It was a very intimate experience dining among two other couples ( with three tables inside, Valentine's Day was fully booked! ) Here is what we enjoyed: - Roasted beet, radish, cucumber and snap peas crudites with a fava pate and malawach - Creamy and crispy potato puffs with spicy zchug - A bright and dreamy wedge salad with mushroom bacon and fried shallot - A savory tomato sunchoke soup with artichoke heart - A surprise ravioli and with a warming cream sauce - And choice of dessert, I had a bright lemon tart cake with and my husband had the amaro blonde sundae Dan @rhinokey, the @gossamerdram bar room operator, is a master with his cocktails, sourcing from, supporting local and small businesses where possible. We loved First We Take Manhattan and A Moon Behind the Clouds. Mandarava is one of my absolute favorites in Massachusetts for upscale, excellent pure cooking made from fresh, local ingredients, nothing processed. At least one of the couples we dined with were not vegan and said "If Mary cooked for me every night, I would be vegan". It's that good! Chef Mary, Dan, and Jessica thank you for an incredible meal and experience

This place is simply outstanding! I cannot think about a better dinning experience in Newburyport…read morethan the one my finance and I had at Mandarava. We went on a Friday for a tasting menu. This is what we got: - Grape leaves: Delicious stuffed grape leave paired with heart of palm and blood orange. Perfect way to start a delicious dinner. - Vegetable creme soup: I think that was one of the best soups I had in a while. It was super flavorful and light. The crispy brussel sprouts on the top provided some crispiness to the plate. - Chickpea tofu: The combination of the chickpea tofu with the delicata squash was just delightful. I wouldn't even know how to improve the plate if I was asked to... - Pot pie: Perfect bite for a winter. It makes you warm up immediately. The flavors were on point. You only need to be patient with this one, since it takes a while until it cools down and you can really enjoy it as it deserves. - Sweets: The description of this plate was only "cherry, blueberry, strawberry, pear" so we didn't really know what to expect. Well, we were served with a delicious piece of cake. Every bite made you come back for more. If I was asked about something to improve, my only recommendation would be to make sure the waitress describes the plate when served. At least the time we were there, that was not the case. Looking forward to coming back soon!

The outer appearance of this purveyor of fine vegan dining is deceiving. Its street façade looks…read morelike a rundown old shack whose exterior signage seems provisional, as though it were hastily erected on opening day with intentions of later improving it, but "later" never happened. Even the interior, because so dimly lit, looks ramshackle. But you can't judge this book by its unassuming cover. Exquisite vegan cuisine awaits you inside. My fiancée and I temporarily suspended our WFPB high nutritional standards when she indulged in mock meat and I in sautéed food. No regrets. I savored my small plate of Curried Cider Brussels Sprouts and big plate of Peanut Tofu Noodles. She relished her big plate of Swedish Meatballs (TVP pea protein), which came with a side of the luscious Brussels Sprouts, and she proclaimed her dessert, Chocolate Mousse, to be among the best she ever tasted. All was served on elegant dishware. If we visit Brattleboro again, we will plan our visit around Vegan A.F.'s limited schedule. Reservations are required because of its limited hours and limited seating. We dined on a weekday evening, yet it had a full house. As it had rained earlier, the outdoor patio was not open for dining, so everyone was confined indoors. Not a problem. Its intimate atmosphere (in other words, its cramped interior) promoted casual but meaningful conversations among other fellow diners, as often happens in small vegan cafés. Kudos to Judy, our energetic server, who singlehandedly held down the fort both skillfully and gracefully. In case you're wondering, as I was, what does the A.F. in their name stand for, its website states obscurely way on the bottom "And Flex," yet there is nothing apologetic or flexitarian about Vegan A.F. Probably more consequential, a cognoscente of NYC informs me its underlying meaning is a far more colorful, indeed here not publishable.

Seriously though, one of the issues with…read morebeing vegan and a foodie is that preparing haute cuisine dishes that are vegan is painstakingly time consuming. Try making seitan at home from gluten "flour" to see what I mean. This place though nails it. This is basically a high end restaurant that happens to be vegan. Full bar, wine selection, the works. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Brattleboro. Menu items that stand out in no particular order: - Arancini cakes. These were heavenly. They are nicely crisped up at the bottom giving them a bit of a smoky flavor - Seitan salad: fully loaded salad with nice mix of flavors. Can be a bit on the spicy side for some people. - Swedish meatballs: my kids loved these. Come with perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts and herbed rice. 10/10 - Chicken riggies: this was also perfect for kids. The sauce for the rigatoni is very well put together. Basically this place is all hits on my list. Will be sure to stop here next time we are on a ski trip.

After being a customer for many years I moved to RI and on occasion would come back when visiting. Noticed the menu has been through lots of changes, I miss the "raw" aspect of it. Yesterday was super bowl sunday and I ordered over 100 dollars of food. I would say it was "okay" but the wait was super crazy. We ordered online 3 hours ahead and still ended up waiting another 40 mins for it. The pizza is no longer on a homemade raw base it seems to be on a typical packaged crust. It wasnt what I was used to from this place but it wasn't bad. The mac and cheese was really bad; The macaroni wasn't cooked and it had no flavor. The nachos were very good but super soggy because they were probably waiting for the other foods to be cooked . My sister liked her bowl and I liked my wrap. I'm not a local so I can't say "bring back the spring rolls and the raw based pizzas etc" They do what they need to do to survive.
