First time going to this place, and chose it because the good reviews. I will say they are friendly and get you in quick, but I was not satisfied with the service/results. I was happy with my pedicure, but thought it was a little pricey for what you get in the deluxe option. When it came to my acrylics, the lady I had tried to accomplish a reference photo I had brought in, but it was nowhere close after quite a bit of back and forth, and with me even saying if she couldn't do it to not worry about it. When she was done and walked out I realized 3 of my nails were crooked, and the color wasnt even - could see through and bumpy. I went back in to see if I could come back the next day for someone else to fix it, but they had the same lady work on them right then. Without me pointing out which ones were crooked, she instantly started reshaping the ones that were messed up, which tells me she knew they were crooked before. Then, she cut my pinky while filing the paint off, and instantly put something on it to stop the bleeding with no warning it was going to burn really bad. They tried to make up for me not getting the design I wanted, but I just wanted to get out of there at that point. Still gave them a good tip, and she did make them look a little better. However, I will not be returning. This is something I did to treat myself, and had been looking forward to it, but it was stressful, painful, and not worth the money I spent. read more

Don't bother if you want a decent pedicure. The only good thing was the massage chair and the massage on the pedicure. She didn't clean the cuticles when I asked about it instead of listening to my concerns she said she was goin to get to it (after drying my feet) continued to clip all on my cuticles . I got a fill for acrylic nails. First off, the place is not clean. My nails were lifting so I needed to get them fixed quickly. There was no wait (3:45 on a Tuesday), so I immediately sat down. She didn't really say anything to me at all, which is pretty normal for nail salons overall, but at the end, she asked me if I was working or in school and then where I worked. All the prices are posted on a board behind her and she proceeds to charge me close to $20 more than the price listed and ask for a tip (the minimum listed was 20% and there is no option to tip less or not at all). When I inquired as to why my nails were more expensive, she pretended like she didn't hear me/ didn't understand me. This went on for a few minutes and I just paid and left. Now for my actual nails. There is acrylic underneath on some of them and others the nail isn't attached at the end. They are incredibly sharp on the sides and underneath (I did square) and there are noticeable chips or smudges. Yeah, they were fixed in a pinch, but these will not last a week. I hadn't gotten a pedicure since moving to the Clifton area, and in true Yelp Elite style I went to the trusty app to find a place close to me. Located in Clifton Plaza, New York Nails looked like a great spot to try. I arrived as a walk in on a weeknight recently, and the place was already buzzing. Every nail tech was occupied, but it was only a short wait before I got into a pedicure chair and began to soak. The stress of the week melted away and I relaxed into the massage chair as the footpath bubbled like a magic cauldron. The nail tech did a great job with the pedicure and had a feather-light touch. In no time the polish was applied and I was on my way. Nearly two weeks later, the polish is still shiny and there is not a chip in sight! Okay well, I initially left a good review after coming here a few times but I have to change it now. I got my nails done here last Friday. The nail tech cut my cuticle completely off with the nail drill. I made no big deal about it there but I was shocked they didn't offer a discount or anything, whatever. Well after five days of furiously washing my hands and disinfecting the cut with an antibiotic ointment, it's infected. Doctor said there wasn't much I could do to have prevented it, as the tools used by the salon were most likely dirty. Be sooooo careful if you come here and be prepared to pay $70 for a set and another $50 for the doctors and antibiotics! Great salon! I was seated immediately on a Monday afternoon after work. I have gotten my nails done twice here and both times it's been a great experience; they just do a really, really good job. Some "fancier" salons I've been to in Louisville apply the polish right onto your cuticle so it snags on clothes and your hair as your nail grows out, but not here! I went to this nail shop initially by suggestion of a co-worker. It has been a long time since I've even had nails, so I said "why not?" WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS!!!!! OK---the first visit. I asked for an American Manicure (just like a French manicure, only the tips are more beige and not the stark white ones). It seemed to be an issue, so I chose a different polish color and my nails looked like a 10yr old girl with pink sparkles. I didn't like the polish and my nails were too wide. Got a polish change immediately. The second visit-- same nail tech. The nails were narrowed, cut down, but the polish was an issue--so I got clear. Once I got home, I polished my own nails. TODAY-- 3rd visit. Different nail tech. As a matter of fact, todays nail tech was sitting next to the nail technician who had done my nails twice before. Again, I asked for an American Manicure. The previous tech got out the polish for the service that I asked for and the woman didn't have a clue as to what I was referring to. I EVEN GOOGLED IT SO SHE COULD SEE IT--STILL CLUELESS. So again, I go to the polish wall and decide that I only wanted clear polish. LONG STORY SHORT--- if you want super long, dragon lady nails, filed down to the point to where they look like weapons that are done with all the crazy colors, stones, and are extremely ornate, then this may very well be your spot. I called in to ask if there would be a long wait and was assured there wasn't one. I asked to make an appointment for a pedi, and was told by Tom to just come in. I arrived 4 minutes later and sat in my pedi chair for 36 minutes. I could have dealt with that because the massage chair is very nice. When someone came over, I asked for a deluxe pedi ($10 more than the signature) because per the menu it included an essential oils soak and an extra scrub of my choosing to start the pedi off. My nail tech was rushing (by this time it was 30 minutes to closing) so I assumed she just forgot that part. When I brought it up, she informed me that the normal hot water was what the menu "meant" by a scrub and an essential oil soak, but because I was new there I didn't know that. She proceeded to rush through my pedi and talking to everyone else on the staff - hardly paying attention to what she was doing when applying lotion to my legs and using the callous tool. The paint was done well and the massage chairs were nice, but the service was very poor, it wasn't very clean and I was so disappointed with how the expectation was set regarding the wait time. read more

There are lots of nail shops all over the city, and many people have their favorites. This one is mine. I've been going to New York Nails on Lower Brownsboro for years, even after I moved away from the neighborhood. It is entirely family run - mom, daughter, sons, daughters-in-law. I feel welcomed and comfortable every time I'm there, and they've got incredibly reasonable prices. My standard service is a pedicure, and they really take their time. You'll get a full trim, scrub, scrape, massage and paint if you need it. And, it's not on the menu of services, but I get my eyebrows done there, too. As long as I'm able to get back over to Clifton, New York Nails will be my go-to nail salon. read more
