I started with the lobster egg roll as my appetizer, and it was so delicious. The flavor of the egg roll was rich, and the sauce had a sweetness that paired nicely with the lobster. The crust crackled perfectly with each bite. For my main dish, I had the cheesesteak sub. The steak was incredibly savory, and the bread was grilled to perfection with a great crust. I agree with other reviewers that this is a little bit of a hidden gem! I have driven by numerous times on Capital Boulevard and never noticed this place existed until I saw a listing for it on Yelp. I decided to get takeout from this place and placed an online order. Just a heads up that the website doesn't give you a pickup time but I would say allow 30 minutes for pickup. Once you get there, give them a call and they will deliver your order to your car. There is also a dine in option as well. The interior of the building is a small space but it is beautifully decorated and it seems like it would be a cool spot to eat at! The menu is sort of eclectic in that there's a mix of Asian dishes, Italian dishes as well as subs/cheesesteaks! I ordered the champagne mango salmon and it was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the fried rice that came it was delicious. It also came with a side of lettuce. I'll have to try one of the Italian dishes next time. read more

We went in for a lunch stop on our way through Raleigh. Ambiance was cute, menu was kind of confusing as this name "grill station" is a tad misleading. Our waiter was very nice, friendly and attentive. Prices are quite high, but what got me was the extra costs they don't list ---dipping sauce for kids French fries (.50), water (1.99), pickles for your hamburger (1.00), auto populated tip (watch for this) 2 adults and 1 child for a lunch $67!!! Wow what a dining experience this was!! I was in town visiting a friend and she insisted we try this place out and I'm so glad she did. My friend was already their when I arrived and as soon aaa I walked in the door I was immediately greeted by Steven who showed me to where she was sitting and brought me a menu. My friend ordered some Blooming Tea and asked for a water and proceeded to take a look at the menu. And what an eclectic menu it is. There's your standard am aero can dishes like chicken wings, wraps, and subs. Then there's quesadillas and a whole page devoted to Hibachi. I think they also have some specialty items that they offer because my friend ordered Curry and that was definitely not on the menu. After looking for a bit Steven came over and made some really great recommendations. I decided to go with the Steak Sub w/ fries. My friend also ordered the lobster egg roll for an appetizer and that came out first. It was perfectly crispy, well seasoned and came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Next Steven started to bring out the tea. He brought it over in a clear tea pot and explained how you are suppose to watch it blossom as it steeps. This whole experience was so cool because as he brought out everything he explained it's relevance to Chinese culture. It really was aa unique experience. After a few minutes of watching the tea blossom it was ready! He showed us how to drink it and how you should smell it before you drink it as the tea has the ability to calm and relax. Our food came out shortly after the tea. My sub was great though I wish I had tried something a little more adventurous. I tasted my friends curry and it was pretty good too! This was my first time going and my initial was this place is VERY DISGUSTING. It had a very bad smell when i walked in. It smelled like an old furniture store. The customer service was terrible. My group of four decided to give Aggie's a try, as we'd seen it on the visitraleigh.com website as a true "hidden gem" to try. Hidden Gem might mean eclectic as well. Ben (owner?/cook?/host?) is extremely friendly and welcoming. He greeted us after we were seated and proceeded to go over much of the menu and why certain dishes were so good and recommended. One of his many (at times long-winded) soliloquies was on his 116 year old (I may have not heard him correctly) grandmother and the "Blooming Flower" tea she drinks regularly along with an oft repeated comparison to our need to take care of the inside of our bodies (Iike a car) versus just the outside. Certainly sound advice. We did let opt in for the tea-service and it was quite interesting and enjoyable. Some others have posted pictures of the presentation. We started with 8 wings, 4 each of hot and medium. They were awesome. Some of the best I've had in Raleigh. Crispy and meaty. Mild sauce was basically doctored up Yum-Yum and medium was a mild sweet chili. I'd love to get an order and take home to toss in some classic buffalo, which isn't an option. Now, regarding the entrees. Based on Ben's recommendation, one of our party ordered the Cheesesteak Sandwich. I ordered the steak quesadilla. My wife had the grilled shrimp and noodles and another had the pineapple chicken. I honestly can't say much good about any of it. The philly cheese and steak quesadilla were both filled with chopped, bland, steakum like meat with a small bit of melted provolone. "Asian" dishes were no better than any standard frozen entrée or pedestrian Chinese buffet. When Ben brought the bill, the tea service, which is not on the menu, was $10, which was perfectly acceptable. However, as some other reviewers have noted, there were some sneaky little add-ons that seem tacky. We didn't ask for honey with the tea, but he tacked on an extra $2.00 for it. He had also asked us if we wanted "Seasoned" fries instead of regular with two of the entrees. These turned out to be tossed in seasoned salt rather than regular but warranted a $3.00 each upcharge on the bill. Aggies is an interesting experience. Temper you culinary expectations and it's somewhat worth the experience. Ben might want to consider just running the front of house as kind of a dinner show/master of ceremonies and hiring someone to reimagine the menu as well as cook. read more

Went to Aggies for a celebration lunch after my 15 year old got his drivers permit. waited forever for our food (chicken tenders, fried shrimp, side of fries, egg roll). Shrimp came out first for me and my son. 10 minutes later my other son got his chicken tenders. A few minutes later my egg roll came out. I had to get up and ask about the side of fries. I work in a restaurant and I've never heard of ALL of your food coming out at different times. Then when I get the bill, 15% gratuity is added to a table of THREE! unheard of! the server told me it's just what their system automatically does. WOW! Awful service and mediocre food. I actually walked across the street to visit this restaurant. I mean, 4.5 stars is something worth checking out, right? The small establishment was quaint, aptly decorated with warm colors, colorful paintings and Asian influences. I sat at a two-top and admired the vibrant plants and lighting. I intended to order a Asian dish but the server encouraged me to try to steak sub. STEAK SUB, at a Chinese restaurant?!? Ok, I'll bite. It came out minutes later served with fries. The first bite surprised my taste buds. Wow! Flavor bursts, delicate meat, and perfectly crafted bread satisfied my senses. I lived in Philly and have had my share of cheesesteaks. I must say this was the finest sub south of Philadelphia. After congratulating the owners with such a good sandwich, they allowed me to sample their pride and joy, their own asian-inspired chicken wings. OMG. Spicy, succulent, crispy, and tender chicken wings cannot be duplicated. It appears this eatery has mastered a multitude of cuisines. Try any one of them. The best way I can describe this place is a restaurant that is like a food court in a mall. Check out their website and you'll see what I mean. They have hot subs, salads, Italian items, Asian selections, wings,quesadillas, wraps and burgers. Their website is very order-friendly. I know next time I go, I'll order ahead of time and pick it up. With a name that includes "grill station", I guess I expected a giant grill to be in sight, but walking in, it was part-store (again mall-like), part doctor's office waiting room (magazines and chairs for waiting for take-out although one was three months old and the other three years old!), and charming little dining rooms, plus an inviting counter for ordering. You can buy potato chips, or a purse, or jewelry, but no grill to be seen. Service: FRIENDLY! Greeted warmly, smiles abound, and the gal that took my order even came around from behind the counter to hand me and another guest our take-outs. Food: I chose the Champagne Mango Salmon, because the description sounded amazing: "Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon naturally steamed with olive oil, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, sesame seed, and sweet teriyaki sauce, with drizzle of champagne mango and red pepper, served with fresh lettuce, and fried rice with diced carrots, peas, onions, corn and string beans.". What I got, while pretty good, didn't quite match up with that description. I didn't detect any cilantro, lime juice, sesame seed or teriyaki sauce. The veggies in the fried rice seemed like frozen mixed veggies with the nice addition of fresh onion. They gave me a very tasty mayo-type sauce to go with this. And the fish had more of a white mayo type sauce rather than teriyaki. What was really lacking with the salmon was texture. Had there been fresh red pepper and the sesame seed and cilantro it would have added some needed texture. The salmon itself was cooked well. I will also add that this might not have been the best dish to order as a take-out, perhaps it would have been better to eat-in. All-in-all I would put this more in the 3 1/2 star range, but am rounding up because I am curious to go back and try more. read more

I really want to like this place, but my recent visit leaves me as confused as my visit in July of 2013. The name doesn't match the menu. The decor is - - - I dunno. Asian-Euro-Metro? It is nice decor but it really is an odd mix. And what's with the showcase of jewelry, purses and toys in the display case as you enter? My guest ordered a cup of coffee with her meal. When we asked for a refill the server explained that they have specialty coffee and as such no free refills. Free coffee refills is the norm in this area, and having to pay for a refill was a definite negative to our dining experience. Having said that, the hamburger my guest ordered and the sub that I had were both of ample size and good taste. Server was conversational and friendly. I have eaten here twice and had the same thought both times - Robert Irvine (Restaurant Impossible) would have a field day with this place! read more

I've ordered here maybe 3 times in the past month by delivery. Each time the food was fresh, hot, and made as ordered. A little pricier than expected, but I can't really complain. One hiccup and a turn off was ordering the shrimp spring rolls. For $5.00 I received these two, although tasty, crispy rolls No bigger than my thumbs. I honestly thought there had to be more, but realized that was it. I still think it was a mistake and I wish I took a pic, but I will never buy those again if that is the true amount and size. I highly discourage anyone from ordering those via delivery at least. Other than that, I enjoy this spot and will continue to give them my business. read more

So we searched Yelp for places close and the reviews made us come. You reviewers are nuts. This place is BIZARRE. The waiter, who's name I dont remember, was the only good thing about this place. HE WAS AWESOME. And if the food was as good as he sold it, it would have been ideal. Alas, it TWASN'T. Italian sub, Phili Cheesesteak, Quesadilla with PROVOLONE??? On an Asian menu. BIZARRE. Had the "award winning" Bourbon Hibachi rice. Looked and tasted like it came out of a frozen food/microwaved bag. Chicken wings were pretty good. Thats it. "Fresh made Lemonade??" This place is a wild experience! From the moment you walk into the restaurant, to the time you walk out, anything could happen! They have a small shop right as you walk in selling cheap jewelry and watches. Funny but odd...they have tables and chairs with super high backs made out of leather in there dining room that look like they belong in a mansion or ment for a king or queen. Then the other tables are just regular. The utensils look like they came straight out of a magic witches town or something! Their decorations are all over the place from shells you would find at the beach, to skulls of animals, to neon pink fur mats, to live betta fish! Their dishes the food comes on they serve you are very unusual but fun! Their blooming tea is a whole entire flower in your tea pot, really good with their raw honey!. There is usually only one gentlemen who is doing everything and he loves to chat! I dont mind because he has an awesome personality and has good conversations with you!. Lastly, their menu has everything from meatballs subs to Chinese food, to Italian food and wings! Everything tasted great and was very generous portions! This place is AMAZING. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but this is a hidden gem. They have a huge menu with various types of food (Asian, American, Italian, Latin, etc.). The service was great! We went on a special occasion and the manager sang Happy Birthday to our table in Chinese. He went out of his way to make sure our group was having a great time.
