Brough my vehicle in for an oil change. Really my fault for getting an oil change at a place that runs 14 different businesses in one. However oil changes are suppose to be simple. Next thing i know they got an 19 year kid taking shit apart under my hood doing god knows what. Commenting on parts I need replaced they had no right even wrenching on. I have lived in Newman for almost 2 years now. I travel to the Bay area daily, which really packs on the miles of my vehicles. I took my work van here for an oil change and was extremely happy with not only how down to earth and personable they are but how ethical they are, if your anything like I am it's always hard to find a company who's not out to rip you off, especially when you move to a new town, Since my first oil change, I have had many service requirements, not only for my service and repair work vans, but also my personally owned vehicles. These services have included brakes, tune ups, light replacements, transmission replacement, and of course oil changes. My personal experience is that this establishment is very professional, very informative, not to mention very competitive in pricing. I've been taking my car here for service for about a year now. Up until today, I'd been extremely satisfied with the service Carlos and Chris provide. They do really great work. Unfortunately, today I called from my work phone to schedule an almost $1000 repair. I was hung up on 4 consecutive times. When I finally got through, a "lady" answered with a short, annoyed "HELLO?" I asked her to confirm that I'd reached Newman Smog & Lube as Carlos and Chris always answer with a professional greeting. She ignored me and said "Who is this?" I told her that I was a customer who was now irritated at her lack of professionalism. She confirmed that she hung up on me several times because she thought I was a telemarketer. As a business owner myself, I asked to speak with the manager so I could tell them about my negative experience with this employee. She shocks me by telling me she's actually the owner! Well, this changed everything. I gave 4 stars for the excellent work and service the technicians provide. Left out 1 star due to the owner's awful attitude and her terrible lack of customer service. Way to scare away your customers lady. read more

I'd leave Zero stars for this place. Don't leave your property here, unless you don't mind it getting broken in to, or better yet, stolen off their lot. We had a truck broken into once, and our keys "mysteriously" disappear another time. The best one was when our brand new travel trailer was stolen from behind the gate. They never called us, I noticed it missing three days after the break in. While I was there with the police, the officer asked Carlos if they'd reported the break in, Carlos said "To be honest, we get broken into so often we dont even report it anymore." Something they neglected to share with their customers. And yes, the same RUDE owner mentioned below was sitting at her desk being rude and behaving like it was just another day. This shop was recommended to me about 4 months ago. I took my Ford diesel in for oil, coolant, and tranny service. Customer service was great. I am new to the diesel community and had a lot of questions of the mechanic. (cant remember his name right now). Very friendly and helpful. I wanted specific fluids to be added, they gave me a quote and ordered the stuff. When I went in to pick up my truck, they actually charged me less than the quote by about $30. The product was less than they expected and passes that on to me! They could have easily charged the full amount and I wouldn't have been the wiser. That is the kind of honesty I'm looking for. Today I will be taking in my work truck for a service. Will definitely use this shop for now on. read more

I've been going to Newman Smog since about 2004(?) when they were in their old location. They've always been good to me. I had to get a new battery today and the whole process was quick. It's never good to have car issues but they make it as painless as they can and keep you informed of what's going on. read more

I almost forgot about this place since I haven't been taking my cars here for several years now. I would rather drive to Turlock for a smog test even though I live in Newman. Even if you have an appointment it's going to take longer than most smog test stations and the price is a joke. This business predicates on being the one and only smog place in Newman to gouge the price. No thanks, I would rather drive to Turlock. read more

Earlier this year I brought my truck in to have it looked at for a missed fire. Chris fixed the truck finding out it was a bad coil. While I was there I also had it smogged. Great customer service. I don't have to worry about unnecessary work being done or being overcharged. We take both of our vehicles there.

If I could give this shop a no star, I would. This shop has worked on my car a number of times and always had a song and dance about anything I questioned. The last straw was after they worked on my breaks, my breaks did not work properly. I took my car to another shop and found out that my rear brakes were no longer working at all and I realized how much they jeopardized my life along with my children's lives as the result. I would not recommend this shop to anyone for any reason! read more

As I stated to you after I apologized, I have been harrassed by a telemarketer all day, that also uses an 1(800) number, and you were persistent in calling as they have been in calling me all day. I do not appreciate you slandering our business over a simple miss understanding. Carlos and Chris are a mirror image of what our business is all about and reflects what we have installed upon them.
