Lucky star

After getting a recommendation from a friend, I decided it was time to try this place. I called the order in for pickup rather than seamless (prices are JACKED up, $4 more per special roll!). It was an easy drive so definitely worth buying direct. The man who answered the phone chuckled at me ordering so many special rolls which I thought was funny. Upon arrival, parking was very easy (there is a lot that wraps around the back). They were busy at the time I called (7:15pm) and said 40-45 minutes which was accurate. The tiny takeout restaurant was chock full of Asian goodies you can pick up - a freezer full of mochi ice cream, pocky, kimchi, teas, snacks, sauces and so forth. They offered me another side dish to take for free, probably because I had bought so much food and it was nearing the end of the night. I grabbed the oshinko. Nice and bright shop with the chefs actively making sushi behind the counter and a register on the left. Everyone was so friendly and said hello/goodbye and I waved back and said my thanks. The bag of sushi was packed so nicely but it tipped over on the car ride home of course. Still managed to get decent pictures once things were rearranged. The rolls I ordered included 2 Hollywood, lucky star, lemon sky, lobster salad dynamite, and crab dynamite. I enjoyed all of them, so it is hard to choose a favorite. Several of them had onion crunch which I enjoy. The lemon sky has small pieces of cut lemon slice so just be aware you are eating lemon rind. It gave a nice zestiness but I would have preferred just lemon zest or juice rather than a chunk. All of the rolls were quite large and I had plenty leftover. The oshinko are pretty strong in flavor and on the salty side but I didnt hate it. Seaweed salad had a kick of spice and wasn't watery. Individual mochi ice creams were perfectly sweet and creamy with mild flavor. Overall, the prices were reasonable if you order direct and everyone is super nice here. Will be back for more.

Hollywood Roll, Maguro Lover Roll Set

Food: ordered the maguro lover roll set and Hollywood roll and was very satisfied with both! Everything was really fresh from the fish, rice, and garnishes. The nigiri was killer and really enjoyed the food here as always. Service: ordered for pickup and everything was made to order. The staff here is friendly and willing to accommodate any requests every time I come here. Value: Maguro has typical costs for amazing quality. If in the area I would highly recommend this place. I've been coming here for several years and have NEVER been disappointed.

Good quality and excellent value! Makes for wonderful take home platters that are delicious and beautiful. Lunch specials are affordable. I appreciate how everything is so fresh. They really try hard to not cut corners and give you quality. To go orders are packed really well, stacked with cardboard if you order more. It's always nice they go extra step to make sure your food is in tact.

Nothing really stood out to me as far as flavor or noodle texture. The curry was almost all just sauce over rice so I would pass on this dish next time. Loved the fried chicken though. Crunchy non the outside and super juicy on the inside. The dipping sauce had a slight kick to it but was manageable. The gyoza was average as well. Overall, a pleasant experience. What started as a handful of niche noodle shops is now a full-on culinary movement. All across Jersey, ramen chefs are crafting rich broths, house-made noodles, and inventive toppings that delight the senses. Located on State Street in Hackensack, I frequent this establishment numerous times during the year. Ramen Azuma pours out their soul in preparing perfectly the classic Japanese cuisine. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the staff and got an empty table by the window inside their cozy and inviting vibe. Their menu features a wide selection of ramen, curry, and appetizers. I decided on their newest edition--Wonton Ramen and 3 pieces of Fried Chicken. The savory ramen soup was filled with shrimp wontons. Even though they were very thin wonton wrappers with a smaller amount of filling, they tasted consistent with other shrimp wontons from past restaurants, accompanied by Menma Bamboo, Scallions, and Egg. The Fried Chicken was well seasoned. The food overall remained authentic and incredibly flavorful and on point. The portion was very generous. Friendly service, and the price was reasonable. Make sure one comes on an empty stomach.

Inside the store, ithere were table and cushiony seats available for dine-in. The menu had all the different teriyakis, side dishes, and sushi rolls available. Both items were ready in couple of minutes, super quick service. The chicken, shrimps and rice had good taste. Rice and vegetables seemed fresh too. P.S. As for my meal, the spring roll was fine, but the sushi rolls were not good. The green dragon roll (Shrimp tempura and cream cheese, avocado on top with eel sauce and masago on top) was the better of the two, but not great.... it really seemed like the avocado slices on top of the roll had been pickled, which I did not like. My second roll was the volcano roll (Spicy tuna on top of California roll with spicy mayo, scallion and crunchy flakes on top) which tasted fishy to me and I didn't eat much of. I would not try Sarku Japan again

It's a cute little sushi spot tucked away in a corner near the Walgreen's in Lodi, but also nearby a mainstay in Lodi that could provide potential competition - Ya Food - Zheng's Garden. Not to conflate Japanese and Chinese food together, especially as an Asian-American of Japanese and Korean ancestry - however in the United States, many people who have a hankering craving for "Asian food" certainly may not argue a difference, and that may be key to most people. I've eaten their shrimp shumai and pork dumplings, and honestly they are par-for-the-course; not terrible by any means, but certainly average. Their miso soup is very good - offering nice chunks of tofu in with large pieces of kombu seaweed, as well as their shrimp tempura; but then again, it's VERY hard to screw up miso soup and frying some shrimp. I have yet to try any of their traditional nigiri sushi pieces; but I did notice a bit of lack of variety in their offerings of more traditional forms of sushi compared to the overly-sensationalized and Americanized sushi rolls such as a "Mexican roll", whatever that's trying to be. All in all, so far Yama Sushi has hit me as an average Americanized Japanese sushi spot. I'll definitely come back to try their actual sushi, and I'll revisit my review during that time.

Their bubble tea is absolutely delicious and fairly priced. Their poke bowl has fresh ingredients. So when an opportunity came up to meet in the vicinity of this restaurant, I brought myself and two guests to experience the poke in person. It did not disappoint! Nestled among a smaller shops in a strip mall off of Market Street (off of North 5th Street), Waikiki Poke & Ramen is a place definitely worth stopping by. There's ample parking in the surrounding area of the strip mall so it's a small walk towards the restaurant. Once you enter you are greeted with an Instagram-able wall, with various colored posted that guests can write and post messages. It was fun reading through them and leaving some as well in the end. The restaurant is small, quaint, and cafeteria style, the counter where the Poké bowl ingredients are visible is well organized and clean. A nice selection of Japanese teas and other drinks are available to enjoy with the meal as well as bottled water. The price is on point for Poké bowl of their size and the Sashimi-ed raw fish, and the vegetables were all fresh and delicious! My guests enjoyed it well. I was so excited to visit the place then I couldn't help myself by letting them know how much I enjoy their food and how many times I've ordered online. I wasn't sure if they understood me because they didn't seem very interested? In any case I still enjoy the food, but I think it might be better to just order it online for me as it is quite a far distance for me to drive to enjoy it in person. Overall, we were able to enjoy our meal slowly as we had much catching up to do.. The shop was not particularly busy during its lunch hour so the food was ready quite quickly, which was impressive. I would rate this as 5.0 for the food but 4.5 for the customer experience aspect. It is a recommendation that they at least acknowledge or interact with people who expresses positively for enjoying their food. Because this is not an open food court situation and it is in a restaurant even after you paid for the food and sat down and eat it it would be nice for them to also interact in some capacity just felt a bit standoffish in my opinion.
