Reza's website advertises Mediterranean and Persian "delicious food using fresh ingredients at an affordable price", well, their buffet food was NOT fresh, the food was so dry. There were no Persian sauce dishes. The ONLY kebob that was edible was the chicken kubideh and warm. All other options at the buffet were OLD, cold and definitely OVER PRICED. I would have given this place a solid 5 if my experience with hostess lady was better. She was not friendly whatsoever. After we were seated she told us that the credit card machine was not working and that we have to pay cash or leave the credit card number and info with them. When our server, Nour Almasri, came he said don't worry about it the credit card and that he will take care of it at the end. Our server was the manager as well and he was super friendly and nice. At the end he used our credit card without any issue. Food was great we ordered 4 meals: I had Lamb shank it was excellent and generous portion. My wife had Lamb kabab combo: one skewer of lamb kabab and one skewer of lamb Kobidah, it was phenomenal. My daughter ordered chicken sultani, it was also good. Stopped here as a Doordash driver with my wife and wasn't acknowledged by staff at the front counter for several minutes. When finally I was able to inquire about my pickup order, I was rudely told it would be at least another 10-15 minutes wait (as a driver, our orders are timed). Not one time did the staff go to check on the order, nor did any of the other 2 staff who rushed past me and almost ran me over several times acknowledge my presence whatsoever. It's not as though the place was packed either. My wife and I left to go pick up an additional order nearby and came back and was told it would be another 10-15 minute wait (30 minutes total and still waiting on the order to be complete) Honestly it appears as though the staff here couldn't be bothered to care for your patronage, and couldn't be more annoyed that you're in their restaurant to begin with. Thank God we never went in as paying customers, no thank you, especially after reading other reviews. My husband and I decided to go for lunch on a saturday, when we arrived the lady at the entrance didn't even greeted us and instead told us it was buffet only and the price was $29.99 per person... we got seated on a dirty broken table, all plates where wet and dirty and also the utensils.. used to be amazing a couple of years ago.. I could noticed a party of 18 people arguing with the waiter about the bill but I am not sure why other than they where charged something. Anyways when we where done we asked for the check and we where told to go pay at the front.. the same lady that greeted us with how much it would cost us to eat there, she didn't give me a receipt and she said the total is $79.99 I gave her the credit card and she was sliding the card when she asked me how much tip I wanted to leave and I responded 20%.. I gave her my signature on the small credit card reader and she told me I would received a copy of my check on my phone in a few minutes, later on my car I get a text with the receipt and I could see I was charged twice for the tip.. she never mentioned the tip was included and asked me how much I wanted to leave... They already charged me 20% without telling me and I left them another 20%. My family and I dined at the Oak Brook location. We were warmly greeted. The elderly gentleman who served our drinks was funny and charming. We ordered family style dinner which came with the choice of three meats, three appetizers, two types of rice and bread. The meats were so incredibly flavorful and tender. The steak filet was cooked to perfection, OMGness, so juicy and tender. The chicken and the ground beef were also so flavorful and delicious. My family loved the dill rice. I enjoyed the hummus, the salad and the falafels. The service was good; the ambiance was warm and lively. They checked on us to make sure our meal was going well. We topped off the evening with the baklava which I loved. Theirs was not overly sweet and not too gooey. Overall, I'd recommend and we are looking forward to dining there again. read more

We have dined at the Andersonville location many times and have been here twice. Both times the service has been abysmal and I was hoping the first was a fluke. We went on a Sunday evening at 5:30 pm which was not a busy time. We stood at the hostess area which had two staff talking to each other, but left us ignored for about 5 minutes. When the woman with short hair finally acknowledged us, she was clearly annoyed that we there. She seated us, threw some menus on the table and walked away. When seated, there were about 5 tables of people with 3 servers. While not busy, we sat there for almost 30 minutes before being approached by a server. We ordered hummus, lentil soup and two sultanis with dill rice. After another 30 minutes our server brought one piece of bread and a plate of feta, radishes and parsley. We asked for water but it was another 30 minutes before we got that. Our food arrived, but he never brought the soup or hummus and he gave us white rice instead of dill. Again, our server only had one other table at the time. I would've complained but I knew it'd take another hour before he gave us what we actually ordered. I did see another server, an elderly man close to 80 years old with a long white ponytail who seemed very attentive to his tables. My recommendation is that if you go there despite these horrible reviews, sit in his section. If you are a fan of Reza's in Andersonville - don't waste your time with this oakbrook location. I've ordered from here twice: the first time they called me back and said they had to cancel the order because they had no driver the second time we received our food 1.75 hours after we placed our order with Grubhub. When I called the restaurant they said that they were busy and extended the delivery time by 30 minutes but it didn't get delivered for an extra 45 minutes. the quality of the oakbrook location isn't even close to the Andersonville location- this looks like minute rice (not basmati) and they give you bread that resembles a tortilla not a pita. I wish I wasn't so compelled to write this review- I've been a reza's customer for over 10 years and this location is extremely disappointing and does not represent the Reza's that me and my family adore. read more

First time here. First impression... Small entryway/foyer, dim lighting, burgundy colored walls, ceiling, and chairs. This was the only thing I didn't care for... reminded me of a night club. Too dark. Everything else was great. Menu had lots to choose from... Beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. Sides came with every entree. I thought at first the entrees were pricey... But for what you get... It was well worth it. I ordered scallops kabobs with grilled veggies, and Persian salad. The grilled scallops were large and cooked to perfection... Nice sear and tender on the inside. The seasoning on all the food, particularly the veggies was very well balanced. The amount of veggies and Persian salad was more than I could eat. Definitely worth the money. They also served radish, cheese, soup, and bread prior to the meal. The chicken barley soup was so good... I didn't leave a drop of it. The bread/nan was so flavorful and paired nicely with the soup. My hubby had the buffet for $25. It was well worth it. They had so many selections. His favorite was the filet mignon kabobs. Although I ordered six hours early and there was not one person in the restaurant my order for pickup was 20 minutes late. This place is not cheap at $20 a head. The food is fine; it's exactly the same as the Chicago location. I like the dill rice and fessenjean chicken. We have just given this restaurant a second chance and they failed again. This was a phone order and they said the food would be delivered in 40 minutes. The order NEVER arrived and they lied about it for over 2 hours. When we would call they would say that the "order would arrive in 15 minutes and the driver was on his way". I wish I had read the reviews before going to this restaurant. I have gone to the Reza's in River North often and thought the experience would be similar. I have no complaints about the food. The food is great. The problem was with the service. The worst service I experienced in a long time. 1. Would not take a credit card. They claimed that they couldn't process a credit card payment because their internet was down. That's hard to believe. Modern day credit card processing systems work offline. Of course, I didn't have the cash on hand and had to drive to an ATM and return with cash. 2. A charming Dee Snyder looking guy with a pony tail encouraged my 8 year old niece to order some juice. She agreed. Little did I know that he was serving her drinks (non-alcoholic) from the bar. I was hit with charges for cocktails for every juice he brought her. 3. Inept servers brought us a steak with no steak knife. When we ask for one, he brought us a butter knife. ??!?! I regret not taking the time to count my change so as to leave little to no tip. I did not have high expectations for this place considering some of the scathing reviews. My friend remembers going to Reza's with his family as a child so for his birthday he wanted to go here. We chose the Oakbrook location. We went on the weekend around 2pm and it was dead. I thought that might be a bad sign. They were very adamant when we walked in that they could only take cash as their Internet was down and couldn't take credit card. I think that's their MO to avoid the service fees but why not just go to being cash only? Anywho...upon sitting they gave us homemade pita and feta. Simple, yet why don't I eat that more often! We got the family style dinner and oh the choices! For appetizers we chose the grilled mushrooms, hummus, and falafel. All 3 were fantastic! For our 3 meats we got filet mignon, Reza's chicken Kabob, and the beef koubideh. Wow, is all I can say! All of them cooked to perfection, perfectly seasoned, and served with a delicious rice and veggies. It also came with a Persian salad, also very yummy! Aside from the credit card issue and a less than clean bathroom (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), I highly recommend this place. Sooooo good! read more

Reza's service has really gone down, which is unfortunate because the food is so good. Last time we dined in, the waiter got our order mostly wrong even though we were the only people in the restaurant. He still kept getting our order wrong even though we corrected him numerous times. Then they charged us for all the incorrect items he brought out that we hadn't ordered. We ended up paying for all of them because we didn't want to haggle with them. The other day I made an online order on their website for almost 50.00 worth of food. The order went through and they charged my card. Then they called me and said I'm out of their delivery zone and it'll cost 23.00 dollars extra to deliver the food to me! Apparently I was out of their zone because they only deliver within 20 miles. FYI, we live 18 miles away. I told the man who called me that their website never mentioned anything like that while I was ordering. He said, "I understand but that's how it is." What is worse is that they've actually delivered to my house before! The difference between then and now is that the total price for my first delivery order was double that of my second order. It was around 150 and they didn't want to miss on an order that costly so they delivered it. They didn't want to waste their time on my $45 apparently. Now I'm left disputing the charge with my credit card company thanks to the horrible service of this restaurant. I gave them two stars because the food is really good. Kind of a hidden gem, I used to live around here and didn't know we had this place in the suburbs. We had a lovely family dinner there last night and now I am home In Minnesota enjoying my awesome leftovers. We demolished several trays of flat bread and went a little nuts on the starters and salads, the tabbouli was top notch, and the fattoush reminded me of Auntie Rose's salads. There is a lot of variety on the menu, so while 6 out of 7 ordered kabobs , they were all different kinds. I had Chicken Kabob Sultani and the chicken was very tender. Service was not super fast, but I would have been annoyed if it was! We were taking our time, savoring the food and conversation, not trying to eat quick and go somewhere else. Restaurant has gone downhill. Was there on Tuesday for lunch at 1:30pm. Had to sit the the North room with no windows with the awful red decor. The other room had a private party of 4. They do not have a lunch menu and no longer have the lunch buffet daily but will offer it for holidays. I had the filet mignon shishleek medium rare which was wonderful and perfectly cooked. However, the soup and rice were barely warm, cutlery is cheap and they give you a bottle of water instead of water with ice. I have eaten at this location and the previous Ontario street location many times before and the Clark Street location for over 30 years. This review is for a recent experience we had for a banquet held there. My sis and SIL hosted a joint baptism/1st bday reception for their 2 kids on 6/25, and from the moment we walked in, what a sh*t show it was. Both hostesses were loosely familiar with the restaurant venue (they've ordered takeout and eaten there many times), so booked sight unseen. The reception was for ~200 guests, and Reza's indicated they had an event space large enough to accommodate that size. The reception was slated to start at 12:30, as per the agreement from both hostesses and the restaurant, with the contract reflecting the same. Guests arrived at 12:30, while those of us that were part of the family stayed behind at the church to take pictures. When we arrived at the restaurant at 1:15, we came to find out that none of the guests had been served any appetizers or drinks, and the restaurant had refused to budge despite many guests complaining of hunger. This is after the contract and the phone conversations indicated that the start time would be 12:30pm. Furthermore, the event coordinator/owner failed to mention that the event space WAS BROKEN UP INTO TWO COMPLETELY SEPARATE ROOMS. So, essentially, 75% of the guests sat in one room, while the remaining 25% sat in a completely different room, separated from the main event. Not only did this make for a terrible party experience, but those of us that sat in the smaller room missed out on the entire party (kid's cake cutting, speeches, prayer, etc.). Don't you think that's an important detail to convey to anyone booking?? Insult to injury, the smaller of the 2 rooms had a broken thermostat (supposedly), making the room stiflingly hot, as if the heat was blasting. When asked what they could do to alleviate the issue, an apologetic look and a "I'm sorry" from one of the staff members was all we got. An hour into lunch, a few of us took matters in our own hands and started propping windows open to keep from profusely sweating. Now onto the service. Clearly the restaurant is suffering from a staff shortage, because for an event this size, we only had 2 formally dressed waiters, and then 2 men who were wearing baseball caps and sweats (kitchen staff perhaps?) that were running around trying to run the front desk, carryout, plus assist in both rooms. Why wouldn't you have more staff on hand for a banquet this size?? Onto the bathrooms. The men's bathroom is located right next to the hostess stand as you enter, and was directly adjacent to the larger banquet room. Every time the bathroom door swung open, what a God awful stench (it literally smelled like sewage) and those of us that kept walking by to socialize with the main room attendants wanted to die every time. The women's restroom? Just as bad! Located within the main banquet area itself, adjacent to the bar, it's a tiny 3 stall facility, with 1 of the 3 stalls being out of order. What's worse, it was taped shut saying out of service, with the toilet sounding like it was going to overflow at any moment (I visited 3 different times with my toddler, and it kept gurgling every 2 mins or so). Why wouldn't you have this fixed before a large event??? My 3yr old almost pissed herself twice waiting for one of the two stalls in the entire restaurant to open up. WTF??? Onto the rude staff, in particular, the bartender and the hostess (who I was later informed is possibly the owner??). The bar was only in the main area, so those of us that were seated in the other smaller room had to keep going to the main room to get served - fine. But when I asked for an empty glass to pour some water into (side note, they only provided bottled water on self serve carts and not server poured water into individual glasses, which is super weird for a banquet/restaurant), I was told I couldn't have one because I wasn't purchasing a drink from the cash bar. What in the real f*ck??? I just about lost it, but then another guest that had an open tab said his card was on file, and that's the only reason the bartender handed me an EMPTY GLASS. Is this for real?? Final straw - since they were so late in brining out the actual entrée (kebabs, rice and such), most people had filled up on the apps and there was a ton of leftover food - like, literal platters full. When I asked if we could have to go containers (mind you, it's my sister's event, she'd never just let food be wasted that way), I was told by the hostess/owner that they couldn't provide containers, as the hosts didn't indicate it was ok. WHAT?? So I had to drag my SIL away from the party to voice what I had already told the owner-GIVE US THE DAMN BOXES. She was rude, unapologetic, and we collectively will never, ever visit Reza's again - takeout or otherwise. I'd rate this place a -10 if I could! ***UPDATE*** Apparently the business made my sister pay CASH for the event (as in, 4K+!) for the event - umm, IRS tax fraud?? read more

Then when he brought it home, they had put underneath the kuskus dryer burnt rice to make the kuskus look full. How disappointing for something like this for $18.50. I've eaten at Reza in Chicago on several occasions and am familiar with the menu. It appears that whichever Reza you choose to dine at you will be greeted with excellent service and great food. This was my first time at the Oak Brook Reza but the food and service was comparable to the other two Reza restaurants where I have dined in the past. The Buffet was ... what can I say... Abudanza ! I know, dat's Italian ... but... there is no other word to describe such an abundance of food, but Abudanza ! An all you can eat buffet. Wow , a Fat man's paradise. So many varieties of different food choices. There was chicken, beef, lamb, salmon , white rice, dill rice , bayani vegetable fried rice, potatoes, humus , feta cheese , salads, soups, etc. Oh, and the chicken marked as spicy , was indeed spicy, and delicious. Naturally the place was packed with buffet diners who took advantage of the good eats at a good price. If you enjoy middle eastern food , you can't go wrong at Reza's. Reza is billed as an Iranian restaurant, but the fare is typical of middle eastern food. Reza gets 5 Stars for excellent food, service, ambiance, decor and price. read more

Parking is confusing to find and is pretty far from the restaurant. The person at the front desk got us seated, but had earbuds in and didn't explain that it was buffet only - even though it shouldn't be. We sat for a few minutes waiting for menus until one of our party asked him if we could have some, and he said that it was buffet only, and that everything on the menu was at the buffet - also not true. But we drove over 30 minutes to get here and we were hungry so we decided to stay and eat anyways. The food was alright, but many of the buffet dishes were lukewarm or cold. The front desk worker did bring us water bottles, but did not ask us if we wanted anything else to drink - we noticed several other tables had drinks. The men's bathroom was in a sad state: both of the urinals were broken in some way (not flushing well), the men's stall lock was installed upside down, the soap dispensers at the sink were broken, as were several of the sink handles. The hand dryer barely worked and there were no paper towels. At the end, a 20% tip was also already included. For what, since we served ourselves, I don't know ‍ The bill was to be paid in cash only, even though there were no signs or warnings saying that was the case and there was a card reader in plain sight at the front desk. I placed a very large order for pickup on 3/10/24. They were out of salmon that I ordered 3 serving of and replaced it with shrimp without notifying me. When I called to complain they said apologized and said they would refund the $89. They made no effort to make it right with some sort of coupon, only a refund. When I checked my credit card 2 days later, there was no credit. When I called to question them, they hung up twice.
