This is always a stop when traveling 81, easy off, easy on, and a short way down the road. After having 2 of the specials, #11, SOB-sausage gravy over buttered and grilled biscuits per our request, 2 plates were served hot, ample gravy, nicely fried potatoes, and a must for breakfast, coffee in a mug. It was Sunday around 830, and our server was hustling but kept up with topping off our coffees. Another must, is to visit the dessert case and drool over the many selections. We picked 4 cheesecakes to go. Baklava is always good. New this trip was a cinnamon bun cheesecake, bun split for the top and the bottom, cheesecake filling in the middle, good but different. 2 pieces of turtle? cheesecake were excellent, nuts on the sides, choclate ganache on top, a creamy layer underneath that, the cheesecake filling, and a chocolate cake layer underneath. Middlesex Diner had been one of our "go to" places for breakfast and the occasional dinner. Many restaurants were recently forced to either adopt a surcharge policy if you ordered eggs due to skyrocketing costs or simply raised prices. Thankfully, the price of eggs has come down to a more reasonable level and I haven't seen an egg surcharge anywhere in months...except at the Middlesex Diner. To their credit, they clearly make that policy clear before you go inside. And their food prices are more than reasonable. But it just looks like price gouging. So maybe add a few cents to the prices. Note that they also charge a 3% credit card fee. Personally, I'm okay with that since using a credit card is a convenience to me that I have no problem paying for. read more

A coworker and I stopped in for lunch mid week. The diner is large and spacious with good lighting and clean too. Looking for something I could cobble up as gluten-free, I opted for the Greek salad with grilled chicken. My coworker ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich with fries. The salad was huge! Another customer nearby asked what I had ordered. It was a bowl of romaine and iceberg salad with tons of mild feta, olives, cucumber and probably a whole pepper sliced up. The chicken was tender and almost shredded. Flavorful, fresh crunch and not over salted. The Greek dressing was mild and delicious. My coworker's Monte Cristo platter was also what he considered excellent. The service was fast and friendly. I would certainly recommend this diner to anyone based on my 1st experience. read more

Yep in For brunch fri end of March 2019 after work at dealership. I had the baked Haddock sandwich, side salad with ranch and chips. Now the fish was yummy but I took it off my bun. We decided this would be a good place to stop since we were out and haven't been here for a long time! Still one of the better diners in the area for a hot comfort meal! We both had Thursday night specials my Wife had the Ital. Meatloaf with a side of Mashed and I had the Beef Stroganoff with a California Blend of Vegetables! Like I said it's mostly wholesome Hot and tasty diner food which makes for a good quick dinner when you're hungry and don't want to make it yourself! Honestly I gave this restaurant a 3 because the server was very pleasant. My iced tea was out of a machine, I.e. had an instant taste. My senior turkey dinner was piled high. But the dressing was tasteless as was the turkey and even more so, the gravy which was heaped onto everything. I usually love turkey and dressing but in this case, size doesn't matter enough to make up for the flavor. Lastly, I opted for the mushroom soup over the salad. Bad decision. My dining mate abund I both ordered the light/ senior dinner of broiled haddock. Our meals came with soup or salad and 1 side. I had the cream of mushroom soup and baked sweet potato as my side. Total meh. Very disappointed. I try to frequent local diners and small businesses but this one earned a big "no return". Just had dinner there Friday 06/24/22. I ordered the special.... Veal parmigiana with spaghetti. Veal was tough like a piece of shoe leather. No real flavor. Sauce was minimal and flavorless. Hardly any cheese. Took my leftovers home hoping I could spruce them up. Only took a little garlic, parm, oregano, basil, and cheese. Still a piece of shoe leather though. My guest had their French onion water. Yeah, not soup... flavorless. I should start by saying I'm extremely close to 5 stars here and it's because of the total package that makes up this place. I'll likely get to 5 on the next visit. My wife and I wanted to try this place out and it was busy but they had room to seat us right away. Our waitress was fantastic. Fast, friendly and kept our coffee hot! The decor was awesome too! I'd never seen a St Patrick's Day tree before. I love quirky diner decor! The food is a bit above average across diners I've been to. The omelette that I had was cooked perfectly and extremely tasty. The scrapple was also excellent. Perfectly crispy on the outside and hot. I'm so glad this place is nearby! Always poor quality on food and freshness. They serve your fast and have a huge menu, but sometimes more is not always better! Scale down the menu and make it all taste better. This is sad as this is the closest diner to us and I wish it was better or we would go a lot. Frozen burger patty's came for my kids they wouldn't even eat them. read more
