First I will say that I love the food at Newk's; but the service staff is getting worse. I live close by and order pickup frequently. Most times I don't have any problem, but the last time I went there to pick up food for the family, my called in meal was not ready and I had called approximately 10 minutes earlier - which is fine but normally it is ready (they were not busy inside). I stood by watching the staff prepare food (because they have an open kitchen, I supposed for the public to watch). The first thing that caught my eye was the tall young man right in front of me who was PICKING AT HIS FACE, BLEW HIS NOSE WITH A TISSUE, RUBBED HIS GLOVELESS HANDS ON HIS PANTS, and then HE RAN HIS HAND THROUGH HIS HAIR. I am sure my mouth was open because he was mostly standing in front of the bag that was HOLDING MY FOOD and waiting for the other item(s) to complete my order. The woman who had taken my money was standing close by so I asked her ISN'T HE SUPPOSED TO BE WEARING GOVES? She turned around and quietly told the young man to wash his hands. Came in to grab a late lunch and every booth was dirty. Three employees were standing by them, two were sweeping the same area. When I spoke up to say I will clean one off, one of the three said no they are about to get cleaned. They stood around and waited for us to sit at a table. read more

Newks is a great choice eat for those who are looking for quick service and regular american food. Their kitchen is very lean and works like an assembly line.... I've come here 10+ times and have never had to wait more than 10 minutes whether it's take out or sit in. Their website is also very user friendly for looking over the menu or ordering food. Food is delicious for the price and they have healthy selection. My personal favorite is either the chicken salad sandwich or bleu cheese steak salad, but you really can't go wrong with any order as the quality of each item on the menu is very consistent. read more

I went in for lunch and got some type of bisque and mac n cheese. I am a huge mac and cheese fan and I was disappointed when my mac n cheese tasted like noodles with cooked cheese on top. The flavors werent combined together. The lobster bisque was good, but was served a little cold. I took the rest of my soup home, and when properly heated it was good. The food is good, but nothing over the top and that I couldn't make at home. I love this place. The food is great. The service is great. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is...they're constantly over-crowded and it's loud. If they could change the dining area to accommodate more people without putting tables 8 inches apart I think they be the best lunch spit in town. Try the chicken salad sandwich. Newks preps in advance and refrigerates ahi, ay J Alex's, it's hot off the grill. Presentation, no comparison; flavor, not even close. All this to say, Newks was fast, health conscious, condiment bar with bread/butter pickles, peppers and grated parmesan, order and pay at register, get your own fountain drink, and runner brings food to you. The sandwich was excellent but to me lacked shrimp (they could have slid a few more peices in there) The salad was a decent salad until I visited the bar and got some fixin's :) the drinks are always the right sweetness and the staff is always polite. We were visiting friends in Bossier City when we were told that we had to come here. We went at lunch on a Thursday and I could tell by the packed restaurant that it was a popular place. Everything on the menu looked great! I ordered a half sandwich/half salad combo with the shrimp po'boy and ceasar salad. The sandwich was good, plenty of shrimp! The salad was a decent size and very tasty. I loved the bar with pickles, croutons, and other side items available. As we came in the door (with a 2 month baby in tow), the manager was impressed that we brought along such a little fan to eat with us. Our friends replied that it was the babies favorite place. I guess this is the reason the same man brought us 2 slices of chocolate cake on the house as a thank you for being such loyal customers! I like the food at Newks, but it's always super busy and the workers are not as attentive as they should be. Also, you have to tip BEFORE you receive your food, which is retarded because what if you receive bad service? I hate places that force you to tip before. I know for a fact that everyone there makes at least minimum wage, not $2.50 (or whatever a waiter makes). But, I am a nice person so I still tip. Last night was the worst experience I have ever had. It was an hour until closing (not 10 min) and there were only 10 groups of people in the restaurant). I had came inside and ordered mine to go (TO GO!) and waited on a chair. I am normally a very patient person. I had been waiting for 30 MINUTES!! The guys in the kitchen were just chit chatting (one girl kept having to repeat orders to him-seemed like she and one other person were actually doing their job). I even started to look upset and NO ONE ASKED me if I was okay or if I was waiting on an order. I finally get my order to leave super PISSED and I get home to see that one of my orders was wrong (iof course my own freaking order) I normally check my food beforehand, but I was just ready to leave! It's a to go order, it should be quicker than everyone else that are sitting in the restaurant and it shouldn't take that long if the place isn't even that busy! And the mac and cheese was cold. So needless to say, I don't know if I will be coming back, because that was ridiculous. I finally get my food for it to not even be satisfying because it was wrong.
