Each time I go I try something new. Like other reviewers have said the place is spacious, clean and almost always a place to sit. I found it a bit odd that the self serve drink dispesnser is at the back of the restaurant, everyone one I've been into is setup this way. I always like to get some sort of italian salami type sub with provolone cheese. The sandwhiches are always filling and I never need to get the full length ones, the half size is good enough for me and I'm a big guy too. I've had the pastrami and the corned beef hot subs, both I can highly recommend. Each location has a fine selection of hot sauces as well. I'd like to see this place employ more people from the firefighting community to be a regular part of their restaurant experience to keep it original and not just capitalizing on the whole idea of firefighters starting a restaurant. Nonetheless it's another fresh take on a common theme of two pieces of bread and what you can put between them and present in a welcoming / fun environment in which to consume it all at a price you can live with. read more

Wow...how fast the quality went down on the steak and cheese melt subs. Ordered a couple of these sandwiches as a pickup order and customized them by adding lettuce and mushrooms. Big hunks of bell peppers were thrown on there, lettuce was on one side of the sandwich only, very few onions could be seen or tasted, the meat looked like it was cut back drastically and I counted four mushrooms altogether! It looked like these were just thrown together at the last minute. I mean, I get it, you were getting close to closing time and were probably tired but geesh! This was my first time trying Firehouse Subs. After hearing so many great things about the restaurant, I was disappointed. The service was so incredibly slow that the process of getting a salad took about 20 minutes. The workers were not kind or courteous. The atmosphere was not inviting. My salad was a disappointment. I didn't expect much with a sandwich place, but it did not disappoint! I got the oven roasted Turkey and it was so good! One thing I did not like was that the bread was kind of soggy at the ends because of the Mayo. My friends got the Italian sub and the firehouse meatball sub. The medium size was perfect! I've been asking friends and family about firehouse subs and I've heard mix reviews. So I've been putting off going. Well, I went today and I wish I wouldn't have waited! The restaurant is is VERY clean, roomie, clean. The decor is of different type of fire equipment. The restaurant even gives children little red fire hats. I only had interaction with one of the employees, I believe she was the manager because she was dressed different from the other employees. Anyway, she was very helpful, fast and a very nice person. She answered all questions. The food was AWESOME!!! I had the firehouse hero. The firehouse hero had roast beef, smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted provolone on it. This was once my favorite go-to place in Baton Rouge for a health and delicious meal. I loved the salads!! The delicious meats here easily made this the best place to go for subs & salads. I was a regular and spoke with the manager on most visits, just to compliment the food and staff. However, the last 3 times I bought salads here, they got progressively worst. The lettuce was withered and/or rotten. I let it pass the first time, as a small amount was withered/browning. Thought It was just an off day. The next time, a bit worst but it was night and I thought perhaps it was just nearing the end of the day, etc. But my third and last visit was just too much. Not even that it was the third time (which was bad enough), but even more the entire salad was inedible! The entire bed of lettuce was brown, withered, no good, and should not have been served to anyone. Unfortunately I got it to go and didn't see the salad until I arrived home. I called the store and was hung up on after asking for a manager, I assumed it was an accident. I called back, spoke to a male employee who stated no manager was there. I left a message with him, asking that he have his manager call me back. I'm still waiting... it's been a couple of months. Again, I was fond of the manager here, and the food, so I've put off writing this review in hopes that I'd one day get a call so that this could be discussed privately. But, no such luck. They have lost a very loyal customer. And if this is how salads have been served regularly, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Sadly, I'd not recommend this location to anyone, and it pains me to say it. My co-worker and I have been walking past this building waiting for it to open for some time now. Today we noticed people inside and they had a letter on the door stating they were training. The owner noticed us looking and asked if we would like to come in and allow his worker to get some training with lunch was on him. UM YEA WE DO!! So we came in and placed our order and the place looked like it was up and running smoothly. The restaurant seemed to be very well organized and clean as well. Also, I do realize this is the first day but WOW these people are so nice! I would have to say Customer Service was an A+. Now for the food. It's been 3 years since my last bad review at this location, I normally only rate restaurants for being really good or really bad. After 3 years, this location is worse. It takes 15 min to get your sandwich after ordering and it's poorly put together, and sometimes cold. There's a a lot of hootin and hollering behind the counter, they're more interested in having fun that getting a quality sandwich out. It's a shame because I really like Firehouse subs and this one is close to my house but I'm done here. This owner does not care about his location. I placed a to-go order in-store for three sandwiches. My first visit was great. Cashier was helpful in describing toppings and taking my order. The staff was friendly and very generous with toppings. Just went here for lunch with my parents! We got the meatball sub and hero sub and both were great tasting and freshly made. The large meatball was more than enough to feed my mom and I (we still have half left). Also, the cashier was friendly and when the guy brought us our subs I made a comment how we were splitting and he offers to bring us another basket and even included forks and knives to cut the sub. I really wanted to like this place bc it was only a few min from my house. But the bread of my Togo order of Steak and cheese and club on a sub were all soggy when I got home. I think they steam the bread but microwave the meat for their "hot sub". You can see them draining the juices of the sandwich meat on wax paper before putting it on the sandwich, if you stand to the side of the counter. This is the first time I can say that I was dissatisfied with Firehouse Subs. I have been eating and enjoying the New York Steamers, since my first visit to a Firehouse Subs Restaurant in Jacksonville in 1995. So, I was more than delighted when I noticed the Seigen Lane location; and one in Katy, Texas. They all have always lived up to a great reputation of good food, cleanliness, and fast friendly service. Well until this week: I came in Wednesday to the Seigen location and noticed that the men's bathroom was out of service; again today, the men's bathroom is still out of service and the ladies room was dirty. There was no ice in the drink machine and when I mentioned it the employee just showed me another place to get ice - ice hasn't been added to the machine that was out and I have finished eating. Now to my real reason to post: This is the first time that I have ever been dissatisfied with food at Firehouse Subs; the sandwich was cold, dry, and difficult to swallow. The Steamers have always been Hot and Juicy. I'm wondering if this location is under new management. I notice that the wonderful picture of the owner and family is still in place. It's good, just a little bit high priced for a sandwich. The bread was amazing, well actually it all was amazing, just a little too much sauce. They also have a Freestyle soda machine, which is always fun. The sides are limited, but the sandwich is supposed to be the star, anyways. The sandwich was pretty good but I found the customer service lacking. My husband and I each ordered a sandwich and sat down to wait for it to be made. When we got our food, we realized that they had messed up our order. They made my sandwich and with the toppings my husband ordered and vice versa. It took them awhile to grasp the concept when we explained it to them. And then instead of remaking our sandwiches, they just simply switched the toppings on the sandwiches and sloppily put them back together. It was disappointing. read more
