Affordable, quality food, friendly service, and clean atmosphere. I never heard of Newk's until Saturday until my wife and I happened upon a new one near my hometown in Maryland and loved it. Someone told me they are Mississippi-based. I looked them up and found this one a short drive from my hotel. Tonight I had a cup of the crab soup and the half salad/mac and cheese combo. The soup was delicious. The salad was fresh and the mac and cheese creamy and flavorful. I like that the portions are generous but not overwhelming. I don't know if/when I'll be back to the Biloxi area but will definitely make the Odenton, MD location a regular stop. read more

Food is average at best. However,....you only get one chance to make a first impression. The customer service at the counter was awful. If you are going to pay a good price for average food, it would be nice to say hello, welcome, hi or some greeting. The questions of food choices were in a rapid fire, and I barely had a chance to answer and reply and the cashier could not be more inconsiderate. When you ask for the amount (pay here 1st) would be nice to have a please, thank you or enjoy your meal - something! I teach communication skills, and the problem is not with the young lady, but the management. I've asked to see the Manager 3 times and after 45 minutes and it's 2 pm and slow - the mgr. Still has not come to address my concern. Time to go! Expect average food and horrible customer service. I left my business card and I will see how long before I get a reply. read more

First, I went to Waitr.com & tried to place a delivery order & it said it would be 2hrs, Wow @ 5:45pm, so I decided to drive to their place which by the online menu looked great. I ordered the Black & Blu salad & when it came I was so disappointed. I've never had an issue here before but last night for the first time, I got the Caesar salad. It was very gritty! It was so bad to the point where I could not keep eating it. I waited 15 minutes for the worst thin crust pizza I've ever paid for. Not to mention the house salad took longer to get to my table than the pepperoni pizza. I had to go up to the server and ask as to why the rest of my table already had their food and I had to wait so long for mine. Their response was, "We were just talking about why it was taking so long for your order." How about getting the salad to the customer first rather than making him wait so long? Not to imply prejudice but I was the only non-Caucasian costumer at my table. I surely will not return to this location or visit any other Newk's. Never again. Came for dinner and it was not busy, but most of the tables were dirty. Ordered a club. There was very little meat. Half a slice of Turkey and half a slice of ham. I could see the cheese but not taste it. The sandwich over all was very dry. All you could taste was the bread. The croutons had more flavor. I also got the italian wedding soup. It tasted like canned soup. Also there were only 5 small pieces of meatball in it. They were smaller then ice cubes. Heard good things about Newk's. Delicious "healthy" food options like salads and soups. The food is by no means low in calories or fat but it beats the standard fried food options that are plentiful in Mississippi. Great salads! Today I decided to visit Newks for the first time since they opened in the Promanade Mall location. Since I had read a previous review about a great Cobb salad and since that was what I was craving I settled on a Cobb and my partner settled on an Italian sandich and Brocolli soup. I had never been to a Newks before but since I'm a sandwich and salad lover and I used to frequent Newks sister stores McAlister's quite often. The Cobb salad I was expecting and the one I recieved were two totally different versions. First off the greens were wilted not fresh and crisp the croutons stale and soggy and the dressing didnt even taste like Blue cheese but more like Blue-Plate mayonnaise. I've actually had much better Blue cheese dressing at their sister store McAlister's. My salad looked and tasted like it had been pre made and stored in the refrigerator for a few days. My partner enjoyed her sandwich but said something about the broccolli that I didnt quite catch. If sandwiches and salads are your signature items then all I can say is they suck at salads! Note: we decided to sit on the patio and other than dropping off our meals we were never checked on at all. Will not return here, period! read more

This place is a nice restaraunt for sandwiches. I get the newks q and it's one of my favorite sandwiches to get here. The salads are also delicious. However, if you buy a salad as a side item get the dressing on the side, trust me. They put a lot of dressing on their salads which ends up turning to be a soup salad. The price runs around $7-$12. Stopped here for a quick lunch with the family and it was packed, which means a lot of people think highly of this place. I had the club sandwich and it was very good, my wife had the Mac and cheese, and she said it was 5 times better than McAllister's Mac and cheese and I consider these two places to be similar. Would have given a higher rating but the restaurant felt barely above freezing. My kids had to put on sweatshirts in June, and I was shaking it was so cold. Super cute cafe to grab a huge but affordable salad or thin crust pizza and drink for around $10. I got the Newks Salad that comes with mixed greens, sliced chicken, chopped pecans, dried cranberries, marinated artichoke hearts, blue cheese, croutons and sliced grapes! I loved how the sliced grapes gave the salad sweetness after I added balsamic vinaigrette instead of sherry vinaigrette. My sis got the barbecue chicken pizza which she loves but I thought it had too much BBQ sauce for my taste buds. I love all the extra add ons or vinegars and oils that you can add to your sandwich or pizza or salad like pickles, yellow peppers, grated Parmesan cheese, roasted garlic and croutons. Service was great. I was undecided about what soups I wanted so the front cashier let me try mini samples of all 3 I wanted to try. So of the white bean chicken soup, broccoli and cheddar, chicken tortilla. I chose chicken tortilla which came garnished with Sour Cream which I LOVE! 2 negatives I have are the free thin breadsticks are bland and I wished there prepackaged cold stuff came with price labels? I tried looking the usual places where you see price labels on top or on bottom to find it but was not successful. So after a long night of tromping around buying christmas gifts, braving the crowds of target and searching Marshalls for a perfect pair of jeans, I was starving and ready to get something to eat. I decided to give this place a try and once inside was impressed with the choices and intrigued by the pizza selections. Im VERY picky about pizza and thought maybe i shouldnt bother and just get a sandwich, but being that i like to live all dangerously, I decided to try the pizza and it was well rewarded!!! The crust is absolutely one of the best crusts ive tasted in awhile. Very thin but very crispy and fresh! I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and the pilings of REAL chicken were generous and the cheese was sooo good! Seeing as how they use gouda at newks, im definitely getting the 4 cheese pizza next time. Now they only serve "personal" pizzas..i believe it was 7 or 8 inches, but for one person it was perfect and only 7 bucks! The prices on all the food were extremely reasonable. And i definitely dug the music station selections... getting to listen to Peter Gabriel and Oingo Bongo while munching on great pizza is a great way to end a night at the promenade! read more

Go ahead and pony up for the pimento bacon mac&cheese. If you are a mac&cheese fan, just do yourself this favor. I've paid WAY more for fancy mac in other high end restaurants and this mac at Newk's is just as good...maybe better, and at a better price point. Newks is my favorite place to eat, but I will never ever order to-go again. I called in an order on my way to work because they're usually fairly quick. I pulled up 5 minutes after calling. It wasn't ready, which is fine. So I sit and wait. 20 minutes goes by and I ask if it's almost done. They forgot about it and forgot to ask me what kind of soup I wanted because they were out of the one I ordered.. Still paid for my food, and was 15 minutes late for work. I swung on by the other day for lunch. I had a pizza and it was great. But I really want to tell you about something I saw that was pretty much the 13th most funny thing I have ever seen in my life. There was one waitress that seemed lost. She weaved through the crowded dining room with a large tray of Newk's goodness abover her head for a couple of minutes, perhaps looking for a table that did not exist. I kept my eyes focused on her b/c she kept bumping into people (with her caboose) that were trying to eat, which was funny to me. My spidey senses told me something really ass-slappingly funny was about to happen, AND IT DID. As she butt-bumped another customer, she lost a little balance. The giant tray above her dome began to wobble. What happens when things wobble, people? They fall! A member of the Air Force, while trying to consume his lunch and get back to safeguarding our freedom, was rewarded for his service with a salad shower! Seriously, it rained down (upon him) tomatos, lettuce and I think i saw a crouton bounce off his melon and roll down the back of his shirt. He took it like a champ though, and the waitress seemed more embarassed than whoever predicted the Saints would go to the Superbowl this year. Loved the atmosphere of this place! The food was pretty good. The first time I went I had the shrimp salad, which was just ok. The second time I had the turkey sandwich with Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese is really great. The turkey sandwich was ok minus the spicy mayo. My husband had a chicken sandwich that was so good. He also loves the crab soup. I cater frequently with my job, and used this location for the first time today. There was a mixup with my call-in order and somehow some of my order was placed under someone else. After traveling with the catering and arriving at my lunch meeting I realized we were missing two meals. Not only did they not charge me for my two missing meals, but they threw in four pieces of cake and hand-delivered it to me in Ocean Springs in a downpour during busy lunch hours. Unbelievable service above and beyond what is required. I will use them every opportunity I can. read more

The pizza has plenty of toppings with just the right amount of cheeze. The place is pretty popular and often quite busy. Found this place by accident but so glad I did. Love the food and the decor of this place. Be careful as there are two entrances to the place, one on the front facing the main road and one on the back facing Target. The one on the front is for eat in and the other for take out. You order at the counter and take a number to table so the server can bring your food. Food was fresh and delivered to the table quite quickly.
