Came to this spot really just to add another review to my Yelp a day Google page but I have to say this place did not disappoint. I normally don't go to into bar themed places but this spot does it's job as a restaurant. Despite some of the reviews here, I can't really complain. Other than the waiting time, the food is delicious, it's fairly affordable and the service from the woman taking orders was efficient. The vibe of the place is kinda foreign from what I'm used to it's comfortable. I'll be here again soon. read more

The Worst Customer Service Ever from both the telephone operator and the manager on site. I ordered chicken fried rice and got an egg chicken fried rice. I travel from Brooklyn to Queens to get this meal. I do not eat eggs and was not aware the chicken fried rice was made with eggs. After discovering the egg mixed with the rice, I called to explain my situation and received the worst customer response ever. I will never buy from New Thriving South Ozone again. This review is ONLY for takeout. I like the food from here. I don't know what Yelp means when they categorize this place as "Modern American" because really it is a cross between West Indian/Caribbean and Chinese food. So not "American" at all. I've never actually stepped foot in the restaurant so I cannot comment on service, decor, cleanliness, efficiency, etc. They do take a long while to deliver. Anyways, I'm a huge fan of the fried rice and pepper chicken. The pork, jerk chicken, and chow mein is delicious as well and I've heard good things about the pepper shrimp. We've ordered catered portions for bbqs and what have you and the food has always been plentiful and well made. It's located right on Liberty Ave - if you're in the area and in the mood for this type of food, I would say New Thriving is worth a try. They also deliver! read more

Do NOT go here!! Ordered fried shrimp and there was hair curled all up into the shrimp (see photo). I found out when I got all the way home! I called to explain my frustration and they told me to come back. I live 40 minutes away so I couldn't drive back at 10pm at night. I sure went there the next day to return my full order of food! Instead of apologizing for the big piece of hair they asked if I wanted to redo my order, absolutely not I want a refund. Then I also returned their chicken wings because it was extremely red on the inside, now it was not raw but it was red because of whatever method they use to cook the chicken (most likely precook then cook when you order). After I returned the food, the manager instructed her employee to throw the shrimp away but to take the other food to the kitchen. I'm sorry what, all of the food should be trashed! This review is only for the chicken fried rice as it's the only thing I've purchased from here.(Takeout) Pros: Great price and lots of food. Cons :The flavor just wasn't there for me as other places I've tried. The hot sauce wasn't hot either nor had any taste. I probably wouldn't return and unfortunately can't recommend that particular dish. Ok so first off I was extremely excited to try this place out because all my friends are Guyanese and always raving about this place! I went in with my guy and he ordered the chicken lomein and I the chicken garlic with rice. I honestly loved it! He states it was too greasy for his liking... But I devoured those plates. Worth place ever. I normally order from this location and I know the waiting time for delivery is always more than an hour. I was okay with that and decided to order last weekend. I placed my order and was told a hour for delivery. After a hour passed I called back to check on my order and gave the employee my address and she said the delivery guy is out with all of the orders right now. So I waited another hour and called back and was told the delivery guy is now at home, and all deliveries have been made. They have no idea why my delivery wasn't made nor can they find my order anywhere. There was no apology for the Mistake, or sympathy at all. They were more annoyed with me calling twice!!! Foods amazing here. Close to home amazing. I love the Lo Mein & Pepper shrimp. My parents are very loyal to this restaurant & recommends it to everyone. It's not everyday you walk into a Guyanese Chinese restaurant & order food that actually taste like home. So I'm very thankful for this gem. Not sure why this location is a lot better than the one closer to 120th street anyways, this is the place to be for authentic Caribbean Chinese food!!! Their fried rice is so flavorful and chow mein (or is it called lo mein?) is extremely juicy! Yes, noodles can be "juicy". Their pepper shrimp is the perfect level of spicy and the chicken is cooked well (not the best but still good)! I never dined-in here because the noise level is just too loud, i always order by phone then pick it up. My parents are huge fans of this place and they almost never like anywhere. read more

Lord Jesus, this food was the epitome of complete utter shit. This garbage food was nowhere near as good as the food from the restaurant "New Chun Feng". This food made me want to crap so hard, my anus was actually in pain. Their brain dead delivery boy took nearly half an hour before he could figure out where I even was.
