I've purchased multiple vehicles from Newbold and as expected the service was exceptional and their pricing was so much more than fair. I like knowing I can count on the dealer to be there if I need them and the Newbold staff is always quick to respond and offer help. My salesperson was terrific and their finance manager was so professional. Buying a car can be stressful but when I work with this dealer I don't feel intimidated. I made an appointment online to test drive a vehicle at 5 pm. They assured me they had a vehicle in stock. I showed up on time to 4 salesmen leaning on the counter. After waiting a few minutes without being helped a man came over and I told him I had an appointment at 5 to test drive a Tacoma. He informed me he didn't have any to test drive. I told him I confirmed online they had one and made an appointment. He told me he had none in stock and 13 coming but they we all sold. I told him that was fine I'd like to order one. No response. Then he told me the 2019 next to us was not sold but couldn't be test driven. I was given no reason. I was offered no apology for my appointment being canceled or the information being incorrect. The salesmen seemed completely disinterested in helping me at all and went back to leaning on the counter. I got off work early and made a special trip specifically for the test drive. This is my second time coming in a month and both times the salesmen have little to no interest in helping in any way. I have good credit, ready to put a deposit, and know exactly what I want. I would have bought a vehicle today and likely been a return customer as my wife wants a 4Runner. I'll be going elsewhere to purchase a vehicle. I couldn't recommend this place any less. read more

When purchasing my vehicle the service was great and I love my car. Now the promises, after the purchase, you may need to get written in your contract or a promissory note. I was given only 1 key to my vehicle because they could not locate the 2nd key, the key was damaged and aged so the rep promised me he would get me a 2nd key. 10 mos later, key has broken twice since purchase, contacted rep twice, was told I will still get a 2nd key. Current day, my vehicle won't operate, the key has broken away from the key fob and now being told that the rep never told me he would get another key, "it wasn't written in your contract and we are not a GMC dealer." I have a GMC car, but, they sold me the car. They are unable to get me another key. read more

Oh my goodness I'm so irritated with them. Twice I have called for services and they have told me someone would call me back well this time no one called me back and now I can't get my car detailed in the time I need it to be. There are about 10 places that will detailed for $65-120 and they are asking $180. In general they have pretty crappy customer service, but we are having company visit and I wanted my car nice for them as my toddler makes it pretty messy! I'm not paying them this ridiculous amount just because they screwed me over by not calling me back!! Please get fix your customer service issues and your awful prices! read more

I purchased a 2014 Camry. Absolutely love the car. During the sale I was told I get a years free oil changes. When the first oils change came due I sent the car for its first appointment with my daughter. When she returned with the car it had a sticker for mileage of 10,000 miles next oil change. ( my car requires oil change every 5,000 miles. They had told my daughter that the light will come on at 5000 miles. But it would be fine to stay on until the next oil change is due at 10,000 miles. Another 5,000 miles goes by my maintenance requirement light comes on. I call to make an appointment. Show up for the appointment and was told my car wasn't due for an oil change?? That the light was on for a tire rotation & needs an alignment?But if I wanted to waist my 2nd out of three coupons for an oil change they would still do the oil change. After a lengthy conversation with the service department long story short. I left with out getting an oil change. Took the car to a local garage and had my oil change. Tires didn't need rotated nor was it ready for alignment... The promotional 1 yr free oil change is a joke!!!! Why don't they just offer you 3 free oil changes & be done!! Instead of the 1 yr free oil changes that boils down too 30,000 miles every other oil change.. very dissatisfied with the service department at This location! I will not return.. read more

Ok, I bought a used car there about a month ago and was told that it should pass inspection even though Illinois doesn't require inspections for safety and emissions. I live in Missouri. So yesterday, I took it to get it inspected and was told it failed and would need 2 new tires, rear brake pads and rotors totaling over $600. I was not happy so I called Newbold and talked to a Mike Rogers whose job is to make sure their buying experience is good. He told told me there is nothing he can do because the car was sold "as is" and that is why we got such a great deal. (which is not really true). Smart companies make some effort to resolve these types of problems so that customers will spread the word and come back for a second purchase. Short-sided, dealers like Newbold are only in it for the quick buck and don't seem to mind the bad PR from unhappy customers, so my advice for anyone wanting to buy a Toyota or any other car is to stay clear of this outfit at all costs! Not one of my favorite Toyota dealerships given other places around the country I have lived. I had a 9:30 AM appointment for an oil change and fog light replacement and my car was not ready until 12:30 PM. I was told there were too many other cars that showed up without appointments which I don't understand why would be my problem considering I did have an appointment. He did compensate me with a free oil change although I did have a discounted email coupon from the dealership. The fog light was $20 more expensive than what I was quoted when it was ordered but they did discount it to what I was quoted. I had to ask for my copy of the multipoint inspection of the vehicle which recommended a transmission fluid service due to it being a poor condition/contaminated/discolored. Other dealerships will typically talk to you before you pay your bill regarding any recommendations. They do offer a complimentary car wash which was nice considering a recent return trip from afar. I expect better service especially compared to other dealerships I have visited. read more

I took my Lexus here only because I was in the area from out of town and there wasn't a Lexus dealer nearby. I figured, Toyota/Lexus are the same family, and the person on the phone confirmed they serviced Lexus, so I made an appointment. Not sure why they bother scheduling appointments, since, as other reviewers have already mentioned, your appointment time means nothing. My appointment was at 1:00 and I didn't even get to hand off my keys until 1:30 because there were two people waiting in line ahead of me, and the single person working the desk was so slow. When it was finally my turn, he informed me that they charged $130 (!) just to look at the vehicle. I felt like I didn't have much of a choice, being away from home and having these warning lights come on in the vehicle, so I agreed. After sitting in the waiting room for an hour, I went back in to check on the progress. They hadn't even taken my car in yet! So I sat and wasted some more of my afternoon. I probably ended up being there nearly two hours when he finally came out to let me know they found the problem. My vehicle allegedly had some "oil control valve" issue which they found by searching the error codes, but they couldn't fix it since it was a Lexus; I had to go to a Lexus dealer. Why they didn't tell me this from the get-go is beyond me. Oh wait, no it's not--they didn't tell me up front because they wanted to squeeze $130 out of me for nothing. As I stood there waiting to pay, I had to listen to this incredibly unprofessional guy at the counter ramble on and on to me about politics, the President and his opinions on both. I didn't care and this just made me more furious. Talk about unprofessional! The best part? I got home to Chicago and took the vehicle to the Lexus dealer and explained what I was told at Newbold. They assured me that my vehicle has no oil control valve problem and there was nothing to be fixed. And guess what--they didn't charge me $130 to tell me that. This place is a total sham. I have had the truck for almost a year, and it has been a year full of problems with the truck. I have had to get a new brake system, a new alternator, a new transmission, and other various issues. All over the span of a year. My mechanic said half of the issues I've had with my truck should have been caught by the companies mechanics. I love my truck that's why I've had everything fixed. Made an appointment. However, when I arrived there was no information about my scheduled appointment. I was glad they honored my appointment. The issue involved a coupon (obtained from the Newbold Toyota website) I had for a $39.95 oil change. The guy at the desk stated the oil change would cost $39.95. You're kidding, right? I asked him what is the purpose of using a coupon when the regular oil change price is the same $39.95? He admitted it was misleading but that did not change anything. I still paid $39.95 for the oil change. Another guy behind the desk interjected that all Toyota dealerships have the same practice of listing their actual prices in the form of a coupon--That was flat out a lie. This was a cut out Coupon for the oil change service. I also told the desk jockey I spoke with a chat rep before coming in and ask him to direct me to where the coupons are located for maintenance services. Their rep was the one that gave me the link to the coupons as I learned when I went in they are not actually coupons. My question is where are the real coupons? What a Sham! Newbold Toyota I suggest you go to Bethesda, Maryland and see how Jim Coleman Toyota runs their operation. Newbold Toyota you have a lot to learn. You think your customers are stupid. Ok I am updating my review, Christopher (service Manager) is seriously the epitome of customer service. When leaving there previously I was angry and had been made to feel like a stupid girl. Christopher changed that with his caring attitude and he actually made me feel validated and not stupid. I am thankful I went back in and spoke with him. Yes they are going to take care of me, and my concerns, but more importantly I feel like I mattered to Newbold, that what I felt when walking out of there really actually was a concern of his. Lance Tulacro is what made my experience with Newbold BMW a fantastic one. It's not just a transaction with him, but the beginning of a relationship. He is straightforward with the intention of making a fair deal, but also took the time to get to know me and tell me about himself. Then he goes the extra mile. I live in Chicago so the entire negotiation/sales process was over the phone. His communication was flawless... always emailing or calling me to keep me updated, taking great care that my car was detailed to perfection when I received it, made sure the paperwork process was as easy as possible and sent photos when the car was out of 'detailing'. He even came in on his day off to make sure everything was in order before the car got loaded onto the trailer to come to Chicago. He called me the morning of delivery and of course my car arrived glistening. It's rare to find a "car salesman" with the integrity, thoroughness and personability Lance has. If I accept the appointment you offer to me, you should respect my time and keep that appointment. I don't think Toyota understands everyone's time is important. My sister was quoted $59. for Oil Change. When her car was delivered She was shown the bill--$65!! When She asked why her bill was $65 and not $59 She was told that "maybe your car used more oil". Service dept. is terrible. Slow, slow, slow. Should a place really need your car for 2-4 hours to rotate the tires?? NO. And, they're supposed to wash it for you when they're done too...turns out they forget half the time and when you show up they make you wait again. Or..."just drop it by sometime this week" -- Newsflash...if you washed it when you had it, I wouldn't have to make a separate trip! Are you going to pay me for the gas to bring it back?? Wish I had an alternative, but when you're the monopoly provider, I guess you can get away with crappy service. We've had several interactions with them and it never gets better. Can't wait until we're done with the included services...will definitely be taking it elsewhere for service. read more

I will never again go to this dealership. Have had my Prius in twice in past week. Both times they failed to do everything I asked them to do. Then today I called their Parts Department to obtain a part number for a rear bumper that I wanted to replace through a source other than the dealer. They would not give it to me. Even spoke with manager! Nada! A year ago they tried to sell me a "switch" for my RAV4. Turns out I only needed a new battery for my FOB key. Would have cost me several hundred dollars Stay away! far far away! I am going to spread the word with everyone I know at the local Air Force Base. And I know lots of people! read more

Car dealerships are never fun but this one is definitely the worst. Salespersons not experienced. They don't know the rules and restrictions on selling a certified vehicle. Service department always closed the day after a holiday. They acted like we should know this already. The showroom and especially rest rooms are dirty. One star because someone spoke to me. We have bought 4 cars from Newbold and I have been treated so unprofessionally for the last time. Today, I asked for a Camry 2018 brochure. They were out. I asked how could I get one. He told me it's all online. I said I wanted to sit and look at a brochure. He said, "There is a car right over there", pointed to a model I know I don't want, and then he walked away. No one else spoke to me. That guy just lost a $30k sale by not listening to me. I took my truck in for routine maintenance (oil change and tire rotation ). I was there for 35 minutes!!! It was so fast I didn't finish my coffee. Wonderful service department and Chad was helpful. A few years ago I had an issue with one of my vehicles. I drove up to the dealership and Chad had recommended I ride with him as he drove my truck to explain the problem. Walked into the dealer on a Saturday morning with my family of three with the intent on getting information on a family vehicle. Was very interested in the Highlander. Merely wanted someone to show us around one of the vehicles and perhaps go for a test drive. Instead it took several minutes for someone to come speak with us. I said I was currently driving a compact car that did not comfortably fit my infant. I told the older gentleman that I was interested in the Highlander and he said he didn't have many left on the lot. When my boyfriend asked if we could view one and perhaps Drive one I have NEVER seen a car salesman so uninterested in selling a car. Perhaps he incorrectly assumed I couldn't afford a new car or that I wasn't serious. However I felt his attitude was so rude and unprofessional we said forget it and walked away with zero information about the model. The only information I got is that Newbold Toyota didn't want my business or my money. I won't be returning. read more

We are almost three time return customers to Newbold. The first and second experiences were without incident, nothing outstanding but good customer service. However, we tried to work with them a few months ago and I left the dealership feeling insulted. I had worked online on and off throughout the day with the salesman about the car in which we were interested. I let him know we would be at the dealership at a certain time that evening to test drive the car. When we arrived we were passed off to the new guy on the block who didn't appear to know what he was doing. He asked what we wanted and I explained what we were looking for so he took the price quote over to the business manager only to come back with the same deal with the numbers subtracted from a different category on the invoice. At that point my husband and I walked out. That move caught the attention of the initial salesman who tracked us down and told us to come back in, we'll get you where you need to be. Needless to say we will take our business to a dealership that knows how take care of customers. Unfortunately, we have an extended warranty so we will have to use their service department but buying another car from them is not in our future. read more

Do NOT buy a used car from this place. If a salesman named Dan G tries to help you - ask for someone else. I purchased a used vehicle here from Dan. 1st off, the driver's visor was busted. I asked about it during the test drive and he assured me it would be fixed by the time I came back to purchase. It was not. Not only was it NOT done, I had to argue to get it fixed! Dan acted like he never said that. I had someone with me during the test drive who also heard him promise it would be fixed. Finally, it was fixed. I'd had the vehicle less than a month and the battery was dead. Contacted the manager again - who did take care of it and gave me a new battery. Barely another month later (had it for 2 months at this point) and the water pump blew!!!! $850 later and the mechanic (NOT Newbold cause at this point I just don't trust them) tells me it had all original radiator hoses, that should have been replaced previously. I've even had to replace the back window wiper. They could have AT LEAST done that! These people do as little as they have to, just for looks. They lie to your face. The vehicles aren't even checked, before they re-sale them, apparently! Don't waste your time or money with these people. read more

Today marks the last attempt at trying to have a good relationship with this dealership. After scheduling a service appointment, i accepted the shuttle service that was offered to me. I was even told that a note was made on the appointment that we would need to utilize the shuttle. Unfortunately when my husband showed up, he was told by Chris in the service dept that no shuttle service was available, and we should have (somehow??) known this. My husband left and came home. I called back and spoke with Chris who told me that Newbold has had ongoing problems with their call center but he had " no control" over it( and OBVIOUSLY could have cared less.) I told him I would call back and talk to the manager on Monday and his reply was "Fantastic!" Hey, I'm the customer (and I was very calm) and I don't appreciate sarcasm and rudeness. Unfortunately this is not our first issue with Newbold (missing lug nuts on a tire rotation that was caught by another motorist to name one dangerous incident), but it will be our last. Our advice? Take your business to another dealership that knows what good customer service actually is. read more

I called Newbold to inquire if they had time today to rotate my tires. I was transferred three times to an Indian Call Center. The foreigner I talked with didn't understand English and didn't speak English very well. I ended up driving to the dealership. I've experienced talking to India before when calling Newbold for service. The Indians read down a list and expect you to say yes when they get to the items you want serviced. Not smart enough to understand "rotate tires". India never gets your service request correct. I've purchased four Toyotas and plan on buying another this year. Newbold thinks they are the only game in town. I've bought all four of my Toyotas in St. Louis and saved $1500 or more each time. read more

Will never buy from these people again!! my 2015 certified Toyota Avalon which I have not had even a month has been in the shop at least six times for the same problems with wheels.. was told I had practically brand new tires on the car .. when i purchased they had 55,000 miles on them with new tires put on at 44,000 miles.. Within THREE days of purchasing this vehicle that passed 160 point inspection, So far I have had to purchase a 250.00 brand new tire (three days after purchasing the car) because of the tire supposedly being worn down in a weird way (according to Jeanine) . the balance WAS out when they checked it .. when I kept complaining the car was not driving right it drove with a wobble or unevenness and my steering wheel shook.. they asked for the car to drive after I spoke with the manager and they took the car back to the dealer and drove it without looking at it.. Cameron my salesman seen himself a shaky wheel.. I was told by Chris newbold that there was nothing prolly really that bad with the car wheels so there was nothing hands on done with the car .. so I took it to another Toyota dealer to be checked.. so I have found out that the left front wheel was off balance by .50 oz (and this was the SAME tire they had originally supposedly balanced when I was informed of my worn out in a weird way tire) and the right front wheel off by .25 oz and the right rear wheel was Bent!! with a big dent in the rim! According to the man who worked on the tire to fix it said that this was something I had not done myself because they could tell it had been there for a while and I had only had the car for less than a month and considering I hadn't been doing any curb jumping!!! As a matter of fact they were surprised it hadn't cracked .. my boyfriend was watching as the mechanic spun the wheel with his hand and he could see the wheel was severely bent! Thank you Newbold for the lost hours of work and headaches from taking my car back and forth to your dealership to constantly be told there was nothing wrong with my tires/wheels!!! I am going to safely assume my car was not physically looked at cause they were already aware of the bad wheel and sold me the car anyway! read more

Absolutely, the worst customer service of any dealer I have experienced since buying my first car more than 35 years ago. I bought a new pickup from the dealership several years ago and did not have a good experience then, but I bought anyway thinking they just had a bad day. Today I went in specifically to buy another new truck. I see that my first impression was correct. The sales manager and staff definitely are not customer oriented. They lost a repeat sale as well as any future sales from me. If you're looking for a good customer experience, look elsewhere. read more

I bought a Camry from this dealership 18 months ago, and have had it serviced there every 5000 miles. would I do it again? NOT!!! I will never take my car there for service again, and I will never buy another car from this dealership. They promise you one thing, then don't give it to you and come up with all kinds of excuses why I misunderestood what they promised... Case in point, they promised me a FREE OIL CHANGE every 10,000 miles for 2 years! Its been 18 months and they wanted to make me pay $69 for this oil change because I was only supposed to get 2 oil changes in a 24 month period! What? I am only to get 1 oil change every 12 months? That's not right. I turned them down, took it to Valvoline and got it changed for half that cost. So for being greedy and sticking to their "Only 2 oil changes rule in a 24 month period" and not trying to deal with me and saying your right, (Customer is always right rule) and we will foot the bill on this oil change they have lost a good customer! WHat would it have really cost then to give me the promised oil change? It will cost them more now in a lost customer! I will drive to Missouri and do business with the Papas Toyota dealership before I will ever step foot at this dealership again! I work just 3 miles from Papas Toyota, thats why I put so many miles on this car and need more that 1 oil change a year..... They also lied to me about the loan percentage rate, then told me I misunderstood them, and refused to negociate it also. And I also hate the "Appointment system" to get service work, it takes forever to get in, thats them forever to work on your car, I strongly recommend NOT dealing with this dealership ever.... We have been taking our Toyota Sienna van their since we bought it. We didn't buy it at Newbold; however, the service guys have always been super friendly and provided us great service. I don't think the appointments are a sham because we have never had to wait for them to take the van to shop area. We will continue taking the van there to get serviced. read more

Newbold Toyota has one of the best service teams that I have had the pleasure of working with. I purchased one Rav4 in 2014 from Newbold and another in early 2015. I brought my 2011 to them today for an oil change. Andrew was the Service Advisor. He was very polite, enjoyable to talk with, gave great attention to detail, and kept me up to date on the status of my car. I had one more free oil change, but they also topped off fluids and washed the car! These people, from the sales team to the service team, are top notch!
