I used to build Gundam kits years ago when I was in high school. Was introduced to it by a friend that was from Japan. Until a few months ago, I randomly saw the show being streamed on Hulu, then I remembered it. So, I searched online and the first few search results came from Amazon. However, overly priced and didn't want to drop hundreds of dollars on a kit. Then, find the 1/144 models spontaneously at Hobby Lobby. It was fun building them, but I remembered my friend had a bigger one. The search bug for Gundam got addictive. And fortunately, I found a new store locally in Concord. I but the Wing Zero 1/100. After I built it, I went online and saw it for much less than what I paid for. The search continues and I found New Type. They have their website up to date with tons of selections. I've now bought close to 10 and I couldn't be happier. They're only open from Monday - Saturday from 2pm-4pm. However, if you buy your items before noon, they usually can provide it to you same day. Or you can have it shipped. I love this place. Hope they consider opening to the public again. I'd love to use the paint both they used to provide.

Died and gone to heaven. Rows upon rows of Gunpla.

This place is awesome. Everything you could ask for for Gunpla builders. I wish I found this place sooner. They have a good selection of building supplies ranging from paints (Tamiya and Mr Color from what I saw) to sandpapers to cutters to.... everything. Selection is amazing. HG to PG kits as well as some of the anime related ones like One Piece and and FMP. Prices are very fair if you don't feel like surfing eBay and I'm all about supporting local hobby shops as there are so few left. Staff is super friendly. Also, they just moved to this location so the building stations and airbrush booth haven't been set up yet. Will definitely be coming back here. RIP wallet. Lol.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place has the worst customer service. I will never shop here again.

I was impressed with the size of the facility, but wasn't with the variety of models.

Is the warehouse open for in-person shopping yet?

Hi Calvin, we're working on setting up our retail store, which will be at the same location as the warehouse in Union City. We're aiming to have it open this summer. Thanks for your patience and patronage!d

Is the store pick up still 2pm-4pm at the new location? first time picking up.

Curbside Pickup Hours are 11am-5pm at new location in Union City. Must place order online first. Thanks for shopping with us!

Now that covid is gone, what excuse are you going to use to say you won't open physical space? I'm legit considering going all the way to Ying's in SF..

We're moving to Union City this summer. Curbside pickup to resume in the fall, with retail to follow sometime in 2026.

Is curbside pick-up for orders still available? I didn't see any option for that on the website.

Unfortunately we do not offer walk-ins or pick-ups anymore. Online orders only, thanks for understanding.

Is this a store you can enter and shop or is it the distribution site. I came here last year during business hours and the door was locked?

We don't have in-store/warehouse shopping at the moment. You can order online for curbside pickup (Sun-Friday 2-4pm).

Are there open for walk in shopping yet? Thank you.

No they are not open for walk in. But you can order online and pick up at the store if you call ahead.

Was this place originally located in Hayward as Gundam labs?

    Yes it was

Hows the pricing of the kits?

Not bad for a brick and mortar location. They have a good selection for aftermarket detailing supplies like decals and jeweling. Less pricey than most of the import places in SF, and competitive with the bigger named hobby stores. Also great… Read more

The location itself was a little tricky to spot since there are no guides or labels outside? They just have a single stand saying the times? Which means they are betting on fans to just come on by and no local interactions like most firms Addressing the inside, it's just a small simple place. Room for events on the bottom if people are into those, and a well organized store on the top? They have official merchandise of various games featuring ZZZ. The prices here are direct and fair so there isn't any price gouging like what is usually seen at Anime Conventions? Plus they have a mini point system based on purchases, I'm eager to see what else can be done with it? At the moment, I am certain this is the only or one of the very few locations to buy this kind of merchandise ( Excluding Conventions ). It must also be mentioned this isn't an Anime goods area, it caters to cultured gamers of specific titles? Just a fun small place to get your official goods of specific "titles."

I'll say it again and again. I always love it when business owners are enthusiasts and lovers of…read morewhat they do, especially if it's something somewhat more "niched" such as an anime/hobby shop. To see the owners here being BIG BIG fans of the titles that they carry is truly heartwarming and shows the dedication that they have for what they do and for what they do for their patrons. Not only is this an anime shop, but the downstairs area is used for community and fandom themed events! LOVE this. It's always amazing when there is a space dedicated for fans to convene together and share the things that they love. When I visited last winter, the space was dedicated to Tears of Themis and each "section" was decorated, curated, and themed very carefully to each male love interest which shows not only dedicated effort, but the fact that the people who set it up are familiar with the series. Cannot get better than that. AND I HAVE TO SAY, even though the shop is only the second floor, it is HANDS DOWN the LARGEST selection and variety of HoYoverse and YoStar series goods that I have seen in SoCal. Hell, might even be a bigger selection than if you combined SoraGumi, Sakura Anime Toys, Anime Station, Animate, etc. There were SO MANY Arknights good it was insane. Some of them were event limited items too. They had these huge acrylics of the characters and artbooks and so many more than I have seen elsewhere. It was also blind boxes galore for character tags, keychains (some blind box series were for only ONE character- it was W here which is a huge W), and much more like stickers and plushies. Stickers I haven't seen elsewhere and plushies in limited stock at other shops. If you are into any of the HoYoverse series such as Genshin, Honkai, Zenless Zone Zero etc. There is rows and rows of merchandise for that including and not limited to stickers, keychains, acrylics, plushies, accessories, bags, and so much more. They also had the biggest collection of Tears of Themis items too. I usually only see ToT stuff at most be acrylic stands, some stationary, keychains, and maybe a plushie or a perfume thing, but they had WAY more here, including birthday boxes for each of the boys, blankets, calendars, albums, cheki storage and so much more. Additionally, hands down, the MOST Azur Lane merchandise I have seen for sale physically in person too. And a note to add, the owners were such big fans they made the trek to SoCal to go to the maid cafe collab event? If that's not a showing of their dedication and love for what they do, I'm not sure what is. But back to the review, they had stuff I haven't seen before such as blankets, calendars, and drinkware. Other series that they have available are Wuthering Waves, Infinity Nikki, and for all you GIRLIES OUT THERE, LOVE AND DEEP SPACE! They even recently had a LaDS (cat boy??) themed event there too, complete with cardboard cut outs for photos. They also do preorders for goods too, which is very nice. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of these series but it is DEFINITELY worth a stop if you are in the Bay Area.

Awesome if your looking for something specific and I was looking for just that. Thank you so much for this spot for having that separated and allowing a quicker easier ease of access. I was able to build a small hallway of the Disney Rise of the Resistance ride. Epic and memorable. This place is definitely staple for me. Pricing wise, I believe it's 0.25 a brick and 0.50 a long slab. Personally it would be cool if they charged a bulk price for a full cup, that's my only little gripe. But the people here are friendly and will help find anything they can that's within their means.

I asked one more question, which I believe was the most important one, is there anything I should do before I come in and they said no. Ultimately I took apart the Lego set, thinking it would be easier for them, plus no one I know would want a Lego set that's already put together. Where's the fun in that? Overnight I took apart the set and bagged everything according to the manuals. I think I did a pretty good job at doing all of that for them. The following day I went in and informed the person at the counter that I had called about trading in a Lego set for cash. I proceeded to show them the bags and manuals for the set. The guy behind the counter gave me a blank stare and looked at the bags and threw out a number. It wasn't a fair price, their reasoning behind it was the set was not put together, and how were they to know if it was the correct set and if all the parts were there. Furthermore, they stated that if I brought it in put together, the cash back would've been a little higher. Still not a fair price. He gave me the bags back and said I could go home put it back together and come back later. I just gave up. I sold it as is. In all honesty, I shouldn't have, but I lost my job prior to this interaction and I needed the money. Honestly, if you have Legos that you're trying to sell, just hold out and sell them on your own. Go to different toy stores, look up local toy groups, or trade events. It's not worth going here.

Not many people came here when I visited but probably because it's during a Monday rush hour I guess. There's not much that they seem to sell here but to be fair, they just opened last year. They might expand in a few years if their business is going well. If you're shopping for video games, then this isn't really a right shop since most of the products are cards and other card related products. I don't play card games, but this is really good if people are into this hobby. They also have tabletop gaming where there are several tables and seats probably where visitors can play cards? Not really familiar with how it works but I've been going to other stores like this and there would be groups of people playing cards together in those tables. If you ever ask about pricing they just say go look at the computer. Honestly it's just really poor customer service. Giving this place a 3 because they do have a variety of things in their selection but they should definitely work on the service side of things.
