Installed new hardwood bedroom flooring and refinished living room. Paid extra for 3 coats of commercial finish, used a cheaper residential finish. Took over a year of denial that the cheaper finish was used before finally adding only one coat of the commercial finish. A couple of the newly installed flooring buckled. Took nearly a year to finally agree to repairs, but did not replace buckled boards, as is the industry standard, only tacked backed down so when the boards re-buckled another, months more of repair excuses. An outside Contractor replaced buckled boards, with the promise from Jose that he would reimburse me. Months later, I am still waiting for the promised reimbursement. There are some other uneven newly installed boards that I choose to overlook as they are more cosmetic. I chose this Contractor because of the positive reviews, was not expecting such a poor outcome. read more

My entire home's red oak floors had been covered with carpet for over 50 years and surprisingly the floor was in good condition. A few areas needed repairs from water damage and buckling and José's work seamlessly blended in so nicely that you can't even tell where the repairs are. The original honey oak stain was sanded the beautiful wood floors emerged and transformed the whole house. Jose had a good choice of Bona stains and narrowed down to three that were sampled on the floors for me to choose. I'm doing a water-based stain and Tung Oil sealer on my 100-year-old hardwood floors that requires a very smooth (#180 to #220 grit) surface. I hired another company to do a hardwax oil finish but they stained it the wrong color, and stained it poorly, so I hired a second company to resand it to #180 grit and start over... but that guy only sanded to #120 and then told me it was "basically the same as 180" and couldn't come back to fix it for a week which has caused me endless headaches on the two rooms I already had stained before I realized he hadn't sanded them smooth enough... So I called Jose at Capital Valley Floors to come and sand the remaining rooms to #180. Of the 3 flooring guys I hired, Jose is the only one who actually listened to what I asked for, read the links I sent him explaining the finish I was doing and why and how the floor should be sanded for that finish, and he's the only one who did what he said he would.
