I walked in 11 minutes after the start -- one minute past their cutoff. There were maybe four to six people in the room. I explained the family situation involving my son. I told them it was our anniversary. My wife was distraught, and I pleaded with them and tried to reason with them. They turned us away anyway. We weren't asking anyone to slow the class down or stay late -- we would have caught up on our own. My wife left humiliated on the day she had planned as a gift. I get it -- you have to run a business, and you have to start on time. But she was there inside the window you gave us and you wouldn't seat her. It came down to one minute and two people standing in front of you, and you chose the minute. The class started without us. So did the last impression I'll have of this place.

Guess what, I never got it and had to reach out again. Overall it took us over 3 months from the first class to get our pieces. It's a great concept and fun but would not recommend this business to anyone.

That's her choice job now, I guess. So then my 4 year old son is helping put the items in the one bag and the box of crayons bottom falls out. "oh, looks like one of them broke" is all white haired lady says. Not a "let me get you a new box," or any help picking them up, or even a light hearted joke. Why is this lady here except to create an environment for suffering and be the arbiter of it? It would have been a much better experience if she were gone. Michael's does not pay me to do self check out but if I have to do it, I'd prefer there not to be a cold, silent matron making you feel like you're doing something wrong and having you pay for a bag you didn't ask for. The attendants were slow to replenish the paint and acted like it was an inconvenience, even though they were getting a "mandatory gratuity". They could have been nicer and more friendly. One of the colors they "replenished" was not the same color as we got at the beginning even though we asked for the same color # and the attendant even checked the # to make sure, and one of the kids ending up having two different colors of paint in one section of her ceramic piece that she was really disappointed about. When we asked the attendant how we could fix it, she said she didn't know and literally walked away mid-conversation to help someone else. She clearly did not care about our party once we sat down. My bill was almost $300 and the mandatory gratuity was $49.32 which was absolutely not worth the service we got. I doubt we would come back to your store since we never had this issue at Color Me Mine.

I feel their price point is pretty reasonable, and their selection is great considering the size of the store. Staff is nice and seems helpful. Overall, cute Japanese stationery store to visit for all your stationery needs whether you're a seasoned artist or beginner. They have everything for everyone. We had the owner helping us throughout the process, from forming the clay in the shape we wanted, to heating, buffering, and polishing! She was really helpful, especially to me since I'm not the best with arts and crafts. I loved the way our rings came out, and these are both our favorite rings. I'd highly recommend coming to Soft Land for anyone looking for fun arts and crafts projects to try hands on! We're looking to come back for their stained glass workshop in the future ^_^

First off - it's definitely harder to make them than it seems. lol If you have option paralysis or get overwhelmed easily, prepare yourself! Look at alllllll the colors in my photos available to use and maybe plan ahead. They provide templates of different floral, geometric, and banded designs that you can use, but you can go off-script if your noggin comes up with an idea! They give you a decent amount of time to create a design, glue said design in place, and then fill the rest of your lamp's empty space in with the tiny glass beads. There are a few final steps you can't complete while in "class" but that's due to the glue needing time to sit. You're not left in the dark however, as they show you a how-to video which is included in your take-home kit via a QR code. =) I noticed this place has other classes that seem like fun (terrarium and some sort of small dish painting?). I may need to return. Notes: - You interact with glue so you'll likely get messy. - There's a restroom to wash your hands, or if nature calls. - In the small bead fill-in time frame, everyone drops them. It's human.
