I realized my company offered free vision insurance so I thought I might as well take advantage and go for an exam. I made an appointment request online through their website and heard back promptly. Their front desk staff was friendly on the phone and in person. The office is really pretty and welcoming inside. They have a cool fish tank and also a coffee machine that you can help yourself to. It's a modernized office and instead of paperwork you fill out your info on an iPad. Dr. Tran was a friendly guy. My appointment took approximately 40 mins. I got lasik surgery almost two years ago but it's still recommended to come in for an exam every year or so. Overall a nice Optometry office. I just had an appt with Dr. Ta last week and the eye exam went smoothly. She explained everything and I was satisfied with her answers to my questions. I would definitely come back again and I would also recommend Dr. Ta as well as New Optix to friends & family. One suggestion: New Optix should seriously consider carrying the LINDBERG eyewear brand. From my own experiences (I have 3+ LINDBERG frames) and talking to other opticians in the SF Bay area and San Diego, LINDBERG eyewear are very popular among the Asian communities. P.S. For the vision field/peripheral vision testing, please do ask patients to take off their eyeglasses before strapping on the VR goggles to prevent any accidents. read more

TLDR: Doctors are good. Front desk is incompetent. Pricey frames. Go somewhere else if you don't want to be scammed. I had gotten contacts from them earlier in the year with my previous employer's VSP and at the time all I had to pay for was my eye exam and contact lens exam. I had no problem at this point. Since then I've moved onto a new employer and I figured I'd use my VSP before the year is over. So I decided to order more contacts, except the front desk/optician told me there's a copay of $25. And since I have additional eye-ware coverage it was going to be additional $25 for a total of $50 copay to use both. I clarified to them that the material copay of $25 is just for glasses (frame/lense), but they said they ALWAYS have material copay for all frame/lense/contacts. That's already a red flag. There's no such thing as ALWAYS in insurance. Every employer VSP has different coverage. Learn to read. I told them I wasn't charged any copay for my contacts from my previous visit and they told me the optician forgot to charge me for it. I told them that's not the case and they went and took a look at my previous invoice in detail. They're now saying the previous VSP had no copay for contacts, but only copay for eye exam. And that my current VSP has no eye exam copay, but has material copay for contacts. I've had VSP for years and have been through many optometries. I knew this was a load of crap. I've called VSP the next day to clarify my coverage and what do you know - there's no copay for contacts. So the VSP representative gave them a call and what do you know - they started lying! They were saying the person who provided my invoice no longer works there even though they told me lies just the day before. And with VSP on their behind they finally told me there's no copay for my contacts. Crazier part? My wife (she's with the same employer - so same coverage) was charged the $25 copay when she got her contacts earlier in the year. Had them refund it, but this would've been overlooked had I not gone through this. They need to fire all these incompetent people or teach them to read. Unless of course they're deliberately scamming people :) and they need to be reported. Won't be coming back. read more

I seriously love this optometry. It's the best one I've been to. It's modern, clean and the staff is amazing. It does not feel like the standard, run-down, old optometry places I've been to before. They have a wide selection of frames to choose from as well. Both of the optometrists that I've seen, Dr. Tran and Dr. Thai, we're extremely friendly and personable. All of the techs are also very helpful and kind. They also have two beautiful huskies that sometimes make an appearance at the location. I was also referred over to NVISION by Dr. Thai for my lasik eye surgery and it was one of the best decisions I had ever made in my life. Now I see 20/15 and my quality of life is so much better! So, I'd like to start by saying that they're nice here and their selection is okay but not as great as lenscrafters or bigger places. I've gotten my exam here and purchased lenses for my existing frames which took a little over 2 weeks to arrive. I even brought my son to get his glasses and exam. The prices are decent until you actually pay attention and look at true retail prices. They sold me nonprescription Maui Jim sunglasses at a $100 mark up with a 1 year warranty, so $350. Sunglasses right off their sales floor. I had no idea until I went on the actual Maui Jim website and retail for them are actually $250 with a 2 year warranty and free shipping and returns. I thought I got a good deal because get this, the offered 20% off! I called to ask why they raise their prices so much they explained that they do that because most people pay with insurance, also they have to pay for shipping. Just out of curiosity, I ordered glasses with prescription lenses from a US based website and I would have saved over $300 if I ordered there from the getgo. So here's the thing: If your insurance covers 100% or the majority of your lenses and frames and exam, you may not mind giving them your business however if your insurance only covers exams, like tricare, don't buy glasses here. You can get your prescription and save hundreds by going online or a place like Costco/Walmart. New optix sales are also final so check prices before you buy because you won't be able to change your mind. read more

I hadn't been in for an eye exam in a few years and found this place through my insurance, and it's location was right by my work, so I thought I'd give it a try! The office is spacious, modern, and very clean, I was really impressed! The assistant who did the initial tests was so friendly and explained everything as she conducted each test. Then I met with Dr. Amanda Thai and she was wonderful! She went over each test result and did a few additional tests to get my new prescription. She was so friendly and answered all my questions with ease. Once I had my prescription, I wanted to pick out some new glasses and worked with Joann for that. She was super helpful and guided me to styles I might like, and was very patient as I tried on a lot of pairs of both glasses and sunglasses. With recommendations from her and a few of the other staff members I picked out a pair of glasses and sunglasses that I love! It had been a little over 3 years since my last eye exam. Decided to get one for the start of the new year. My wife also needed some glasses since she lost her last pair. I ended up booking appointments for both of us here based off of Yelp reviews. Staff was friendly, personable, and very welcoming on the phone and in person. This eye center is very clean, has a nice little waiting area, and even has a cool fish tank. They have a small self serve coffee bar, but if you don't like their coffee you're in luck... there is a Starbucks next door. They have a large selection of frames and mirrors all around so you can see how you look. They offer a lot of designer brands such as: Calvin Klein, DKNY, Tom Ford, Coach, Gucci, Dolce and Gabana, Prada, Oakley, and many more. The exam was straight forward. Dr. Tran is friendly and very thorough. He would explain what he would be doing in good detail, along with why, and always followed up by asking if I had any questions. I was also impressed that he uses some of the latest and greatest equipment. My previous Optometrist didn't have that technology in his office. After getting the appropriate prescription lenses, we both chose frames that we liked. The young woman in the store front explained everything thoroughly regarding what was covered by our vision insurance, our out of pocket cost, and how much we saved. I'm glad insurance covers a fair amount of the cost. Depending on which frames you select, you could walk out of this place and easily drop a few hundred dollars per pair of glasses (and that's with vision insurance). Only thing left is to pick up our glasses when they're ready in a couple of weeks. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out if you need glasses. I moved to Linda Vista in 2019 and needed to find a new optometrist. I am an active glasses/contacts wearer (glasses for 20 years, contacts for 12 years) so I have annual eye appointments. I found New Optix Optometry through Yelp and thankfully, they took my vision insurance (VSP). I have had 2 appointments at New Optix since establishing care. Each appointment has been amazing. The staff are so helpful and easy to schedule with. They contacted me very quickly and made the paperwork process really easy. Their office is decorated so nicely with a fish aquarium! During each appointment, the office wasn't super crowded (one appointment during COVID, which they handle very well). I've met with both Dr. Mina Ta and Dr. Michael Tran, and they are both SO nice, helpful and informative. They were open to listening to my concerns (dry eye due to allergies) and answered all my questions. The staff in the front office are all super nice, as well. I use contacts more frequently than my glasses (usually at-home use), so I used my insurance on my contact lenses, and ended up getting new glasses frames elsewhere. With my insurance and rebate, I was able to save a good amount of money for my contact lenses. Overall, super positive experiences at New Optix Optometry. I've been going to new Optix for close to a decade now. I appreciated that Dr. Tran was knowledgeable about my insurance benefits and I loved how they always carried designer frames. When I was pregnant and had a retinal tear, he referred me to an amazing surgeon and I love how the offices are in continuous communication. He also encouraged me to look into lens refractive surgery followed by lasik which has greatly impacted my life. Now I'm going to Dr. Ta to get IPL to help with my dry eyes. I have no complaints when it comes to New Optix Optometry! Dr. Tran has been my eye doctor for almost two years, and he's pretty great at assessing what your eyes need. I found out I have astigmatism here in one of my eyes, but I'm glad I know that and can get glasses and contacts that can help correct it. Scheduling an appointment here is simple, and with their hours, I'm able to come in after work if needed. I needed a new pair of glasses, and the staff here helped me find some that fit my face. They waited for me as I tried on a few pairs and they went through every price point with me. The staff members weren't pushy on certain brands when I was deciding on frames. The frames are higher end, while they do cost more, you notice the quality. When the company they were ordering my frames through didn't have the ones I placed an order for in stock (it would have been a 6-month wait), they called me right away to let me know. I have gone to a number of optometrists and through my experiences I have found that Dr. Tran and his team of professionals are extremely thorough in determining a patients eye health. I have had a history of various eye issues, from retinal to vitreous degeneration which causes eye Floaters. Dr. Tran from my experience is very astute in identifying underlying conditions and directing you to the best course of action for resolution. The establishment is clean, spacious and his equipment appears advanced. Upon initial visit I was given retinal photos and a field vision test, and additional tests for eye pressure. The Retinal photos in addition to eye dilation, through my experience makes the exam comprehensive and can relieve anxiety about your eye health. Recently,I believed I had additional floaters, Dr. Tran took the time out of his busy schedule to take Retinal photos to make sure there were no issues with the Retina. He went over the photos with me after seeing his other scheduled patients. I really appreciated that courteous accommodation. I had an appointment scheduled two days later with an ophthalmologist, but he took the time to make sure there was no Emergency. This is for the Kearny Mesa location. I was a New patient, so I was expecting all the paperwork to be painful but this was not the case at all. Desk staff and nurses were very kind. The nurse made sure all the equipment was sanitized and walked me through all the tests. I forgot her name, my apologies I was nervous :( Dr. Thai performed a thorough exam and went over literally everything. I had my eyes dilated and that was trippy. Haven't been to an optometrist in about 3-4 years and I finally decided to! ...in the middle of a pandemic. However since my old optometrist closed down, I discovered New Optix through Yelp and driving by it every so often. On my first visit, the whole room was clean and I felt very safe. Everyone who I interacted with was friendly and comfortable. The customer service here is one of the best I've had when it comes to medical appointments. Patient had to wait for their turn with the optometrist. I thought there would be two optometrists since our appt was back to back. For the two of us, our appointment was at 6pm. We didn't finish until closer to 8pm. A bit slow in my opinion. The prices are fair here, but I feel like you probably can find better deals somewhere else. If you prefer a newer facility with new technology, New Optix is worth checking out. read more

Found this place thru Yelp. I've been next door for ramen and Starbucks millions of times and never noticed this place. What a great find! I've been going to various places like Lenscrafters and Costco and I'm happy to say New Optix does indeed deserve its stellar Yelp reviews. Dr. Michael Tran was courteous, professional, and most of all, very personable like a friend that you can talk to informally. He was efficient and patient and provided me with many options for my specific needs for progressive eyeglasses and contacts that corrected astigmatism, and he even offered to order some newly available progressive contacts for me to try out. He also has some of the newer more advanced equipment when compared to the other stores which I appreciated. His staff was stellar from Aleena who was efficient and friendly in checking me in and getting me tested. Then there's Kim who saved the day by finding me some coffee even though they were supposedly out of them. And finally Lynn for patiently talking me thru all the VSP coverages and helping me pick the perfect style and size of eyeglass frame to fit my unusually shaped face. LOL. She even special ordered a pair when there wasn't one in stock. Dr.Tran, you have an excellent staff and they made my experience at your store a thoroughly enjoyable one.
