    Chicken Picatta
    Von M.

Very good food. Excellent attentive service. AMAZING televisions throughout. Updates from prior establishment Moosehead is wonderful. Great interior. Great bar. It is very loud in here. Chicken piccata, smash burger, chicken Caesar wrap, fries all very , very good. Burger toppings were perfect. Wrap was perfect temperature evenly distributed ingredients with crushed garlic croutons. It was like having light, golden, crispy crumbs strewn throughout the wrap. The fries were your classic case of great, homemade, bar fries. Not greasy, overly crunchy, or undercooked. The Buffalo dipping sauce was unique. It hit the palette as regular buffalo, but had a surprisingly sweet aftertaste. I can't definitively say if it's good or bad. The chicken piccata dish was served with bucatini while angel hair would have been preferred with a smaller circumference for the light sauce. Overall, nice small bar experience. Will be back.

We sat on the front patio, ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner...it was hard to pass on dessert but our meals were fabulous and filling. The shrimp tostado was bold, grilled and mashed full of flavor, it was hard to believe it wasn't authentic. Next up, the olive tapenade was the perfect blend of salty and brine, especially on house made focaccia with oodles of butter! The cod dish with a one of my favorites, I order it often and well tonight I kept it consistent. The cod is cooked perfectly, it's firm, light and full of buttery lobster flavor, thanks to the lobster burblanc. The chicken pasta dish was also delicious, not too bold, but full of comforting flavor. Our server Nestor was friendly, quick, accommodating and full of helpful tips. We will be back again, the specials always sell out quickly, the menu is fresh and well the staff are pretty great too.

They both told me, "We don't care," but the owner clearly did. The food was very good. The crème brûlée was delicious, with a rich, creamy custard and a unique deconstructed presentation with phyllo dough. Unfortunately, the owner's reaction overshadowed what could have been a great dining experience. In my opinion, she should let her husband handle the front of the house. FYI DONT ADD SHRIMP TO YOUR "lobster roll"

Atmosphere was a wood, rustic, whiskey barrel feel and the food was great. Came back this year, and it was probably the most brutal restaurant experience I've had in a while. So Char is now called Avo Mexican, but they didn't change the atmosphere to replicate a Mexican place. It's still whiskey themed- with signs slapped on the old logo. They still have some of the old menu items from Char- which is so confusing too. When we walked in I asked the host if the bar was open seating. He said "oh I don't know" and walked away. We just sat at the bar since he didn't come back. We asked the Bartender what happened to Char and he said the owners wanted a rebrand. But it looked like a whiskey bar still....they didn't rebrand anything. I got a marg and my guy asked for a Mexican beer they used to have. Bartender said we haven't had that in a year. So they got rid of all their Mexican beers....? Even though they are now a Mexican place? So he ended up getting a Coors Light. My Marg lacked any sweetness or Agave. It was tequila and lime juice- poor bartender was struggling with 4 bar guests. It was kinda sad. I got a taco salad and my guy got a burger. He used to get the burger with fries, but now that it's Mexican, they only have chips. We had chips and guac for an app, so that was super annoying. Fries used to be really good. And who wants a burger without fries? Place wasn't busy, but our food took 35 minutes. Bartender kept apologizing and saying the kitchen was slammed. It clearly wasn't, I'm sure the cooks were adjusting to a new menu. Food was okay. Used to be really good, but I wouldn't recommend anymore. I guess they close at 8pm some days, because around 7:40 when we just had gotten our food, the bartender said it's last call. We were kinda laughing that they did a last call during normal dinner hours. My fiancé was considering getting another beer after dinner, but I guess they were closing...so weird. I've never seen a place close at peak dinner hours. No idea why they rebranded it. Confusing signage, food is not good anymore, drinks are bad, atmosphere doesn't make sense, menu is lackluster, service and kitchen are lacking, hours are bad. Sucks to write this, but I 100% will not be returning.

It was executed like somebody who had no training on the cut. It had been fried so long there was zero tenderness and no fat remaining. The chew and like the driest beef jerky. The sauce wasn't bad but it was absolute shit on a plate. Even the pickled onions were done wrong. Main Dish 2 of 5 The meal didn't get better with the lamb shank which was absolutely drenched in raw garlic. While the meat fell off the bone, it was poorly executed in flavor unless less you planned to fight off a vampire later that evening . I wish I could say how the demiglasse tasted over the shank but all I could taste was garlic. Pulled three large spoonfuls out. Smash burger had zero flavor. Was supposed to have thousand island dressing and cooked onion which were non existent. Fries were not fresh cut since the day they were frozen, but said they were on the menu, were well seasoned. I've had the burger here before and it was great so they definitely changed it. Service - 2 of 5. never even noticed we barely touched our apps or dinner, said no to a box and just took it away(well it wasn't McDonald's so I ate the burger). Its hard to get better at something when your server doesn't take pride in the restaurant. May as well been TGIF Fridays. $150 later. Hope this was just a one off experience else it's going to be difficult to survive.

It was a tortilla with small bites of meat and the other condiments didn't even cover the tortilla. Even throwing some shredded lettuce on top would have made it look more appetizing. Some chairs / bar stools were wobbly. I hope this place isn't going downhill because service was very friendly and the menu is good with plenty of choices to make even bigger groups happy. The venue can also easily accommodate bigger groups and it's clean and parking is very convenient.

Our meal opened with a salad which included dried crasins, and goat cheese. Personally not my favorite to have a version of fruit on my salad, but my wife really liked it. The pulled pork sandwich was exceptional. The dessert stood out to me, kind of a mix between the cinnamon twists from Taco Bell and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Light, airy, crispy, while not being overly sweet. Paired with the cream cheese dipping sauce this could be very addictive. Two things that made this place stand out for me came from growing up in Western New York, and finding things that can not always be found outside the 716, good chicken wings and Labatt Blue on draft. The wings were "smoke-a-fried," smoked and then fried. What they had that set these apart as the best wings I've had in Cleveland is the right amount of crispness on the outside, while still having a juicy inside. The BBQ and Garlic Parm were my two favorites. Plus being able to wash it down with a Labatt Blue made it all the better. Drink wise they had a nice craft beer selection, specializing mostly on Ohio based craft beers. They had a nice list of seasonal cocktails, that both my wife and I were pleased with. Lots of live music available, with their Facebook page frequently updated. Good food, good drinks, nice gastropub atmosphere, definitely worth the return trip out to Berea. I will definitely be back when I'm in the mood for some wings.
