This place is awesome. It's not really a New York diner though. It's a fantastic Mexican spot wearing a disguise. The food is average at best. I asked for a refill for my soft drink. They were going to take my glass and refill it in back. I asked to keep my glass and just bring a half glass of coke and refill mine. I have to keep my glass as I need to drink something after each bite. The waiter did not understand my request and got the manager. He couldn't do it. I said, "it's the same thing as you taking my glass to the back." He said it was not the same thing and it was two different glasses. I told him not to worry about it. Left no tip. First time in ten years I've left no tip. Don't bother with this place. read more

I had breakfast here with a friend on a Saturday morning. We were seated right away. It stayed pretty busy up until around noon and the crowd started to fizzle, but remained steady. I ordered banana pancakes and loved that they were cooked in the batter and not just on top. I also had a side of bacon. It's a really nice sized diner with lots of booths and tables. The service is pretty great. They are very attentive and your food comes out pretty quickly. read more

If you need a overstimulating decor restaurant, this might be your place. Twice we made a comment that we were "forgotten" about with zero drink refills and no check in mid meal. The food came out fast but wasn't anything special. Neither of us finished our meals and left disappointed. The prices were affordable, so that made it not as painful. read more

This place is such a funky spot. I love it. Yes, diner food but also TexMex style food. We've been for breakfast and enjoyed our meals. This most recent time, we both got the traditional Breakfast Special but I've also had their tacos and found them to be delicious. My experience there was horrible. Our server was a man with a high ponytail and bad service. He rushed us over to the table and brought us drinks and never came back to us. When I tried to get his attention, he looked at me, rolled his eyes and walked away to continue talking to another server. They both looked at us and walked away. Awful done with this place. Been here dozens of time it is now got to the 1 star level. Placed a simple breakfast order I got barely cooked eggs, cold toast and coffee. They never once checked on me or refilled my cup even after sking for someone to come by. Then after I got ky check and about to leave they offer me decaf. When I asked where was our waiter they got angry. Never going back. Don't tip if service sucks don't complain eithrr, theh dont care. I guess the NY in NY Diner fits. read more

One of the best burgers I've had in a while. The beef was flavorful and cooked just right, and the toppings were fresh and generous. The bun was toasted just enough to give it a nice texture. The portion was perfect, and the overall meal was super satisfying. read more

That being said, I was disappointed a Rubén needs to be salty, sweet sour Hardy and slightly bitter. The kitchen needs to order a different sauerkraut that is more sour. They should have a homemade thousand island sauce corn beef was very, very good but very little of it. I did not get the spiciness and bitterness of the pepper in the Rubén. I suggest that they may pepper and slightly salt the sandwich. I give this a two out of five. read more

Whew, what self respecting New Yorker could resist a diner, tucked away in Raleigh North Carolina with the banner of New York Diner upon it. As it was Sunday morning, there was a wait as there were ten in our group, but the management went thru extraordinary lengths to seat all of us close together. A glance at the menu and my eyes settled upon a western omelet complete with a side of buttermilk pancakes, just show that there was a country side of me also. We came here for a Saturday morning breakfast. We LOVE diner type places and thought to give this place a try. Based on the food and such... I am okay not coming back here. It just seems like that they are trying to do too much. Breakfast menu, burger and fries menu, Mexican menu, and Italian menu. Just pick something and make it amazing. Food: Pancakes are decent but you can tell they are packed with extra sugar so becareful with syrup. Breakfast ham is literally lunch meat heated on a grill. It was actually really gross. Service: Service was the only redeeming quality. They have a nice staff Atmosphere: everything felt like it was a shade of orange. Ceiling lights as flickered to the point it became uncomfortable to the eyes. Pricing: over priced for meh diner food. Definitely not worth the price we paid for the breakfast food we got. Maybe if we were to come and get something from their Mexican menu it would be better. If you are on the fence about eating here for breakfast... go somewhere else. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had a party of 6 for breakfast. One person in our party is a veteran who lost his leg and requires a wheelchair. They seated us at a table for 4 next to the bathroom. When I asked if we could move to the larger empty table, the answer was NO! That table is for 8 only! The restaurant was 2/3 empty and nobody was waiting and plenty of seats. I asked one more time nicely and he said NO again. When I told him we couldn't fit and needed the bigger table, otherwise we would need to go somewhere else. He said fine, just leave! He then proceeded to argue with us all the way out the door saying it's the rules and too bad! I have personally recommended this place to at least 50 people but never again will they see a single one of us. I give them a big fat Zero rating. read more
