The staff was rude while we were ordering. She was not listening to the order which resulted in it being incorrect. When we went to get it corrected, the gentleman at the counter would not acknowledge that we were trying to talk to him, he just turned around and started talking to another staff member. This is a great restaurant to check out. They have many locations but I finally went to one locally here in Gulfport. Too bad they don't have more locations on the coast that I know of. Nice restaurant but kinda hard to get to; due to a busy road and lot of traffic. You can not make a left into it right only but good thing it's on the corner off highway 49 across from crossroads. They have another location in the Promenade in D'Iberville. This mainly known for fresh made food. More of the fresh salads, Pizza, sandwiches, soup fare. They do offer a small selection of desserts (cakes, rice crispy treats, & brownies) they do offer fresh brew tea and soft drinks. If you want more Italian to drink? They offer bottled water such as Panna & San Pelligrino (carbonated mineral water). The seating is good but more cushion in the booth instead of the tables. They have offer outdoor seating but recommend sitting outside when the weather permits (fall or spring) . Right now, per this review, it is the summer, so hot and humid. Don't recommend it if you sweat easily. More accommodating inside. In my opinion. They off grab and go if you are in a hurry. The staff is super friendly and quick to make your order. The food is excellent but well worth what you pay for. You fell like it is not enough food but actually it fills you up. The lemon cake is new to the menu and I don't know if it is limited time only? We ordered the lemon cake , Carmel cake, salmon Cesar salad, southern salad with balsamic dressing and strawberry dressing (extra charge) scoop of chicken salad on top of green salad, chicken salad sandwich (comes with a side, opted for the Coleslaw), and supreme pizza (personal size). The food was excellent! Well worth it! They do offer free WiFi. Nice place to go if you want something different. But I have to warn you, it hard to get there tho. No military discount I can tell? I'm really disappointed in our meal tonight. We usually have a good experience, but tonight I don't have much good to say. We went in to order our dinner to go instead of dining in tonight. Our first negative was the girl taking our order. She didn't quite know how to pleasantly ask what we wanted, it seemed we were more of an inconvenience. We all ordered and went out to the car to leave when I realized the bags didn't seem heavy enough. Surely enough they left out my Newk's Favorite Salad. My husband went back in to get the salad and we headed home. We all sat down to eat and I opened up my salad. Number one there were WAY too many cranberries on the salad. No big deal, I just removed half of them. I took a bite with artichoke and had to spit it out. It was extremely tough and no way anyone could have chewed and swallowed safely. The "grapes" were definitely not grapes. It was a pile of grape skins. Looked like the reject grape ends and skins that should have been thrown in the trash were put on my salad instead. It was a very unpleasant experience and so very disappointing. The Newk's Favorite has always been my go to salad and a favorite of mine. I'm thinking we will put Newk's on our "no-go" list and stop going for a while. read more

Newk's is such a great place to eat. They do everything well-from salads to sandwiches to soups to mac and cheese to pizza. I love the Farmer's Market Sandwich and the Newks Q. The tomato basil soup is great too. If you ever want to taste the best croutons in the world, this is where to go!!! My first visit to Newk's even though I've seen it several times and considered it. I wasn't disappointed. The staff was very attentive and eager to serve as soon as I walked in. I ordered the ultimate salad with a soft drink. The salad came out very quickly and was more than enough to fill me up. There was a great mix of fresh greens, tomatoes, three types of meat, croutons, etc. There was also a little tables of sides in the front with Watts's to throw on the salad. I didn't notice it until I was finishing up but it's a great idea if you want to personalize your salad. I'll be back again for Newk's salad. read more

Fairly decent selection of stuff. I "think" I've eaten here before but I have to strain to remember.. clearly it wasn't THAT memorable. Ordered a shrimp po-boy. It wasn't bad. Good balanced flavor but didn't get dressed the way I wanted or requested. Not that big of a deal but notable, anyway. My only real issue was with the shrimp.. a somewhat integral part of the whole "shrimp-po-boy" equation. I think I counted 5 shrimp. I've had shrimp po-boys where I had to literally excavate the sandwich out from under the shrimp. At least, they were falling out of the side. Not here. They stingy with their shrimp. At least they weren't overcooked but, then again, they only had to pay attention to 5 of those little guys so I'm assuming that they had some poor line-cook's undivided attention. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza with a garden salad as a pick up order. As my hotel was very close, I arrived well before my order pick up time. The guy at the counter mumbled something when I walked in (having never been there before) and then he just waved me over when I didn't seem to hear him. I told him I had a to go order. He was like, what's the name? Did you pay? I told him and said yes, I paid. Then he just gestures towards the tables and said: "go look on the table." My order was there. I was so excited about the pizza after a long day (8 hours) of driving. When I got back to the hotel (2 minutes away) I was so disappointed in the pizza. The toppings were tasty and fresh, but the entire pizza bottom was raw in the center and barely baked. I scraped the toppings off and just ate them. So if you like raw dough and soggy crust, this is the place for you. Couple that with lackadaisical customer "service," and this is your joint. Not me. This new Newk's location is very conveniently located next to I-10. Very clean restaurant and inexpensive prices. The service at Newk's is very friendly and helpful. Wonderful choices of salads, sandwiches, soups, and pizzas. Newk's offers 4 different choices of soups each day (with at least 1 vegetarian selection) and I ordered their vegetarian black bean soup which was delicious. They have many salad variations and the portions are good for the price. Lately I have been leaning towards the ahi tuna salad, it has nice flavor and there is no need for salad dressing because it's lightly seasoned so why add more salt and calories? For goodness sake it's a salad not a buffet bar- keep it light. However I know majority of people in this city like salad dressing and I have to say they are somewhat made but beware they do contain oil! The mini pizzas are decent for what they offer and I haven't had the sandwiches but I know they use the same meat as they do for the salads so I'm sure they are delicious. I love Newk's and I love traveling around Mississippi because they have them EVERYWHERE!! I stopped into this location for dinner on a Tuesday night, the parking lot was pretty full but the restaurant itself wasn't. I ordered my regular sandwich, Newks club no lettuce, tomato or mayo with chips and a drink. Paid for my order, took my number and sat down. When the woman brought out my sandwich, I could see before she even set it down it had mayo and tomato on it, so I let her know and she took it back to be remade. She quickly came out with my correct sandwich, but no plastic ware or napkins, so half was through my meal I had to get up and walk around the restaurant with honey mustard on my face and hands looking for a napkin. The best things about this place are the fresh brewed tea (nice and strong, and the sweet tea is sweet without being cloying) and the table of add-ons that you can have with any meal (roasted garlic, yum!). You order at the counter, they deliver to your table. Pizzas, sandwiches, soups. I rather like the spicy shrimp pizza. Everything's a little fast-food-ish, a little processed-tasting, but not badly so. Certainly better food than sit-down places like Applebee's or Chili's (I don't know how those two stay in business, I really don't). My wife recommends the veggie pizza and the cuban sandwich (if they have it, that one seems to come and go). The only problem with this place is consistency. Your dinner is being made by teenaged cooks, and the variation in quality reflects that. It's hit or miss, but only once has it been bad to the point I wish I'd gone elsewhere. read more
