I know people often hate being the first to write a review for a place and honestly I meant to…read morewrite one after the first service I had done here several months ago but forgot. With that being said, I'll break the ice and say that this place is fantastic! I've been here twice now for services on my SUV which has been far less reliable than it should've been and repairs for it are generally on the higher side in terms of price. I moved out to this area about 6 months ago and most of my work takes me to the downtown DC area and everywhere in between. The first service came after the exhaust and catalytic converter decided it was time to rust through and separate. My car drove poorly and was embarrassingly loud. It was stressful since repairs are generally very expensive on on this car and often must be fully replaced if non rusted metal parts can't be welded properly together. With 120k+ miles, spending a small fortune on something that will grossly outlive my car wasn't really in my plans or budget. When I came in, the car was inspected and I was given the full range of options. I chose to try and weld it together which was a fraction of the cost to fully replace and less than a day later the car was fixed and running well. This past week, I finally managed to come by for another estimate for work on what I had thought was a single tie rod issue on the front right side. The car no longer felt safe to drive and I'm preparing for a long road trip across the county. The bad news was that it was both front tie rods and a wheel bearing but on the plus side, the cost to repair all wasn't much more than what I expected for just the single tie rod. These guys operate out of a small town that's easy to miss and run a very clean, professional shop. In both cases, they've taken as much time as necessary to explain the issues to me (someone with limited knowledge when it comes to repairs) and then fully explain my options both in relation to cost and effectiveness. My car was repaired today and done much quicker than I expected and it honestly hasn't felt this good to drive in a while, especially considering I'm close to 130,000 miles now. They are all very friendly and clearly knowledgable and explained everything without even the slightest bit of condescension (which we all probably agree is rare for repair shops). Would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone with 100% confidence and will continue to take my vehicle to this shop as long as I'm living in the Maryland area. Great shop and great people working there!!

The insurance company made us take our car to another body shop in the area. Two days after we…read moredropped it off, they more than doubled their initial estimate. I left D&J a voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday night to get a second opinion. He called me back within 15 minutes and explained all of my options better than the other shop and the car insurance company combined. Then, on Monday, once I had seen the car and taken pictures, he gave me a $100 solution to what the other company wanted $3300 for (and should have seen in the first estimate) and said another piece they claimed needed to be fixed was structurally sound. He offered to work with me to get secondhand parts to fit within my budget if I chose to salvage the car or drop the insurance claim- and I never paid him a dime for his services! I wish I would have taken our car to D&J instead of going through insurance and the other company. They are honest, communicative and truly have the customer's best interests in mind!

I used New Bill's Autobody to perform a Maryland Safety Inspection on my vehicle. Sadly, I was not…read moreimpressed with their service, and this is not due to the fact that my car failed the first round of inspection. It is because I was told and then confirmed that I had EITHER 1,000 miles OR 30 days to fix my car and have it reinspected. However, upon my return to DJ's I was told the complete opposite by the same person. Instead of being within the 1,000 mile OR 30 day limit, one actually needed to be between within 1,000 miles AND within 30 days. As a result, I am now expected to take off more time from work to wait the obligatory two hours to have my car reinspected after I was assured that I did not have to follow both rules in order to be within the grace period after a failed inspection. But what really broke the straw was that the certified mechanic started working on another vehicle and I had to wait until he finished even though I had an appointment for that time. I cannot speak to their handiwork when it comes to repairs, but I can say, based off of my own experience, that New Bill's cannot effectively speak to their clients, and have poor customer service. And in the end they have caused a lot of wasted time and money in the long run.
