I honestly can say this was maybe my 4 or 5th time eating here but this had to be my most disappointing well only disappointing time eating here as food was not fresh and hot fries cold mash potatoes were only thing still good chicken seemed as it had been sitting out or something highly disappointed especially when you expecting greater and jus gt off work from driving but ill be back this was also my first time eating here at 2 in the evening i usually go at night so i guess i kno what to do lol read more

The food was really good. The wife had turkey and dressing and I had the shepherds pie and we shared an order of poutine. I wouldn't say the dishes were traditional but were still very good. The turkey had beef gravy and I "think" the meat in their shepherds pie was their meat loaf. The poutine cheese curds were fried instead of plain. We found nothing wrong with anything; It was just different than we have had in the past at other places. The service was great and our waitress Jess was amazing and very attentive. We love this spot! The service is wonderful and sweet since it seems everyone is like family. We were sat right away on a busy Sunday Angelini in both which I think the place is mostly booths. I ordered a coffee it was a good medium blend I think. Decided to choose the hash brown bowl and it didn't not disappoint! Perfectly cooked bacon, plenty of avo, crispy hash browns with scrambled on top. My hubby got scrambled eggs with sausage and toast but he wished he ordered mine! Guy Fieri can't be wrong here! What a delight. EVERYTHING is good on their menu. This was easily the best choice we made as we meandered through town looking for a decent diner for Brunch on a Monday. Be warned, Portion sizes are huge so come hungry. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Fish & Chips, a side of fries, the Belgian Waffle, a Triple Deck BLT, and a Buttermilk Biscuits and sausage gravy. It was all very delicious and still good a day later because we simply couldn't finish our portions at the Diner. The place itself is very unassuming. There is plenty of table and booth seating available and the bathrooms are clean. I would absolutely come here again. The staff here is also very friendly and a good source of menu information because they love eating there too. There is something for everyone on their menu. I think about the only thing that was disappointing was the coffee. It didn't seem strong enough to me. In any case, if I don't overfill on lunch next time, I'm happy to partake of their desserts. read more

I am a quasi regular at the Mechanicsburg Metro Diner. From the very beginning, Mark the head "Dude" there (who besides running things can be found at the grill and/or mingling on the floor with customers) Mark has set a tone and created an atmosphere conducive to a great dining experience, lovely plated food ... oh yeah, delicious and imaginative dishes. This is a go to spot when I have company who like variety, great service, and delicious food. Today Durinda served a friend and I. She waited on us previously and remembered! She did everything except cut up our food for us. It was a s though we were the only customers in the restaurant. She was helpful with an issue that arose with a gift card and Mark got involved and they both did so much (above and beyond!) to make sure we left happy and full. Can't recommend the place enough and (although there are quite a few great servers there) if you are lucky , you'll have Durinda as your server. So we were. Greeted & Seated but there is a pretty good sized lunch crowd for a rainy Saturday. We both ordered the Creamed Chipped Beef over Home Fries! No matter what the Metro Diner is still a Diner but the menu is more interesting than most! All the staff and managers are friendly and welcoming and they all keep busy either serving, cleaning or doing their assigned tasks! the Metro is one of our go-to places for comfortable food, dependable service and affordable prices, as much as any dining out is affordable anymore. The menu is not too varied, stays pretty consistent with monthly specials, breakfast is available all day. The burgers are very large and well prepared. They train their people well, our servers have always been friendly and thorough, regularly checking to see if everything was OK and if we needed refills. Our latest server, Durinda, did an exceptional job even among the already good staff. Their parking lot isn't very large, but there is a lot of parking in the huge lot of the shopping center where the store is located. We go to the Metro usually a couple of times a month because we know what we will get: consistency. I think it's worth checking out for the person or people who like a simple and reliable eating experience. read more

I always loved this place for breakfast. I loved the different options available. However yesterday I was served a very dirty mug and didn't notice it until I drank some. The manager was very apologetic however I was very nauseous after realizing that it was very caked with leftover food. Needless to say I didn't eat anything and our tables bill was taken care of. Had a late breakfast/lunch/brunch on the way out of town here and someone in my party of 6 had been to a Metro Diner before so it came highly recommended. Loved the vibe and liked how simple but effective the menu was. Not to mention, the special roast of the day was Jamaican Me Crazy coffee, of which I drank at least a gallon. I went breakfast route with the Western Omelette, which was overflowing with ham, onion, mushroom, and peppers with cheese and salsa. Very, very good and pairs with the crispy hashbrowns and the big slices of toast. Our server was super nice and attentive, and though we were't complicated, it was a large group. Lady Matida and I first tried Metro on a busy Saturday morning soon after it opened. We were impressed by the size of the menu and surprised by how fast the kitchen was able to get orders in and out to so many customers in a short period with excellent quality. Usually when there's a big menu and a lot of customers, I expect to wait a long time while the kitchen gets bogged down by the more obscure, time-consuming items, but we didn't have to wait long. Lady Matilda is particular about her biscuits and gravy. She's an "old southern broad" who prefers family cooking and so I was glad to not have to hear how much better her nana's B&G was. She quite enjoyed the fresh biscuits and savory gravy. (She used the word Savory, which is itself something special). I had the oatmeal, which I often find either too bland or too runny. It tasted like someone whipped up a batch just for me. We just ordered lunch from Metro while working on our quarterly antiquities inventory. Since we can't let any of these items out of their containment area for long without something exploding or someone getting cursed, we opted for a delivery from Metro so we could keep on working through the lunch hour and get our weirder items back in the vault. We assumed since the Carlisle Pike is a bit of a hike from our little shop in Steelton that we would have to accept some quality issues while it took a ride across the river, but it was excellent. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and fries. It was MASSIVE - two breaded breasts on a toasted bun - juicy inside with a nice crunch. The fries on the side weren't even wilted like most orders get over the ride over here. Lady Matilda went for the Iron City Meatloaf which came slathered in gravy with some of the best mashed potatoes she's had in a while. She had to stop working to enjoy it. "You don't disrespect good food," she said and left me alone to continue working with a great chicken sandwich. In all, Metro has great food and I'm glad that meatloaf caught my lady's eye at lunchtime or we probably would have just gone with another McLunch to get through the day. read more

Disappointed this morning. I had a $30 gift card that I had received. I decided to visit Metro Diner this morning by myself. I ordered an omelet, and a cup of coffee. My total came to $15.48. One would assume that I would've received a restaurant credit for the remaining $14.52 that was not used. This didn't happen. When I inquired about this to the server, she told me that "they don't do that". I have never in my life experienced a situation where an establishment (brick & mortal or e-commerce) keeps the remaining money that is not spent. Even if the diner would've been transparent with me before taking the gift card and stated to me, "hey, we're going to keep the remaining balance, are you sure you want to use this today?" - I would've gladly paid in cash, and used the card some other time. We walked in the Diner and the floor and the carpet was filthy. We were directed to our booth. The bench seat had an 18" cut down the middle and was covered with greasy finger prints and food particles everywhere. My daughter touched the table top and her fingers stuck! it was disgusting! It's always busy - but it's much larger than it appears ... and they are super efficient. Your order is placed on an iPad ... and is ready before you are.
