I would be very careful working with NexGen. These guys damaged our ceiling, tore off paint from it, and have not returned our calls for the last 4 days. Their technicians fled our house before we could talk with them about it. Story - Our AC unit started not working and they were quick to arrive and investigate the situation. However, the first technician they sent out thought it was a problem with just cleaning the dust on our blower. Turned out it still didn't work properly after running it later that night - in fact our house got hotter. The same technician came back out the next day after we called NexGen and we found out he had forgotten to plug a wire back in for the condenser on our AC unit - this is a lack of professionalism and care in the work performed. Our AC unit then would only work for about 2-3 hours. We called NexGen to come back out and look at the issue again with a different technician who told us instead we needed a brand new furnace. The next day our furnace was installed, but during the installation, the technicians damaged our ceiling and tore paint off from the ceiling. They tried to glue parts of our ceiling back and it was done so poorly. They even left glue on our walls still. When my wife and I saw the damage done to our ceiling they had already left. I have been trying to get a hold of NexGen since they left and nobody has returned my call for the last 4 days since our installation. The lack of quality of service and attention to detail is embarrassing. The technicians they sent out were also talking loudly about how new they were to the Company - makes sense as to how much of a shoddy job they did. read more

Nexgen ended up following up with me directly about my terrible experience and, to their credit, seemed to take the issues seriously. Further, in addition to refunding my installation, they also offered to cover the additional costs I incurred by having to hire another plumber to do the job. That was appreciated. Was this still a disaster and a massive time-suck? Yes. But did they do the right thing once they were publicly shamed? Also yes. read more

I hired them for above 5k to remove and replace all ducting in my crawlspace. On day one, instead of removing the old fiberglass ducts, the technicians covered the existing fiberglass with some kind of silver adhesive, making it look like new ducts were installed when viewed from the vents. That's flat-out deceptive. I took photos and videos and sent them to the manager. (check image) The next day they admitted they had "misunderstood the assignment." I allowed them to continue. They replaced most of the ducts but left a large chunk of old fiberglass in the crawlspace without telling me (check image). I only found it after personally inspecting the crawlspace. After they "fixed" that, air started leaking from several vents, and now the air pressure is uneven between rooms. On top of that, they still left fiberglass debris in the crawlspace. (check image) Overall, this was sloppy, misleading, and unprofessional work. I would not trust them with any HVAC job that requires basic competence or honesty. Some of the technicians showed such blatant dishonesty that it honestly felt criminal. The behavior of some technicians went far beyond incompetence and crossed into deliberate deception. read more

They do not stand by their installation. 2 and a half years after install we had a clogged condensate line and an, unnoticed until now, crack in one of the relief pipe unions. Tried calling them out for a basic check on who is responsible for both issues. $80 fee even if its their workmanship that is the problem. The new guys we have servicing our hvac now would have replaced said cracked part for free as it was cracked on install. No one has touched that part. As for the condensate line; they installed it without unions making it impossible to clean out without cutting the pipe out first. They used glue to join all pipes except the pipe parts joined to the coil box. They talk a big game and have a nice video, which is why we went with them to install our new system, but at the end of the day, once they have your money you aren't their problem anymore. Pacific aire has been nothing but helpful since we signed up with them last year. They are going to install the pipe the right way. read more

Wow. Who knew the Home Depot $8.88 inspection special would be such a good deal and, more importantly, that NexGen appears to be honest? Initially I thought "Okay, they'll come and tell me all the stuff that's wrong and needs to be fixed." Andrew came to inspect the HVAC system and said that everything is perfect! He suggested a small maintenance item but it wasn't a big deal and wasn't essential. NexGen, as part of the $8.88 inspection offered a plumbing evaluation. The guy appeared on time, checked out the few minor issues I had, provided workarounds I could employ and provided a quote on a couple of leaky faucets and a pressure issue. I'm so pleasantly surprised at the honesty and professionalism exhibited by both of their guys. read more

I have used them before on the hvac and was pleased with their work. But....i can't say that on the plumbing. I called for a repair of the shower faucet. I expected to pay several hundred dollars for parts and labor but, I had no idea he would try to charge me almost $2000 for this fix. The problem is that he kept beating around the bush and not being honest about how he was going to make the repair. He claimed he couldn't work from the wall within that bathroom, but had to go tear into the tile and the connecting shower. He claimed he was going to use a cover plate and that would take work. When I asked him how much is the cover plate? He couldn't quote me a price but instead said oh everything's out a flat rate. Keep in mind these cover plates, only cost $27 at your nearest hardware store. I am no stranger to the cost for services of the building trades like this, which made this interaction even more insulting. He was condescending and disrespectful - all with a smile. Disrespectful in the manner to think that people don't understand the basic principles of Plumbing. Disrespectful in the way to think that I cannot understand his work plan for the repair and determine what is a reasonable price. This was like extortion. His attitude was if you don't use this quote, then no one else is going to fix it. Really??? I never thought this company or its representatives with stoop this low. I did pay the diagnostic fee and he has yet to send me the quote. It seems that by not sending the quote. It's a way of not having evidence that he tried to upsell me for something He knew he was overcharging. This makes me wonder, how does nexgen really supervise these people in the field? buyer beware! My recommendation to everyone is always get more than one quote. To NextGen - do better! Once the digital quote is developed, have it sent over right away! And they caused a leak in the attic and ruined our brand new remodeled ceiling, which they sent an in experienced person out to fix it... paint doesn't match the gloss type and there are very noticeable ripples in the ceiling paint. I called the main line with my request, so maybe he was sent from Northridge branch, maybe some other. But thanks to whichever branch sent him. He was AWESOME. He called and his estimate of when he'd arrive was on time (earlier than expected, always a bonus!). And it took him less that 30 minutes to do the job. Easiest plumbing job ever. I love NexGen. They don't understand the product, quote on bigger equipment that is needed, unfamiliar with proper installation processes, equipment will break down numerous times as it is not the proper equipment. They were at Home Depot and the husband made an appointment for a complimentary cleaning for our HVAC system. Right from the start the tech took a peak at our unit and said our unit was not good because we have a unit where we clean our filters. He said the purchasing the white HEPA filters were better. He proceeds to tell me that cleaning the filters aren't good because replacing the filters not fully dry would cause issues. First off, we don't put wet filters back in the unit. After 10 mins of inspecting our unit, he came down with recommendations to fix/upgrade our unit. Then he takes the filters to clean and I'm thinking he is going to use a solution to clean them. Nope, he literally just sprayed it with water. I told him to stop. He basically was doing exactly what he said owners do and put the filters back wet. I asked how much to fix the unit which was replace the capacitor. I know a capacitor runs around $15-30. He said we don't charge for parts but for service, $366. I was blown away by the price. He then again highly recommends I replace the reusable filter with the HEPA ones. I asked it was compatible for my unit. He confirmed it was. Spoiler, it's not. I did the research and my unit can't be replaced with the white HEPA filters, my unit would require a separate HEPA unit. He then inspects the outside AC and again was just going to spray with water to clean. If I wanted to remove some debris that is considered a deep cleaning for a price. He made recommendations to upgrade my unit. All in all, the upgrades to the outside unit, inside unit, and repair totaled over $2k. The upgrades were unnecessary and to replace the capacitor is $15-30 part fix. If I listened to his advice to replace our filters with the HEPA filter, I would have damaged my unit. I felt the offer to clean our unit (and I really wouldn't consider it cleaning as no solution was used, more like wash down) was a bait and switch to sell. read more

Installed my new Ecobee thermostat. Even though 2 other techs would not touch it. Because the wires are all over the place. I originally wanted to do this myself. Do not buy a NexGen heating and air conditioning unit! Their product is crap and the customer service is terrible. I purchased a brand new unit from NexGen two and a half years ago. They charged me $25,000 for a unit, and despite my having it maintained and cleaned regulary, for the second summer in a row it has stopped working. Last summer when it broke down the tech missed two appointments and when he finally did show up he informed me that the unit had a faulty compressor. He replaced it and assured me that I'd have no further problems. At my service call for regular maintence in June I was told the unit was fine. Then I come home today to discover that it's BROKEN DOWN AGAIN. When I called, it sounded like there was a party going on in the office and I was informed that it would be over a week before they could get a tech to me. This company sucks! i am so upset i feel like calling the better business bureau or filing some kind of a claim against this fraudulent circus of a company. They tried to scam us into getting new ac and spending tens of thousands. they walked around our house for hours to make it appear like they were trying so hard to get to the bottom of our problem. they told us they were cutting off power to our ac while we decide to order a new unit. so many a night i was cooking unable to sleep- we weren't ready to just hand over all this money to them. i decided to get another opinion and called hammer. they came over and restored power and in front of me in real time removed a filter that needed changing. they cost 30 bucks i think maybe. our units are perfectly fine. they cleaned our coils. changed out a little power cylinder that was a hundred bucks in preparation for the summer... done. There was never anything wrong with any of our units. these guys lied and saw me as a stupid cash cow. scammers! must be on commission and project who has th money to take the bait. and naivety. stay away from these commission based techs and big companies. go with mom and pop companies like Hammel. amazing. read more

I had this company come out to give me a quote for a fix for an AC unit no longer blowing cold air, they quoted me 20k for a completely new one and recommended I spend 50k to just replace my second unit as well because it was "old" even though it was working fine. Had a second opinion come check it out, they actually spent time looking into the problem and fixed it for a grand. Literally the only problem was our fan on top of the ac wasn't working and needed to be replaced. Thanking god I didn't go with this company, hoping people see this review so they can know to get a second, third or even fourth opinion!! From one thousand to fifty thousand is a HUGE difference. It's not that the service people weren't nice, it's that they saw an opportunity to make a bunch of money on someone who didn't know any better rather than fixing the actual problem. Edit: I also wanted to mention that the service tech only looked at my unit for about five minutes before calling in his finance person that tried to sell me on the 50k price tag, and that he made it abundantly clear that they did not feel comfortable "fixing" my AC, only replacing it. Stay away. They advertise low cost filter change and heater service. Then they apply fraudulent prices, high-pressure, corrupt sales tactics like bait & switch, and actual physical intimidation like not leaving when asked for time to think over a proposal. I walked away from him three times, and he kept popping back up in my house to badger me. The prices for services were egregious and the part they wanted to install was called something different by the service technician, but he installed a completely different part and then told us it was the new and advanced version. It is noisy and cost 20% on amazon of what they charged. He did NOT install the part he said he would install but changed it to something different and way less expensive. BBB site shows 56 complaints. Home Depot lets them prospect in their store and supports them I guess. Bad business for Home Depot. read more

He laid out moving blanket to prevent any debris falling on to my carpet and even had his own work booties for inside home (I normally provide one) and he made sure my AC unit was well cleaned after washing out any debris inside. I called NexGen to service my 10 year old AC and replace the thermostat in my rental house in Sherman Oaks. Justin was assigned to my job at the end of the day -- and he was wonderful. He arrived at 5:00 after what must have been a long, hot and exhausting day, but he went right to work diagnosing and servicing the AC. This wasn't an easy job, as the AC is located on the roof of the house. He gave me options for work that could be done to improve the efficiency of the unit, which I appreciated. When he was done with the AC, he showed me a couple of different thermostats - fortunately, one of them worked for my location. Justin clearly takes pride in his work. He was efficient, knowledgeable, personable and professional. Most important, he did a great job. NexGen is a super reliable company. My upstairs A/C went down for multiple reasons. I contacted NexGen on Saturday after hours, and they put me on the schedule for Monday at the earliest... All in all they had to make THREE TRIPS on the same day to get me up and running. Thanks to BRIAN, who went beyond the call to duty, I got a new electrical supply to my A/C unit, and a proper diagnosis to the problem... It was not an easy service call, but he stuck with it. My problem with them started when I decided I did not want to have a membership with them and I cancelled by phone and they continued to charge me. I called again and they convinced me to continue because of some maintenance they offered as part of the membership. The day before they cancelled. I tried again. This time they never cancelled and just didn't show up. I have now told them I want to cancel my membership and they should refund me the amount I paid because they have never performed the service. I really can't tell if they collect membership fees and keep putting off doing the service in a scammy way or if they are legit. I will report how this ends. read more
