Everything seems homemade here even the falafel (which my husband devoured). According to our waitress, food is made fresh to order, though we did not have a long wait. I ordered the Greek lemon chicken soup with orzo and was simply delighted. What a wonderful soup, packed with flavor and full bodied due to the egg rich broth. My boyfriend and I were driving home from upstate and saw a billboard for this restaurant on the highway. We decided to stop in for dinner! There's indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoor. When we walked in we weren't greeted. We had to go up to the counter. After doing so, we were brought to our table. For drinks, my boyfriend asked for a Coke or Pepsi. He was informed it would be a Pepsi. No big deal. However the table behind us was given Coke, and we also heard them say "Coke or Pepsi" I also saw Coke in the cooler. There isn't any fountain soda here, only cans which are $2.90. We were also not shown the specials menu, but other people were. We aren't sure what happened here with this either. We tend to enjoy "specials" as it's something that the restaurant won't always have. For an appetizer we started with Saganaki. Delicious fried cheese. It wasn't heavy at all. For my entree I had chicken souvlaki platter. It wad good, but way too much red onion for my liking. It came with fries and Greek salad. The tzatziki dressing was delicious. The Greek dressing was also good. My boyfriend had the Old fashion gyro open platter. It also had fried and Greek salad. The menu stated that the platters came with fries OR rice. We weren't given the choice and were just given fries. Again, not sure what happened with this either. 4% more if you pay with a card. I tried Kasos for the first time with my wife,sister,my brother-in-law niece,nephew and two dear friends, so there were 8 of us. The food was fresh,delicious and exceptionally well prepared. We all ordered Gyro sandwiches, a falafel plate, spanikopita bites and philly cheese steak quesadillas and delicious homemade strawberry, peach and regular lemonade. My wife and I ordered Pasticio (sp?) Some in our group felt the prices were a bit high, but I felt they were just right for the excellent quality of the food. Went for lunch on my way home from NYC. had a gyro with bacon. Was delicious I always have a Gyro and I love bacon so it was a win win! Plenty of meat on the Gyro. Had fries which were good also. No frills authentic Greek owned diner style restaurant. We came in on a snowy Thursday night and the door was propped open, inviting anyone on Main St. We were seated promptly. I asked if I could charge my phone and was accommodated. Despite our arrival thirty min till closing, and subsequent wrap up after hours, we were never rushed. Our waitress left after bringing water and taking our orders so I can't say that our waters wouldn't have been refilled or silverware brought if a regular scenario. The trash can in the bathroom was bursting. While waiting for our food we browsed the table with olive oil, crackers, cookers, pasta, and other Greek items for sale. Baked treats cover the counter. Friendly greeting. Immediately seated and tended to. Waitress was so pleasant and nice. One of our party can't eat onions so they offered to make fresh homefries without onions. Attended a small birthday celebration at Kasos and we all were most pleased with the service and attention to details as well as suggestions to accommodate a variety of food issues with the guests. The prices are moderate considering the quality of the ingredients. And we enjoyed a bottle of fine Greek wine with our meal. For those who wished non-alchoholic beverages Kasos produces excellent house made Lemonaid and Mangoaid which are delicious. In a little town where the food is pretty basic, bland & boring, Kasos Greek Restaurant is a hidden gem! After a few very disappointing meals at the infamous Roscoe Diner (not recommended; don't know why they're so famous), Kasos really hit the spot. The Lamb Gyro Platter that we ordered was a much welcomed and appreciated meal; It came with french fried and a Greek salad. If I were in Downstate NY (Queens), I probably wouldn't think this was so great but for this area,...it was great! Haha Kasos has a huge menu (see my photos), so there's lots of variety to choose from. They even have breakfast/brunch! Side note (not a big deal but worth mentioning): their menu prices are not updated as prices have increased; and there is a 4% surcharge if paying by credit. I say, I made an impromptu breakfast stop and was pleased at the quality and price! Décor is quaint for a small Greek spot (think white and blue palette with some paintings) but very visually appealing. Food took a very long time (to the server's credit she was the only person there) however was fresh and delicious. This amazing little Greek restaurant is so cute and unassuming. You walk in and you expect you're going to get OK food. What you get is amazing food! Starting out with the grilled octopus which was absolutely perfect. 100% delicious taste and cooked to perfection. The gyros are served with a huge helping of french fries and a delicious Greek salad. The tzatziki sauce was amazing!! The falafel sandwich was perfect. The pita is soft the falafel was moist tender delicious not over sauced & served with a large helping of french fries. Just delicious! The service was perfect and we were greeted by the owner who is front and center making sure that the experience is excellent... ‼DANGEROUS OWNER‼STAY AWAY‼I ordered the pork souvlaki gyro from the waitress, she brings me the pork souvlaki platter which is the same thing but with the salad off the pita and on the side for $7 more. She understood what I had ordered and apologized but the owner refuses to refund me, and says "oh it's only $7". Starts yelling at me and almost gets physical so the waitress holds him back. 10/10 would not go back for your own safety. The Greek salad was delicious with their house balsamic vinaigrette on top! 2nd visit. Food is really good & fresh. My wife hade the falafel pita , which comes with nice Greek style salad. But she forgot to say "no onions". Nicely chopped strong red onions! Her fault, and with a little work, it was fine. But beware the onions. The falafel was excellent, almost creamy inside and actually spread on the pita. I had the Pastitsio), which was also good, with the same salad (but onions are ok with me) We also had the saganaki, fresh and tasty. Are only concern was service was a bit slow. Part of the reason I ordered the Pastitsio was it was a "special " item on the daily board. We were traveling to NYC, and dinner took a bit longer than anticipated.
