I went to Newks after a long day of mowing lawns. I ordered curbside. Last time I visited Newks I ordered the grilled steak sandwich with mac n cheese on the side. But since I ordered curbside i wasn't able to get mac n cheese as a side, but only as an entree, so my portion size would be much larger. But I still wanted mac n cheese. I ordered the grilled steak sandwich and six mac n cheese with bacon. The service was speedy and I was happy with it. But my meal was another story. Last time I came to Newks my grilled steak sandwich was delicious, but this time it was quite the contrary. The cheese on my sandwich was very wet and runny, and looked like white water, and it was missing onions. My mac n cheese was terrible, it was no creamy but very... soggy and bland. What a wonderful little find. I pride myself on finding the best soup places in the dmv. This lobster and crab bisque was on point. It was flavorful and the shrimp po boy that accompanied it was delicious. It was and unexpected surprise to have a po boy without fried shrimp. The bread was soft and tasty. I will definitely be back to this location when I am in Crofton. This is a large shopping area that has everything form Applebee's to Burger King. There's shopping stores like home goods and a target nearby. You can certainly get all your errands run and a hot bowl of soup all in the same area. That's what I call a win-win! read more

I haven't been at Newk's since they first opened. No particular reason other than it not the first thing that comes to mind since there are so many options for dining in the Crofton/Gambrills area. I decided to go down memory lane and I forgot how tasty their sandwiches were. Their bread were warm, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. We had their Chicken Salad and The Italian sandwiches. Both were absolutely delicious. Customer service was also on point. Definitely will be back soon. read more

Found my way over in Crofton running errands and was hungry. I discovered Newk's Eatery nearby. There's one in Annapolis, near the Whole Foods, but I've never been. I enjoyed my lunch on the patio where we could socially distance. It was delicious fresh food and nice service - everyone working hard to please the customers. Had Splenda iced tea (thank you for the calorie free option pre-sweetened!), a whole Italian sub (super fresh, very delicious with a lot of meat and cheese and the perfect amount of condiments) and a side Greek salad (fresh, well dressed, lots of black olives and pepperoncini). Just had lunch at Newk's in Gambrills,Md. They never fail in providing delicious food and are always welcoming from the time we step through the door to the time we leave. I got the "Q" sandwich and lobster bisque and my wife got the Turkey and cheese sandwich and Greek salad. Everything was fresh and delicious (especially the bisque). The staff was great. They welcomed us as we walked in; took our order and when it was brought out made sure to verify we got what we ordered. Another great perk and one that is greatly appreciated is the military discount that Newk's gives. I hate to say upgrade from a Panera type restaurant but it is! Really good food, made quickly, delivered with a smile. You order at a counter where you can watch the food being made behind the cashier. You're given a number, a smiling server bring your order to your table. Quick and easy. Menu is decent size, huge salads! Pizza, sandwiches and soups. There's a pickle, breadsticks, parmesan bar in the front of the restaurant if you need any extras. Love this! I had a margarita pizza and a side caesar salad. It was off the 2 for menu. Pizza was decent size. Crust was chewy, could have been little crisper. Nice amount of cheese. A friend and I headed to Newk's today because they have a large variety of salads. I have to say, the salad was pretty darn tasty! I hadn't been here before and when she asked if I wanted a small salad or a large one, I said large because I didn't know the size. Well the salad was bigger than my face!!! Yum! I ordered the simply salad (which is on the online menu but wasn't on the board) because I do not eat meat. The other salads looked sooo good but I hate paying for meat I don't want. If there was an option to pay less for a salad w/o the meat, that would be awesome! They have a variety of dressings to choose from as well as olive oil and vinegar. They also have a few extra toppings for your meal available. I thought the price for what I got was great (under $10 for a HUGE salad and an equally large cup for your choice of fountain). Boy, I've really been sleeping on this place! Eek! I've passed it dozens of times, but never thought to stop until I checked it out on Yelp first. With so many positive reviews, I knew I had to check it out for myself. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't really sure what to order. The cashier was extremely helpful and friendly, as he came from behind the counter to show me the menu (it's located to the right of the registers) and explain the many options I could make. They specialize in salads, sandwiches and pizzas. I decided on the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich with a side of fruit for my lunch and I also ordered the Cobb Salad for my dinner for later. Since it was a carry-out order, I waited at a table for a few minutes and the server brought me my food. Had I been dinning in, I would've placed my order at the register, had a seat and the server would deliver the food to me. They have ample amount of seating indoors, as well as a patio outside with seating. The food was shockingly really good! I wasn't expecting one little old shrimp po boy to pack so much flavor in it. The shrimp on the po boy was seasoned perfectly and the flavor was awesome. It was a nice size sandwich with plenty of shrimp in every bite. Definitely plenty for lunch. When I eventually ate the Cobb salad, it blew my mind! Pecans, blue cheese, eggs, chicken....they had everything in it but the kitchen sink. It comes with blue cheese dressing, but I asked for honey mustard dressing since I heard such great things about it. You should too because it had some heat that kicks you in the back of your throat when you eat it. Delish! I'm glad I decided to check Newk's out because I'm now a huge fan. My cousins had been ranting & raving about this spot for months before my initial visit. In fact, when my little cousin celebrated her Sweet16, guess where she wanted to have dinner... I was like, are you sure? We can go anywhere you want. However, she was adamant about celebrating her birthday at Newk's. I have enjoyed all the fresh food options that are available here. The employees are attentive and food prepared with high standards. There is a cooler set up with grab and go options of salads(w/dressing), drinks and such if you don't have a lot of time for indecisiveness. They have a variety of rotating soups that are different yet yummy. The ambiance inside is enough to make you want to bring a book and sit for a while. Normally I'm in love with newks food, I get food from here almost weekly but, Last night I bought a salad to go for lunch today (something I've done several times) and when eating it I found that my tomatoes are molding and my lettuce is also bad. I couldn't even eat it. I'm so disappointed. I love the food there and normally I have no complaints. I would hate to have ate more then I did and end up sick and I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else. I understand times are tough but that should be no excuse for freshness of the food being served. I had to waste 90% of my lunch because of it being rotten. I was up in Village at Waugh Chapel in Gambrills for another reason and saw this place as I was looking to park. The Missus and I were up for lunch so we thought we'd give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it's a great place for lunch (probably for dinner, too. Yes, it's "fast casual" but it has a great atmosphere a wide variety of eats on the menu (including pizza and some alcohol). There is an island with lots of condiments and breadsticks. Plus they deliver to you at the table after you order, The food is quite good and the service was quick and efficient.
