I'm love with Newk's, the Newk's Q sandwich and pizza are a must try! They also have my favorite Caesar salad to date.

They're "Alright quick eats",... and then their is "Newks", with a capital N !! That is because in this relatively small and disgraceful city of early closers and "French cheapnest of creole style" obsessions... the only "Gray area", that can be filled - has indeed been filled by Newks eatery !! If, your looking for a pretty good (wholesome - but not boring alternative to let's say Ihop or What a burger ) , for on the go early morning or late night family meal to say the least. Positive traits include: + Clean ... presentable atmosphere - always roomy and welcoming. + Better than good food options - that would suit even the most demanding customer. (Always something new and positively better for those that are health consicous). (Generous portion sizes too). + Responsible and friendly employees willing to get it right the first time (no excuses attitude). Affirmative and Energetic individuals who seem to geniunely care about the servive they provide... Yes, young - but not dumb, lazy or immature as plenty of other locations in town (S.O.L) etc. + Pretty Quick attention and food preperations for the on the go productive on the go indivdual ...without sacrificing quality. + They are open when the competition has already called it quites !! Sorry "Jasons deli", the competitive advantage goes to the premier "Newks". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** PLS. NOTE the only negative traits found would be a lack of balance when preparing salads on the carry outs... that is the cook tends to be heavy handed on the dressing (aka sauces etc.) Also, lets try to focus on more healthy beverage options... which naturally come with a higher price to be paid - but well worth it. ** The desert offering is ok... but considering the market niche being filled here ---- thet could be better in the taste catagory. TO SUM IT UP I WOULD ALMOST RATE IT A SOLID FIVE STARS IN ITS CURRENT RANKING - SEPT THEY IMPROVED THE PREV. DISCLOSURE ABOVE. My husband and I decided to try out the new Newk's in Towne Center at the recommendation of a friend that used to live in Shreveport. She said this place is like a Jason's Deli, only way better. On Friday, 4/17/15; we checked it out. When we walked in we reviewed the menu for a quick second before we moved up the check-out counter. I greeted the cashier because she didn't greet us when we walked in or when we walked up to her register. I always say the same "hey, how are you?". She says fine and stares at us awaiting our order. Ok... not exactly a warm welcome but whatever. We order, I take our cups over to the drink station. As I approach, an employee in uniform hops in front of me to get her refill. What?! There wasn't a line of people approaching, just me. Very discourteous. After I got my drinks, we sat down. I noticed 5 unbussed and dirty tables in our general vicinity. I couldn't see the other half of the restaurant but assume it would have been in the same condition. I looked around to see if maybe a bus boy was working on the situation. I didn't see a busser, which I would have identified by a bus tub or tray or something. But, I did see 3 different clumps of employees standing around and chatting. Up at the front by the cashiers there was a group. In the kitchen there was a group and by the drink fountain there was a group. You may be wondering where their manager was at this point... he was up at the cashier counter. Then the food came out. Sadly this was also a disappointment. My husband ordered the Newk's Q and I got the Italian. My Italian sandwich was not good. My sandwich only had onion on half of it, which is weird, right? Even Jimmy John's would have been a better experience. With poor service and mediocre food, we won't be back. read more

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. Read some of the reviews that indicated quality dropping but decided to see for ourselves. My wife ordered a half sandwich and half soup and I ordered a half salad and half soup. The portions are good for the price which is the positive. The service was friendly and polite as well. However, the quality of the food has dropped since our last visit unfortunately. The temperature on the soup was lukewarm despite seeing it served from the soup warmer that was steaming heavily. The lobster and crab bisque had decent flavor despite not having any crab or lobster meat as advertised. Also, no discernable sherry flavor either. It could have been a thick shrimp broth and tasted similar. The kale ceasar salad very little Parmesean cheese and was literally chopped kale tossed in a bowl without anything done to it. Slightly wilted or 'massaged' kale would have improved the salad tremendously. The potato soup was not very creamy and no actual potato to be found which is important to tell if it was made from potato flakes or whole potatoes which changes the flavor and texture. The best thing was the roast beef sandwich which was more flavorful and cooked properly for roast beef. The only negative was too much mustard which overpowered the sandwich but that is a personal preference issue. Newk's Eatery is headed in the wrong direction and focus needs to be put on improving food quality and taste. read more

There are many salads on the menu, but unfortunately when I ordered they were out of all except 2.... I got the simply salad. It was fine, but a little too simple for my taste. I had wanted the Greek. The main flaw however, was the soup. I ordered chicken tortilla soup. There were a FEW MICROSCOPIC SHREDS... I asked the waitress about it and she agreed that she had also been surprised by the lack of chicken when she had her first chicken tortilla soup there. She graciously offered to bring me the chili.... not much difference. The only star I give is for the gracious waitress. read more

I had the chilli and mac and cheese. Both were OK but nothing special--basically the epitome of "nothing to write home about" as far as the food goes with the exception of the roasted garlic on the condiment bar which was perfectly cooked, delicious and FREE!! The chili was OK, it had the same taste as Wendy's chili but was not as meaty, thick or hearty. The mac and cheese tasted like Stouffer's which is again not bad but neither were worth the premium price. They take your order at the register and then you go sit somewhere and a runner will bring the food out and presumably clear the table when you leave. It was pleasantly decorated, and the register girl and the food runner were both sweet--but again the food was nothing special enough to make me want to go back enough to make a special trip to eat there, but if I were already there, hungry and couldn't go to another place I like better, I might eat there again. It suffers from location problems--there are a lot of other places in the area that are priced about the same but better food. I didn't dislike it but it wasn't special enough to make me love it. It had weird combinations on the sandwiches and pizzas that might be good but the menu descriptions weren't very enticing. A better menu would help them immensely and having recognizable dishes other than chili and mac and cheese would be a big plus. read more

Not bad, reminded me of a cross between Jason's deli and Panera bread. Food was good and atmosphere was nice.

Do not get the deluxe pizza. I looove pizza and this was probably the worst pizza I have ever had. I know this sounds weird but the toppings were huge. Whole olives, giant pieces of mushroom, bell pepper and artichoke all piled up on top of each other in the middle of the pizza. Wish I would've taken a picture. Middle of pizza was not cooked. Very difficult to eat and not worth the trouble or the 10 bucks. Husband's mac-n-cheese was burned and the place was dirty. Couldn't find a clean table. Sorry newks but not a pleasant experience. read more

The grab and go sandwiches are horrible. Cold bread, barely any lettuce or tomato and what's there seems old. A sandwich from a convience store is likely better. Eating in may be fine, getting a grab and go salad is probably fine, but don't waste your money on a grab and go sandwich here. Yucky yuck. read more

Ordered online for a Cobb salad add avocado to go. I've had much better & will probably not order again. Salad greens starting to turn brown, avocado was brown, no bacon at all & no green onions. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. My daughter and I went for a late lunch. Ordered at the counter, we each ordered a salad, then got our drinks and found a table outside. A few people came in after we did, and got their food. We'd been there about 15 minutes and I went inside to check on our order and was told it would be right out. After about 5 minutes, my daughter went in to check and she was told it would be right out. Lunch finally came, but it wasn't our order, but the server said he would get it right out. After waiting 5 more minutes I went in and talked to the manager. He looked for our order and said he would bring it right out. Another employee told me the order must have gotten lost and yet another employee said she remembered making the salads. The manager made it right for us, but there is a problem with the staff. They were just giving us lip service and really don't seem to care about how they do their job. Next time in town I will give it another try as the food was good. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called and asked "if the items that come in the triple take salad were offered as sides because I didn't want the salad but I like the items in the salad" the girl on the phone sighed and got an attitude instantly. She said "they are three ounces so no they only come in the salad". I said "do you offer them in a side that is not the three ounces?" She signed again and said "you know what ma'am I am going to put you on hold" came back on the phone and said okay our sides are $ (I don't remember exact price she said)." So I said, "ok well do you offer tuna as a side?". She instantly got an even bigger attitude and said "I just listed the sides and prices for you. What are we doing? Are you order the triple take or not?" I said no I was just calling to find out about possible side items you offer to order and that is it." I was so angry with her attitude at this point I know I would never order from here again. I told her "okay that is it, thank you" and then she just hung up on me. I was NEVER RUDE TO HER. Unless you like being treated like dirt, I don't suggest you eat here. Horrible customer services. I am furious because I had my heart set on their food. Never again will I even attempt to give my money to a place that treated me with the biggest attitude instantly. read more
