Be careful as there are two entrances to the place, one on the front facing the main road and one on the back facing Target. The one on the front is for eat in and the other for take out. Great place for lunch or to grab a casual bite! I'm a big fan of the Newk's Q 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. I've tried a few other sandwiches here that are also good but the Q is my favorite. The salads (Newk's favorite) are also very good. I've had pizza once and it is also very good. I really have no complaints here. As a relatively fast healthy food stop, this place is great. I come here often so today, after a quick debate with my child between Moes, Five Guys, Dickies, and Newks, Newks won because I wanted a salad. I was not disappointed. Although, because I have celiac and cannot have any of the soups, I asked for a half of a Newks Favorite salad, the cashier informed me that no halves of this salad was possible. But he offered to have half boxed up to go on the front end. Perfect. I took it home for later. My child had a kids pepperoni pizza. Looked good. The food is CONSISTENTLY good, fairly-priced, and fresh. I've had their sandwiches, pizzas, and salads, and enjoyed all of them. Service is quick and the waiting staff have been great each time. On the occasion that my order is not prepared correctly, they are quick to fix it. We actually really enjoyed the food here. I had a salad (Newk's favorite) and it was delicious. My only complaint is that there was way too much dressing. I will be sure to order it on the side next time. The cake display drew me in, and the banana cake was amazing: moist and flavorful. The caramel cake; however, was a huge letdown. This place is about as close to a Panera Bread as it comes here in the south. This was my first visit, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a soup and a sandwich, both of which were very good. I definitely recommend this place for lunch and/or a light dinner. read more

My wife and I have been fans of Newks ever since the first one opened while we were in Oxford, MS. A couple of years later, we moved to Jackson to continue our studies, and a Newks opens up across the street. Our last year of school we stayed in Hattiesburg intermittently, and fortunately enough, a Newks had just opened up there as well. Since then, it's taken quite a while for Newks to make it's way to the Coast. After the announcement of a Newks franchise opening in D'Iberville, we waited eagerly, still visiting the franchises in Hattiesburg and Mobile. Nothing else in the area could fill that void. Luckily, Newks seems to have arrived intact and as good as we remembered. We assumed there would be a crowd the first few nights, so we waited until tonight to check out the new location. The restaurant (if memory serves) is more or less a carbon copy of the original, and I don't believe the menu has changed at all either. Newks offers a wide variety of sandwiches, pizzas, and salads, not unlike other deli chains such as Mcallisters. We ordered at the counter, and took our seats, dodging the crowd of blue-shirted Best Buy employees. I, wearing a bright blue polo shirt myself, blended in quite nicely, much to the amusement of my wife. I ordered a Cobb salad and my wife the vegetarian club. The club was great, as usual. It mostly consists of portabello mushrooms marinated in a tangy sauce, with cheese (Gorgonzola, perhaps?) and pesto. It was delicious, and they were overly generous with the veggies. She ended up bringing half of it home. My Cobb Salad was excellent, although I'm not fond of the new red salad bowls. It feels more trendy than the plain black I'm used to. The Cobb is a huge salad, featuring tons of chicken, nuts, tomatoes, egg, bacon crumbles, and croutons piled onto lettuce and smothered with bleu cheese dressing. Extra croutons and other condiments are available from the bar, including my personal favorite, the roasted garlic. My salad was excellent, and more than big enough to constitute a meal. The chicken they use for their salads deserves particular mention; I don't know the true origin, but the chicken tastes like (and the texture resembles) a sliced rotisserie chicken, rather than the reconstituted deli meat that most restaurants put on their salads. A minor thing, but it makes all the difference in the world. Considering the lack of customers (we ate at 4 PM) and the number of employees, we did have to wait an unusually long time for our order. I can probably forgive them, because the staff was friendly and helpful, and, after all, they haven't even been open a week yet. My only other criticism, and this is mostly a matter of personal taste, is that my salad was absolutely smothered with dressing. We will go back, probably frequently, as long as the quality continues to equal what we have come to expect. Highly recommended. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. First off, the menu is on the wall so it makes it hard to see it if there are people standing in front of it. I ordered the Greek salad. It was a lot of lettuce, not much else except for red onions, grape tomatoes and calamata olives. I could have added chicken for an additional price but it seemed like a lot for what you get. In other words not a great value. My hubs got the Italian sandwich (good) and white bean chili, which was watery and not very flavorful. Servers were very nice, cashier not very helpful but friendly. This is my favorite lunch spot. Food is delicious and reasonably healthy... actually by Mississippi standards it's probably the healthiest place to eat. I love the sandwiches here and the salads. If you're from New York or California this is going to be more like what you're used to as far as sandwich shops go. read more

I am celiac and that means the only thing on your menu for me is a salad,( I use to love thee Italian sandwich which has become a no-no).Back to the salad, I ordered the honey mustard, they forgot the honey because the strong mustard almost took my breath away. But I had dressing, that I used. Mind you this was a take-out. The romaine was horrible mostly rib and outer uneatable pieces which covered the brown pieces underneath. Disclaimer: This is for the Gulfport location but there isn't a page up for that one. I had heard about this place from friends and family since it opened. Knowing that it was the people who opened/created McCallister's I figured it'd be as good if not better than the way it used to be. So a friend and I came here to eat lunch on a whim. Neither of us live on the coast any more and wanted something light. It's soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas that they offer. While some of their offerings sounded tasty I opted for a half sandwich/salad lunch. The options for the salads are either a house salad or a caesar if i'm not mistaken. They actually have other salads that sounded quite nice but they're closer to $8-9 for a salad. The salad was fresh but their balsamic vinaigrette was really lacking lots. It was practically a flavorless salad that left me wanting more. The sandwich i chose was a pesto chicken panini. It had goat cheese, pesto, lettuce and tomato I believe. The sandwich was tasty but then again, it'd be pretty hard to screw up that sandwich with the sum of the ingredients. Would I come back? Probably. Was it some of the best food I've had? Over rated. I have been to this place several times now and have ordered different items - to date the only item that comes close to being exceptable is the salads. Most all the meat sandwiches are dry. I always have the feeling when I get my food is that I've been cheated. They are over priced for what you get. The noise level in the restaurant is on par with logans steak house NOISY. Loud music and everyone has to talk extra loud to be heard. The Pepperjack Crawfish soup rocks!!! Paired with a half sandwich like the Newk's Q, and the experience is awesome!! But that soup...wow!

I met a woman with a negative IQ today. This girl argued with me about my order. I told her I wanted a half turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich with Miss Vickie's jalapeño chips. She said oh we don't have chips with half sandwiches. I said okay I'll have the Mac and cheese instead. She said okay just the Mac and cheese? I said no I want the sandwich AND the Mac and cheese. She said okay, also the sandwich comes with Swiss cheese. I said, well can you substitute cheddar. And she said so you want cheddar? I said yes? She rolled her eyes at me, I told her I wanted white bread. She said okay. So then the other people in my party ordered and that went fine. She then said as she was ringing up the order, oh by the way just for future reference we don't serve miss Vickie's, now we have newks brand. I was like okay, but I didn't order the chips. And she said oh! And then changed it. So we go get our drinks, and when our order finally comes, my bread is wheat, my cheese is Swiss, and my mac and cheese is cold.
