Everything here was great. The meat quality is way better than most all-you-can-eat places, especially the brisket. We ordered a few appetizers to start and they were all delicious. The vibe is cool and the service was top-notch. Our waitress was amazing. She was super attentive and kept the food coming fast. She even recommend a good boba place nearby. Definitely my new go-to spot. Definitely will return back whever I am back in Houston.

Hongdae has become one of our favorite AYCE kbbq places. They are located in the heart of Chinatown in the Dunhuang Plaza next to the claw machine stores. We enjoy the variety of options on the menu and the bright and hip interior. Parking: The Dunhuang Plaza has a lot of parking but Houstonians know this plaza gets packed fast because of how many good restaurants are in this plaza. We came on Saturday at 6 PM which is a peak time for this center. We parked in the garage by Gong Cha on the third floor. Find the forts parking space you can. Good news is all parking is free in this area. You just have to hunt for a spot. Ambiance: Hongdae has a modern feel inside and also has outdoor seating. It was cold when we went and they had space heaters on the patio. The restaurant gets loud because of the small space and hustle and bustle of the kitchen. They play modern techno music which is a change of pace for your normal kbbq experience. Service: we had a table for 8 people and they assigned 2 servers to our table and we had no issues putting in orders. We finished in close to an hour because food was coming out so fast. Very good experience with the servers here. Food: we ordered right when we sat down and food came out almost instantly. They have the classic starters like beans sprouts, spicy cucumbers, potato salad, fish cake, and pickled radish. These were all refillable as well. We ordered the scallion pancake, cheese corn and japchae as appetizers. We enjoyed the scallion pancake as it came out hot and crispy and the japchae was actually very flavorful, I would skip the cheese corn. The cheese wasn't melted enough so it just clumped up on the plate. For meats, we had the brisket, bulgogi, flat iron steak, garlic butter shrimp, LA Galbi and beef belly. All the meats were high quality. Our favorites were the LA Galbi, flat iron steak and brisket. These brisket and beef belly were fatty and delicious on the grill. The Galbi is high quality and juicy. The shrimp is pre cut in half so that makes for a nice and easy grilling experience. Wish we could've tried more meats. We finished with some grilled pineapple to cleanse the palate. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Hongdae and will be coming back for sure. Dinner was $36 which is a great deal for all of the food you can get!

Everything that's included in the $36 all you can eat

Came here for lunch today and it did not disappoint. It's $36 per person for all you can eat and they have a nice variety of appetizers, sides, and meats that are included in that price. My favorites were the kimchi, pickled radishes, and the spicy cucumbers and for the meats the beef brisket was the star of the show. Service was great with our server frequently coming back to check in and see if we needed more meats. The music in here is a bit loud but overall the restaurant is nicely decorated and definitely worth visiting.

One of my go to spot AYCE Korean BBQ in the Bellaire area. Came here on a cold Friday evening around 6:45pm party of 4. Wait around 30 mins to be seated. To my surprise I got one of my favorite waiter again in the same week. Ben was absolutely amazing. Great Customer service. Did not know he work here as well. I haven't been here for awhile. My favorite meat here the LA Galbi and the Beef Tongue. I also love the Chap Jae (Korean Glass Noodles) & Korean Street Corn.

Great place for Lunch, menu attached below. Lunch is 12-4pm, you get a good selection of protein and appetizer choices for what you pay compared to the many AYCE Korean eateries around

Hongdae 33 is $33 a person for AYCE. We sat outside because the tables inside apparently were all occupied. They have a wide range of meats and it's great for $33. The meats though, aren't really the best quality. The bulgogi tasted bland and the brisket was very chewy. They don't offer rice paper too. Our server was nice and pretty quick with his service. Overall: It's a typical Korean BBQ AYCE place. Unfortunately, the meats weren't as good compared to other places.

Arnol started off as patient server and ended with rushing us out. Not only were we still eating he brought and us the check he made sure he got his tip and then 10 minutes later "There is nobody here so you need to leave" at 1:30am when restaurant Hours state 2am closing. It was my friend's first time at a Korean barbecue and she got a terrible experience by being rushed out. We have never experienced a restaurant telling us to leave.

Oo, the service has drastically gone down since the last time I've been here. Given it was dead on a Thursday mid afternoon so really should've been no excuses. The appetitzers were all pretty bland except the kimchi stew, that one is chef's kiss. LA Galbi and bulgogi were my favorite. Shrimps at kbbq places can be a hit or miss, but both the garlic butter and canjun ones were flavorful.

If you're looking for incredible AYCE KBBQ, look no further--Hongdae 33 is the spot! We tried a variety of meats and seafood, but no shocker-- the LA Galbi reigned supreme. The quality, taste and price ($33/person) cannot be beat at Hongdae 33. Easily 5 stars... ...however, our experience with service was HORRENDOUS. Since it was our first time at Hongdae, our server gave an introduction on how Hongdae operates. However, her explanation was difficult to follow because she was so soft spoken, and the loud sizzles in surround sound didn't help her case. At Hongdae, you're only allowed to order 5 dishes at a time. We placed our first order without any issues, but by the time we were ready to re-order, our server was no where to be found. In the 15 minute span of waiting for our server, our grill had been changed three times because the oil kept burning!! Despite exchanging looks between myself and several staff members, no one bothered to even smile, raise concern or check in on us. The lack of attentiveness and hospitality from the staff was severely disappointing and undermined our experience. Given that Hongdae's demographic extends beyond the Asian community, non-Asian guests might find it challenging to return or remain as understanding and patient as I was. Note: Mind your step!!! Floors are slippery due to the oil splatters and the restrooms are filthy and not maintained throughout the day.

I came here for dinner with friends around 6:30 pm, and there was already a waitlist! Overall, my waitress was attentive, and there were no complaints in the service department. Despite coming on a Thursday evening, I was surprised by how packed the place was; it was definitely very lively, especially with the K-pop and EDM playing in the background. The meal is $33 before tax + tip. Hongdae 33 is an AYCE establishment, so I had to get my money's worth from the meat. They let you order up to 5 meats per round (there are 5 rounds max) and as many appetizers as you'd like; there's also a 90-minute limit to eat, and they actually keep track, so something to be mindful of. In my group of 3, we tapped out after 2 rounds and ordered about 10 meat platters in total. Overall, the food was good, but nothing special. The portions were a bit small, and I found the meat to be very seasoned (borderline salty), and there was one order (the Beef Tongue?) that was very chewy and tough to eat which turned me off. We ordered the Korean spicy pork bulgogi, traditional Korean spicy beef belly, Texas wagyu sliced beef belly, and galbi marinated pork belly -- all of which were pretty tasty, though! For appetizers, we got the Kimchi stew (quite salty, 2/5), Scallion pancake (5/5), and Cheesy Corn (3/5; the cheese could've been more melted). Regarding the side dishes, the options were limited. I thoroughly enjoyed their fish cake. The kimchi wasn't bad, but their cucumber salad was also a bit salty, and I personally wasn't a fan of their bean sprout side dish; I think the taste of the sesame oil could've been more subtle. I also wasn't a fan of their potato salad; I've had better elsewhere. I am not entirely sure if I'd return when there are ample other Kbbq places in Bellaire alone, but I am glad I tried it.

I don't go to ayce Korean bbq joints as much as I used too, so it's a real treat when I finally have a craving to over indulge. With so many k bbq places now - I had to make sure I was paying the best price for great meat selection and sides. Hongdae 33 hit all my criteria. Minimal wait on an early dinner on Saturday, text system is always a plus. The waitstaff was attentive overall as we really didn't have 1 server - any server was ready to give us more meat refills. I loved the beef brisket and the beef belly. I wish they had thinly sliced pork belly vs. the thicker cut but that's the only thing I was slightly disappointed on. Music is a little loud with the kpop playing at times - guess it really just depended on the song. Overall - If I was craving ayce kbbq - I wouldn't mind coming back.

    KBBQ is a must!

The sauce is not good and the service is slow after we ordered only Ribeye. One good dish is the cheese corn, other than that it's meh.

Michael, the owner, greeted us and took care of us! We started with the Jumbo Crab Fingers which were really good - I'm honestly not huge on seafood, so I enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would. Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! Every customer that came in during our time there was personally greeted by Michael, and it seemed like they were all repeat customers. It was really cool to see that kind of connection, and it really showed how much Michael cares about his customers, and how much we like his food! Indoor seating is a bit limited - all bar stool seating. I rarely comment on the music that a restaurant plays, but I quite liked it! Made me feel like I was on the bay enjoying some fresh seafood at sunset. Heard they'll be opening up their newest location at POST soon!

It's a lot more spacious than it looks and ripe with inventory that include everything from Chinese baiju to Japanese + Taiwanese whiskey (#1) to Asian based wines that are harder to find in the US. This is the good part. The not-so-great part is the fact their customer service is borderline atrocious. Phone manners are non-existent and help within the store has always been a challenge. Speaking English and Chinese has gotten me the same exact result, so it's always good to have a game plan before perusing. The other not-so-fun part is the sticker shock. One instance where I attempted to pay with credit card, I was asked if I could pay in cash instead. Thankfully, I had enough but somehow I still felt rushed out. But in the end, instead of feeling slighted by my experience, I am still thankful this is an option in the neighborhood. I don't know about their selection versus other similar stores, but with the size and everything, I would have to assume China Place is still one of the better options in town despite some service snafus.
