I casually mentioned I was getting my windshield fixed tomorrow in Lilburn at Safelite and it was going to be around $1,000 (insurance wouldn't cover it). My appointment was at 1:00, (3 hours minimum) and they couldn't promise it would be $1k, might be more, depending on what they ended up having to do. Stephen said, MOM...they are the most expensive place! Did you call around for estimates?" Well, I had just asked a few people and they all said Safelite. If you know me, you will have a hard time believing I didn't call around. I squeeze a dime until it screams - but this time I didn't. I googled and found a company in Grayson that had all 5 stars with many reviewers. I called and spoke to Jonathan (who I found out later was the owner). He quoted less than half the price Safelite quoted AND THEY WOULD COME TO MY HOUSE!!! OK, now I'm listening. I want you to know he was at my house a couple of hours later, installed the windshield, calibrated it (Toyota's have to be calibrated with a windshield change), cleaned my dashboard and sat with me to explain everything he did. The quality control of this business is disappointing. I had their most expensive tint added to two…read morewindows. On the first attempt the tint was cut short on the drivers side, allowing a light gap. I brought it back the same day and had to schedule another appointment to have it fixed. No apology or acknowledgement for the inconvenience of having to schedule another appointment. On the second attempt they scratched the new tint in multiple different places. I have given it a couple days to cure in the sun hoping the scratches would cure out, but I can feel them with my finger. It really gives the impression that they don't check the work when it's done and they are trying to get the car out of their shop as quickly as possible. I'm not new to tint and I understand there is no perfect tint job. I understand debris and small bubbles. I will say it is unacceptable to deliver tint that doesn't cover the sides of the glass and deep scratches on the new redone tint. I paid for a service and it's not unreasonable to expect the basic industry quality standards. No one has time to schedule two hour appointments each week hoping it comes out better the next time. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
