For the first time, today I went to Firehouse Subs. I had Club on a Sub. Smoked turkey, Virginia honey ham, bacon & Monterey Jack & all the trimming.in wheat bread. And OMG it was so delicious, bye bye subway. The employee was so nice and friendly. My new sub place.

This was my first time trying Firehouse Subs. After hearing so many great things about the restaurant, I was disappointed. The service was so incredibly slow that the process of getting a salad took about 20 minutes. The workers were not kind or courteous. The atmosphere was not inviting. My salad was a disappointment. It looks pretty in the photo but for nearly $10 it left much to be desired. The veggies were almost frozen-like. I even had to go back up to the counter to get a fork and napkins.

So good oh so very, very good!! Haven't been to firehouse subs in a long time. Really need one in Walker (hint hint) I've really missed this place. Not only are you supporting firemen and women but these sandwiches are the best. Subway who? Plus we always get their 5 gallon buckets which also go towards fire station equipment. Highly recommend firehouse subs over any other around here.

I've been asking friends and family about firehouse subs and I've heard mix reviews. So I've been putting off going. Well, I went today and I wish I wouldn't have waited! The restaurant is is VERY clean, roomie, clean. The decor is of different type of fire equipment. The restaurant even gives children little red fire hats. I only had interaction with one of the employees, I believe she was the manager because she was dressed different from the other employees. Anyway, she was very helpful, fast and a very nice person. She answered all questions. The food was AWESOME!!! I had the firehouse hero. The firehouse hero had roast beef, smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted provolone on it. It was the BEST sub I've ever had!!! I definitely will be going back!!!

Now they are in a much better, but still cozy, space on Government Street. This facility has indoor dining space, patio dining space, and plenty of parking, including a back overflow lot. Anthony's has been in business so long due to authentic Italian cuisine, including a great variety of take out deli items. If you need some real Italian grocery items for your home, there's a good chance you can get them at Anthony's. However, if you would rather let them prepare your meal for you, that's an excellent option as well. I think they have a first rate muffuletta, and it's important to have the right bread and meats for those. This is something they have covered! Their Po-Boys are also my favorites. These are pressed so they are crispy and flattened. I typically like to get these with a small salad, which is indeed an excellent choice. If you have room, there's always some great dessert choices. Another consideration is picking up something to take home for later, I think a tub of high quality imported olives are a good selection. Don't forget their cheeses as well, these can lift your home cooking to a higher level. Next time you are in the Government Street Arts and Entertainment District, drop into Anthony's for a bite, dessert, or take home items. You'll definitely thank yourself later!

Instead, the lettuce was literally COOKED like steaming hot and there was melty mozzarella cheese inside, which is odd because Caesar salads don't typically include mozzarella - just Parmesan. The tortilla didn't taste fresh, and i think they just took the whole wrap and pressed it flat in a panini press. The heat made the lettuce completely wilted, and this was the most disappointing chicken Caesar wrap I've ever experienced. There was also not enough chicken or fillings inside like overall it was a very small wrap for the price. The quality of their shredded chicken is great, but everything else was extremely subpar. After receiving mine with the mozzarella (lactose intolerant), I even decided to bite the bullet and order a second one (so I paid for two) and this time specified no cheese at all, and extra chicken. The second one STILL had cheese, and the same amount of chicken. The sweet potato fries were fine, and the build your own sandwich my boyfriend got was good. just don't do the wrap from here yall. The bagel itself was good but VERY salty, it came on a everything bagel with boursin cream cheese, spinach and capers. I usually ask for a plain bagel whenever I get a bagel with smoked salmon but wanted to try something different. I have a feeling that this would have made a difference. I ended up deconstructing and only eating the salmon, cream cheese, spinach and capers on one half of the bagel, this made it a tad bit less saltier.
