Parked right in front of the farmer's market on the street, but you can probably park by Juicy Platters and walk the half block over. I must've read the prices wrong, because I was short $2 and change, and extremely flustered on the spot as I didn't have anything extra on me. I must've looked desperate, asking if there was an ATM in the store or nearby, because the woman behind the counter (owner, or wife of owner) was kind enough to let me go, and told me to bring it next time I come. How kind and generous!! Really wasn't expecting that at all. They also offer free edamame with your order, but I already felt guilty enough about the $2 so I declined. As for the actual rolls, well they aren't the best I've had, but they're still decent with a light and fresh taste. I ordered the Fresh Maine Roll and the Red Dragon Roll. Located in a nice farmers market, tucked into the front corner, there are two Asian men that did not speak much English, I knew I was in the right place. Well, thanks to Yelp I plan to frequent both New Tokyo and the market often. Pickled ginger and wasabi were among the freshest I've ever had; spicy and delicious. Ordered Nuclear Protein, Catepillar, and California rolls, and took a package of shumai home. As others have said they give out free edamame. Rolls were definitely fresher than other places I've eaten sushi from. You can taste the quality in every bite. Preparation was quick; less than ten minutes for everything. Price points are comparable if not slightly less than other sushi restaurants in the area. But, perceived value is higher because of the fresher and higher quality ingredients. Menu is a little smaller than what I would like, but their offerings are vastly different incorporating different fruits and vegetables. Side by side I'll come back to New Tokyo over Maguro and that's saying a lot. read more

But quality is pretty good, price is reasonable, so I would say this is a solid sushi takeout place. This little sushi joint is hidden inside the Farmers Market. There is no seating area so it is a takeout place only. And please note that it is cash only. The staff are very nice and many times they would give me free edamame with the order. Just be sure to check the hours. I don't think they are open on Sundays. Weekdays they also close fairly early. Normally I get the salmon special which is the salmon cucumber roll and salmon nigiri. There's a bit more rice to fish ratio than I would like and many times the rice is still slightly warm. I do have to say that one of my pet peeves is sushi with warm rice. The fish they use is so fresh and of good quality, the prices are also pretty reasonable. Ordered the Rainbow and Banzai rolls and enjoyed both as they were fresh and the kiwi paired nice with the tuna. They even give you complimentary edamame on the house. Other things to note is they serves miso soup out of packets, and they are cash only. They give you free edamame which is a bonus. Otherwise the hunt for take out or delivery near Paramus continues. I tend to always visit this sushi spot maybe once every 2 week due to that the supermarket they are locate in is the only one that tend to sell the hand press coconut juices that I really like.
