Good neighborhood dive bar. Appreciate the wide range of patrons - age, ethnicity, etc. Nothing fancy or upscale here. Really tasty food with good dinner and lunch specials. Affordable drinks. Usually one bartender scheduled.

Awesome jams

The service was great, very attentive with guests and your needs on your night out. Unfortunately I was a bit late for the food service, but I've heard good things from it all. Over all people were great, good music good drinks, definitely one of my favorites here in Houston

I read about this gem in The Houston Press and had to check it out. It's a cute and quaint bar frequented by regulars who have been coming here for many years. This place is so unassuming because it's located in a sketchy neighborhood. We started with an ice cold Corona served by the friendly bartender, Kara, with a K. We met a new friend named Jojo who has been coming here for years and gave us the low down about the bar. This is Houston's best kept secret. When the Astros play, they serve $2 hamburgers, we got 3, they were homemade and so delicious! We also had the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was amazing. We had so much fun visiting this bar and plan on coming back. The ambiance was lively, lots of people talking, laughing and having fun. They have pool tables and games that you can enjoy. We definitely plan on coming back!

Cheeseburger and fries. Not kidding when I say it's one of the best in town!

Good food. Cheap drinks and friendly patrons. What else do you want from Irish pub? Try the daily specials and the bacon burger.

Bartender was friendly and attentive. Crowd was laid back and friendly. I liked it there. If I lived closer It would be my bar of choice.

Stopped by Tipsy Tavern after leaving another nearby bar hoping for a better experience, but…read moreunfortunately this visit was even more uncomfortable. Our group walked in and sat at the bar while two other guests sat nearby. The bartender immediately took the other guests' order first, then casually asked us "what do y'all want" while continuing to move around behind the bar. My friend paused because it genuinely wasn't clear if the bartender was listening to us, and the bartender responded with attitude saying, "I'm listening." When my friend ordered a Hugo Spritz, the bartender responded with "what?" and then said she only knew an Aperol Spritz. That's completely fine, not everyone knows every cocktail, but the interaction became unnecessarily rude from there. Instead of simply asking about the ingredients politely, she came back with an attitude asking us to look it up for her, and then became defensive saying "I don't know what the issue is" even though nobody had complained or created a problem. The entire interaction just felt dismissive and unwelcoming. We ended up leaving almost immediately because the energy was so uncomfortable. Hospitality and attitude matter just as much as the drinks, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark completely.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and really good food. It's kid and dog friendly, has several TVs for watching games, and even games to play while you're there. They also run daily specials, which you can find on their website. I stopped in on a weeknight and the place had a nice crowd.....clearly a local favorite. I ordered the truffle fries for a quick bite and they were delicious. Overall, it's a welcoming spot and I'll definitely be back. Love this neighborhood bar!

Luckily for you, I visited this place so you wouldn't have to!…read more I cringe at this place. Sticky tables and floors, dirty menus, dusty dishes and ceilings. Tiny bathrooms- can't get in and out without touching something. Our waitress was a few weeks in and tried her best. The fountain drinks were absolutely disgusting and needed to be recalibrated. I settled with the only bottled soft drink available to be safe, a root beer with 79 grams of sugar! The Bakers Special pizza was a greasy and sloppy mess and instantly fell apart just by looking at it. It had mondo chunks of meat that didn't pair well with the sauce. My husband recommended this place from his visit a few years ago but it clearly went downhill. It's an old dilapidated mess. Cushion chairs were 20+ years old with sticky stains and butt intentions on them. It was giving biker bar and made me very uncomfortable. I was afraid I'd get sick just being in the environment. The patrons were old, obnoxious perverts. Someone even brought their dog in there (not a service dog). I couldn't overlook it's condition and the food wasn't any better. There are definitely way better options on Westheimer. EEEEYUCK!

Awful. Absolutely, awful. From great heights have they fallen. Years ago, Nick's was fun, drinks…read morecold, and pizza was great. Many great times with old friends have been had there. They had some off nights too, like the time I went in at around 11 pm and a very salty, old waitress (she was a hag) said, "f--- this! I'm not serving anyone!" She started putting chairs on top of tables. That was long ago. Today, the place is dirty and dusty. Little gnats fly around trying to get into your drink. Pizza is either undercooked or too charred. On this occasion, undercooked and just gross. Expensive too. The last few times I've been, it was burnt. Maybe there's something wrong with their oven. Rough crowd too. Their clientele has gotten way worse. Don't think I'll ever go back.

Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

I stopped by with my buddy on a Thursday evening close to 9 p.m. Free parking was a cinch in the parking lot they share with several other businesses. Service (4.5/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. The lady who brought me my food checked on me twice and was super nice. She called me "sweetheart," a little Southern hospitality goes a long way. Ambiance (4/5): Modern, clean, and comfortable. In line with other Dish Society locations I've been to. We sat at a booth/table combo. Drinks (4.5/5): I love when a restaurant has more than your standard selection of soft drinks. You'll find that at Dish Society. They have "craft" sodas and a nice selection of juice blends. Plus sweet and unsweet tea. Food (4/5): I went with a cup of the tomato bisque soup and the Nutella French toast. The soup tasted as good as it looked. Some croutons or a piece of garlic bread would have been nice, but outside of that, this starter couldn't have been better. The Nutella French Toast was similarly well done. I love French Toast and I love Nutella. So this was a match made in heaven. Along with some sliced strawberries and some blackberries, I was happy I went with a breakfast dish for dinner (they serve brunch all day). The prices are affordable for the quality of the food. My only complaint? The portion sizes are pretty small. Case in point: two slices of French toast when most places will give you four. Pro tip: Join their club for discounts.
