Definitely not a bad alternative if you're not looking to drive all the way to Richardson for Halal Guys in Richardson. Was not busy at all when I arrived. I am unsure whether or not they still send out coupons in Ad Pages (my incentive to come here in the first place). It is a fairly small place to dine, but their expansion has given more seating room. I was honestly surprised as to how good the plates tasted. The mix platter is a must if you want a good variety of everything they offer. I was a bit hesitant at first about eating this type of food/cuisine, but I soon regretted not having tried it earlier after a couple bite in. Food is great. I find myself craving it often and get it every time I'm in town. Usually get the manhatan mix plate and add fries to it, and I've never had any complaints. Their hot sauce is pretty spicy, and the white sauce helps even out the heat. Definitely recommend. read more

They were pretty hesitant to let me have the "Hell's Kitchen" platter. They said I should taste the sauce first because it was so spicy and that there were no refunds. I'm kind of amazed that someone had the balls to demand a refund after ordering a dish with so many warnings on it, but I guess people can be pretty crazy. Anyway I ordered it without trying the sauce, and it was fairly spicy but not nearly what I was expecting after all the fuss! Absolutely delicious, and I love that it has fries on top of it. From NY style Pizza , Gyro, Halal chicken to My favorite "Falafal Wraps". Most of my friends at UTA recommend me this place for it's Falafal over rice and mixed plate. They have tried to replicate "Halal Guys" recipe nicely. Close, but not perfect! Most important thing they have three differet sauces and white sauce (yogurt sauce) is really close to what I had in NYC. For ambience, they have paintings of Brooklyn Bridge and Empire state but I would say 'try to keep it NY style COMFY ! ' If you are in Arlington for a football game or just hanging at university, this place is a 'must visit' value for money spot ! read more

This place is AWESOME. I always get the combination platter. The falafel is always moist and flavorful. Veggies are FREE to add. You can top it with fries (do this) and choice spicy sauces or none. The sauce is pretty hot! If you want more spice then order the Hell's Kitchen platter. I've can handle spicy food but that thing is up there on the scoville chart for sure. If you enjoy this kind of food there is no reason not to try it. read more

First time here and it was a success. One of my friends at Starbucks was eating one and I asked where he got it from. Which lead me here and I got a Jackson heights platter and a Mediterranean platter with pita and was beyond more for your money but the Taste was amazing. Best thing is you can pick up the heat a little more if you would like. The lady that took my order was nice and was quick to explain. A minimalistic experience from the beginning to the end. Small place located perfectly for UT Arlington goers. Place looks very shoddily organized and disarrayed inside. I tried the gyro, chicken and falafel platter over rice with pita bread and loved it. It was very flavorful and not overpowering so the last bite was just as good as the first bite. I love that the menu has different options within the same dish. You can go heavy or light depending on your appetite. You can get a chicken platter over French fries or chicken platter over lettuce. They have sauces to accommodate the menu items. I tried the White sauce and Hotter Sauce. The White sauce is a cross between light ranch and Tzatziki sauce. The Hotter Sauce is like a spicy Cayenne paste that adds a lot of heat. Loved them both. It's a small restaurant and I didn't go during busy hours so sitting was no problem. I assume being right by UTA it could get crowded and uncomfortable. They recently expanded the restaurant because of this so I couldn't imagine what it was like before. Food was what I was there for and it lived up to expectations so the space doesn't bother me too much. Definitely coming back to try the burgers and wraps. read more

Tried this place for the first time so my husband and I split an order. We ordered the cheese fries. Do yourself a favor and pass on these. They were soggy and the cheese well I'm not sure if it was cheese tasted like glue with the same consistency. NOW let's talk about the mixed combo plate with chicken and gyro with rice. The chicken was eh... but the gyro meat, rice, veggies with white and spicy sauce with pita topping was off the chain. I'd order this over and over again. They're baaackkkk! CRIES. I was so worried when they temporarily closed down, but now it's more like a real restaurant with the spacious remodeling and cool air interior! The entire time they went MIA, I was craving their mixed plates and gyros like no other and swore that if something lame replaces New York Eats, I will petition for them to come back. BEST gyros, in my opinion. The pita bread that holds it together is soft, fluffy, and airy and the meat is so tender. You can choose from chicken, lamb, or both. Packed with flavor and then those kicking red and creamy white sauces combine as the finishing blow. I love their platters also. I recommend the gyro, chicken, and falafel over rice plate for your first time, so that you can taste a little bit of everything and see what you like. The rice is mildly seasoned to match with all the other ingredients and it's a gorgeous bright orange color, with crunchy lettuce, and two crispy falafel patties. I had a falafel appetizer at Prince Lebanese once, and it was soooo dry and tasted weird. New York Eats does it right. Spice level is from 0-3 and you can add in pita bread or fries. These come in for free when you check in! Their fries are the kind that I adore-- less potato, super skinny, and overly golden crispy, like you're eating chips. Yaaas. Customer service is nice. If you come here regularly, the cashier will recognize you. To-go orders take about 5-8 mins if business is slow. They give you a take home menu, extra sauces, and spoons for you because they already know! ;) I always recommend NYE to anyone who enjoys Halal food. Here I got the Gyro wrap with double meat which was really good, they say it comes with their "magic white sauce" but don't be fooled it no Tzaztiki like you would expect with Gyro's but rather ranch. Now I'm not saying it wasn't good just saying I prefer Tzaztiki instead. The pita was fluffy and warm the meat was perfectly cooked. I also got an order of the killer garlic fries, which are these perfectly crispy thin cut French fries dripping in this delicious garlic oil I opened my box to find a pile of mince garlic on top of my fries and though it that was all they did to make them garlic fries I was going to be peeved but no they mile of garlic is just the cherry on top of these garlicy oily (in a good way) goodness. 100% would redo this order and you can find them on Uber Eats, which I know doesn't partner with Yelp but they really should. My only recommendation is that I ordered my fries via Uber Eats and so when I got them they were still warm but not hot so if you are going to get fries order them in store yourself then eat them there because like most fries they loose their magic once cold. Even the garlic doesn't save them once they get cold but I stuff as many as I could in my mouth while they were warm that's for sure. read more

Went in today told the cashier on hand that it was my first time visiting the location.. And she seemed just as excited as I was .. even helped me pick something to try for my first visit ! She recommended me the Manhattan mix place since it was a mix of of their menu and I have to admit it was really tasty not to mention she was very beautiful and had cool hair fluffy brown curls I will definitely be returning . next time I'm looking forward to tasting a burger after hearing that's her personal favorite . I came to this place after I stumbled upon it on Yelp and to my surprise it was right across the UTA parking lot. The restaurant is pretty small but this type of food is usually eaten in a hurry or on the run anyways. After looking at the menu, I opted for the gyro over rice. After I ordered, I had a little chat with the owner and it turns out he was from New York and moved to Arlington after his family told him we didn't have many quick and easy halal style food here. The owner and employees are very nice people. My food came out very fast and I smothered it in white sauce and hot sauce. You'll want to take some extra white sauce home, trust me. Their hot sauce was pretty good too. The owner said the hot sauce is authentic to the sauce you'd find at a halal cart in NYC. I had ordered to go so I quickly grabbed my food and drove home. This was probably a bad idea since the smell of the food in my car was so intoxicating. I got home and opened the container and started to dig in. The gyro meat was amazing and flavorful, not dry like some other places. The rice was also very nicely seasoned too. There was a small salad of lettuce, tomato, and onion in it as well. I've had the famous Halal Bros in Austin and in my opinion, New York Eats is on par if not better than Halal bros. Overall I give NY Eats 5 stars for great food, great service, cleanliness, quickness, and price. I'd definitely recommend this place to others and I already have.
