Needed replacement glass for a thermal insert. They promised 2 weeks for the glass and it came right on time. They installed in a couple hours. As a plus, they told me where to buy and how to install latches for my thermal inserts, many of which are broken. Called for a quote on a shower door. They came two weeks later to measure and said I would have a quote the following week. I called two weeks later to follow up on the quote and left a message for them to call me back. I did not here back. I left messages over the next two weeks but never hear back. I lost a month trying to get an estimate from them. If they did not want the job I would have preferred that they told me up front so I could look elsewhere. I ended up going to Somerset Glass and they responded quickly and I am very happy with their work. Save yourself time an effort and go else where for you project. read more

Newport Glass was fantastic. Ken and James were super receptive to all my inquiries, and came up with a fantastic design. Due to a bow in one of my walls, we used a combination of U channel (for 1 wall) and clips on the bottom. Ken was willing to do the job with all clips or with all u channel, but recommended this mixed approach for my job. I could not find any examples online of this, but I trusted Ken's judgment. And I'm glad I did. The result is beautiful. Rodney came out to the job twice to make sure everything was 100% spot on, and the install was done quickly and professionally. I also had them do 8 pieces of glass for my kitchen cabinets, which they put in on the same day, no problem. I almost didn't hire Newport Glass because their price was significantly lower than the other companies I got bids from. I was worried that the lower price may have meant lower quality, but man was I wrong. I'll be using Newport Glass for all my future projects and have already recommended them to my parents for their bathroom remodel. Photos of the shower barely do it justice. Brought two wood panels for mirrors replacement. Owner told me a week and half to get them back. Three weeks later I called and a lady answered the phone "No, not done yet". At this point I still did not even got a quote! Asked about when they should be ready. Answer: "I don't know... we got a lot of work to do". Pushing for answer I asked for the owner to call me back. Same lady called me back the day after. "Maybe end of next week, or you can take your mirrors back". Thank you, that's exactly what I did. Went to Providence Glass & Mirror on a Friday. Met with Winston, got an exact estimate on the spot and was told, might be ready this afternoon. Told him, no rush I can come on Monday. Got a call Monday morning, job ready. Went, job was done perfectly, paid the balance... Happy customer! Well worth the extra miles! If Newport Glass treat their employees the way treat their customers... probably the reason they're understaffed. read more

We called 3 other companies, Newport Glass was the only company to call us back and they came right out and measured our windows. They gave us an estimate right away and we ordered the storm windows from them. The windows came in earlier than they estimated. They called us and scheduled install and we had them installed a week earlier to our delight!! Their price was very good also. read more

Almost three weeks ago I called to get a price on an oversize bathroom mirror. I wanted a beveled edge on it, and they said they would get me a price and call me back in the next 24 hours. TWO weeks later, I called them to follow up (why is it up to me to follow up?). The guy who answered said "oh yeah, the note is right here. I'll get a price and call you back within one hour". Four days later, still no reply, so I went to another vendor in East Providence. VERY knowledgeable and responsive. I had also asked Newport Plate & Mirror Glass for a 48" glass shelf for the bathroom. The guy said it would be $20 because it is "just a narrow piece of glass". The second company informed me that at 48" in length, it would need to be tempered to avoid warping, bending, and shattering with the weight of any toiletries on it. The people at NP&MG 1.) don't seem to know what the hell they are talking about, and 2.) don't give a crap about customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more
