Ken did a great job on it honestly. not a great response time via text but picks up calls. also includes a warranty. though he mentioned the warranty at first, but didn't put in on the actual invoice till i mentioned it. This morning Ken came to resurface a tub that had been severely damaged at the front by a dripping faucet. When he had repaired that damage (beautifully, I might add), he asked me to come back and reassess whether anything further was desired. It looks great now, so we did not proceed with the full-blown resurfacinf, which really was not necessary. I called New Surface a few months ago to see if they were still in business because Ted resurfaced my tub in 2016 and 7 years later I needed it done again. Sure enough they are still in business. Don't let these guys convince you that they can spray a lighter color over a dark one. My kitchen sink stated chipping and peeling within months of the job. Also, the finish was not smooth. I could have used the $300 and had a brand new stainless sink installed and be done with it. Now I have to go through the expense of replacement! What a waste of money! read more

Tim refinished our old 1932 cast iron tub as it had finally given in to time, lost some of its luster, had some mineral deposits and etching that we couldn't get rid of ourselves of course. This is a one man outfit. The owner, Tim, is a bit off center and not a great communicator. I spoke with him on the phone about a small area of peeling paint around my tub drain. I explained that the clawfoot tub was on my back patio since my bathroom was being retiled and remodeled. He gave me a reasonable quote, sounded like he knew what he was talking about so I set up a day to come by. He came by my Land Park home at 5pm to do the repair and as the evening went by, he brought out a 60 watt lamp to work with since it was getting dark. That was a bad sign. During the repair he asked me if I saw any other chips in the tub he could repair "while I'm here". Although it was difficult to see since it was getting dark & his lighting was so amateur, I found 6 little chips in the tub. He started repairing those chips, bragging how color matching was his specialty. This was a time consuming 4 hour process and he left at 9pm, with my $450 check in his pocket. His phone quote was $200 but he charged (never telling me upfront) me an additional $250 for the 6 chips he repaired. I have no problem paying for repairs, but I think most of us like to be told upfront. Overall, not a bad gig for him, over $100/hour with minimal materials used. For that money, I expected some really nice results since I could have got the entire tub done by Miracle Method for a little over $1K. The next morning I went outside with natural light and the 6 chip repairs were obviously a shade off and the sanding process was uneven, leaving 6 little visually off-color bumps in the tub. I called the guy back the next day and explained the problem. He bellyached a little about how he'll have to come back at his own expense and how this should have been done inside in the first place... Uh, oh well, whatever, just come back and fix your work....He told me to contact him after the tub was installed inside. A couple weeks later, I text him that the tub was installed. No response...I text again the next business day...crickets. I call and leave a message. Nada. I decide to use another phone to call him and sure enough, he picks up. He tells me he's busy but he'll get back to me the following week. The following week he texts me saying he'll be over the following day either "late morning or the afternoon". Well that sure narrows things down I thought. I text him back stating that I'll be home at 1. The next day he texts me at noon while I'm away from home in class and asks if I can be home at 12:30. I again text him and tell him again that no, I'd be home at 1 (as I had already told him the night before). So after class, I get home at 12:50 and now wait for him. He texts me "IT is after 1"...I have no f...g idea what he means by this so I text him that I've been at home since 12:50 and am waiting. No reply....I then call him and he picks up. He angrily tells me that he's been waiting 45 minutes for me, I look outside, nobody there. I'm thinking he went to the wrong address or has me confused with someone else so I asked when he knocked on my door. He said he never did. I asked if he rang my bell. He said he didn't. Asked if he called me. He answers "No". So basically he's calling me a lia. I asked him how in the world could he determine whether I was home if he didn't knock, ring or call....and why would I "pretend" not to be home?? At that point I was fuming and so incensed by this guy that I told him not to bother finishing the job. I'll live with his mediocre work as my reminder to myself to use companies that have quality controls and provide solid customer service. I've now read several of his reviews and see the pattern of poor people skills and dodgy customer communication he has had with others. I would recommend using a consistently reliable company with solid customer service like Miracle Method to anyone needing tub or sink refinishing. I've learned my lesson. read more

I was very disappointed with the customer service from New Surface. We have an old house and were looking to resurface our tub while remodeling our bathroom, which we are doing ourselves. We have remodeled bathrooms before, but this was the first time we resurfaced a tub. We didn't feel like there was good communication prior to our appointment about what needed to be ready before the work could be done. On the day of the job, it was pointed out several times, that the bathroom wasn't ready (we would have taken care of these details beforehand, but didn't know). We apologized and compensated them for their time, but they went overboard in being rude during the whole ordeal and criticized the work we had done on our bathroom. It looks like from other reviews that they do good work, which I'm sure they do, but definitely need to work on communicating better and people skills. read more

We were remodeling our kitchen and had a granite counter we were not replacing. We were planning on having our kitchen sink removed along with the tile work. Unfortunately, we found out the kitchen sink removal would be a major job since it was installed several years ago. I was told we could get a "kit" from Home Depot to fix the chip from one of the companies that came out. Well those don't work. Luckily I found New Surface and received a call back immediately. I have to admit I was a little skeptical that you would be able to see the repair after the work was done but it was worth the chance to me. New Surface was able to schedule an appointment rather quickly since it was the end of the week and he was just finishing other jobs in my area. The sink looks great and you really can't tell it was repaired. Tim does take great pride in matching the colors. He mixed colors until it was perfect. I am very happy this was the route we were able to take. In the past I have been asked by companies if I would review them when I have been satisfied. I was not asked by this company but just wanted to give the review. read more
