Actually a super fire experience I can't lie... Was the perfect day for pho. A bit chilly, some rain, etc... When you walk in your instant greeted with a super comfy kinda home feel inside of the restaurant. Everybody is with their people and everything is set up to where it feels like you're one big family eating in the same space. I went with a partner of mine and the food was excellent. I had no idea what to order so I got the classic #40 Medium Beef Pho. The pho cam out not even 5 minutes after ordering it which was a big plus for me (not a huge a fan of waiting) It was piping hot and so cozy. Extremely flavorful and the chefs were really generous with the portion sizes. I would definitely recommend this spot over the other pho I've tried in the city. Bravo
Pho is one of my favorite dishes, and every time I'm in Chicago, I make it a point to stop here. The pho is fantastic, with a rich, flavorful broth that never disappoints. I also love that they offer a wide variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes. The summer rolls are fresh and delicious, and everything we've tried has been excellent. We always end up ordering a huge spread! There's plenty of seating, and we've never had to wait for a table. The service is fast, and the staff is incredibly friendly, they truly make you feel like family. This is easily one of my go-to spots in Chicago, and I 100% recommend it!
Absolutely amazing service! So incredibly fast and delicious. We got the veggie spring roll which was filled with fresh veggies and the tofu was seasoned perfectly. I also got the veggie pho and it was a huge portion filled with veggies and tofu.
Stopped in to try their Banh mi and it lived up to the hype. Service was fast and friendly. The interior has a lot of seating and is spacious. We ordered pork egg rolls, the chicken Banh mi and beef Banh mi. The pork egg rolls are a must. They are delicious. The Banh mi are packed full of ingredients and the bread is superb. I will be back.
Stopped in cause I was craving fried rice and they did not disappoint! Rice was nice and fluffy and flavored perfectly. The chicken was fried perfectly too and the meat was nice and juicy!! Nice waitresses! Definitely want to come back to try more!! Plenty of seating here with two different sections and very cozy feel!!
Very good but maybe not great. The pho broth is probably the beefiest I've ever had but it seemed to be missing some of the warm spices like star anise, cinnamon, and clove. The serving size was ample and there was a decent amount of beef. The summer roll was just okay. Honestly, if I hadn't seen the shrimp I wouldn't have known it was there. The shrimp itself was virtually flavorless. Service was good. My partner was initially brought the wrong dish and it took a few minutes but there was no hesitation in replacing it. My request for no cilantro was met with no difficulties. Ambiance is bare bones simple but this isn't a fine dining establishment. Points for proximity to the Red Line.

I have been here a few times a month and every time I stop in the place is packed. I like they have over 20 tables inside and I like the vast menu they have to offer. My choices are pho and grilled pork and rice. Service is quick and they occasionally do deliver the food to the wrong table but that is minor problem. they do spray down the tables with Fabuloso which the smell is sometimes overpowering. Other than the smell. The food is great and I will still come back for more. Street parking outside.
My friend and I split a pho and bahn mi. The tofu bahn mi was very reasonable priced and I thought the tofu inside of it was cooked well and plenty flavorful. This was so first time trying vegetarian pho I've tried, and I was initially a bit skeptical. The broth ended up being good on its own but I added a bunch of chili oil/sriracha just because I like things on the spicier end. The restaurant itself has got a homey vibe and the staff were friendly
Service is okay, not super fast. But you're coming here for the food! The pho was so tasty and the broth was sooooo flavorful. It's definitely a hole in the wall, but worth every visit.

I'm hoping to go back again to try their pho, but through this visit, I went with the special bun, which is their rice noodle dish with fish sauce on the side. I was slightly disappointed at how it was a little flavorless, especially the meat and shrimp. My boyfriend got the pork chop with rice and was it too fond of the dish either. The service is extremely fast, however, and this is a great no-frills restaurant
We are definitely coming back here!! My partner and I wanted to eat in this area since we first stopped by a few months ago. After searching google for good restaurants on Argyle, we decided to eat here. I had rice with grilled pork chop and sunshine egg, and my partner had steamed rice noodles with grilled beef and shrimp. We split the spring rolls. First, the portion sizes were on the larger side, which pleasantly surprised us. Second, the spring rolls came out almost immediately, and the rest of the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering! The grilled pork chop was divine - perfectly seasoned and juicy. The freshness of the steamed rice noodles created a wonderful lightness to balance out the beef and shrimp, which were both cooked perfectly. There were so many dishes to choose from which originally seemed daunting, but now that we know you really can't go wrong here, it just means we have to come back again to try more! P.S. You have to order the coconut drink - you drink straight from the coconut and it's so refreshing.
Love their food. Everyone has been nice to us and there's a decent amount of seating. I especially love their rolls and peanut sauce.

Sanitation department please come over. It is extremely dirty, I used napkins to touch the condiment bottles. The plastic flowers and random decorations are deplorable. the best pho I have had in Chicago!!! I love pho and this place has the BEST so far. Its always packed but I never have to wait for a table which I love because I come HUNGRY! Was craving some Pho and stopped by here. We got the egg rolls to start and they were thin, had a nice crunch but a mild flavor. The sweet sauce that came with it helped give it that boost they needed. The Pho was the star of the show. A huge bowl of fresh pho with loads of toppings on the side. The broth was rich in flavor, with a generous portion of thinly sliced meat. It was a cold day I got this and it hit just the spot. The toppings like basil, jalapeño and bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy. The service was quick and the price was fair for the portion. Loved this no-frills Vietnamese restaurant on Argyle! I came with a friend on a very cold and windy day for some pho and it certainly did not disappoint. First off, the menu is gigantic. There's literally hundreds of items on there (all numbered), although upon closer examination, a lot of them are just different permutations of dishes. I got pho with rare beef and meatballs. The broth was super comforting and the noodles had a nice chew to it (the right level of "al dente" for rice noodles). I also thought the beef slices and meatballs tasted great. Prices are pretty fair for Chicago-standards, though maybe a little high by Argyle standards? I didn't mind. Don't expect particularly warm service from the staff, though you can definitely expect speed. Still, by no means are they rude! Now I really want to come back to try more dishes from their menu! Tl;dr a lot of folks' go-to pho spot for good reason. Lots of seating, consistently tasty pho and Vietnamese coffee, and fast and friendly service. ===== Been coming here for so long that I'm surprised I didn't review it already! I've been coming since before their expansion, back when it was just the dimmer front room and utensils were placed precariously on ledges above the tables. I may or may not have accidentally knocked a whole thing of chopsticks onto the ground, so I think the new set up is great! (And sorry to the staff there at the time, heh) They now, deservedly, have a way bigger space and groups large and small can happily slurp away. I've tried different phos and rice noodle soups, and some of the appetizers, but my go-to order here is always the pho (38 or 39). The pho broth here has been my favorite and most reliable in Chicago so far. I was a little disappointed by their bun bo hue and prefer getting that at Pho 888, but it wasn't bad. Spring rolls and other appetizers have all been solid, but the pho is mostly what I keep coming back for. Portions are decent, and I think one pho option has an XL size of that's what you're looking for. They give generous and fresh helpings of bean sprouts, herbs, and jalapeños with every pho order, and I appreciate that water, condiments, napkins, utensils etc are all conveniently self-serve at every table. I also love ordering their coffee! The little guitar spoon brings me joy, and they use a tasty blend of various coffees that always tastes better than the one I make myself, dagnabbit. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and attentive. I appreciate seeing the same folks working there year over year and like to think they recognize me, too (... probably not lol). Ambiance-wise this place is pretty casual and cozy. At all times it's fairly busy and there's a pleasant buzz of conversation. This place is so popular that my poor bro actually showed up once around 3pm and was told they had run out of food entirely. Luckily when he popped by an hour later there was food again, but beware! Everyone loves this place. Anywho, I'll definitely keep coming back, and keep recommending this place. It cracks me up that the name literally means 'Vietnamese restaurant'. Perfect chili oil its so good bc spicy and really kicks!!! Summer roll were refreshing but the way it was rolled was like how we roll it at home. Bun rieu was alright but i added black pepper to elevate my bowl and the hu tieu had good soup. Shrimp rolls were nice i enjoyed. The peanut sauce had a minced meat chunks i liked. read more

i heard that this was the best pho in chicago so i was SUPER excited to try. on a wednesday evening around 7pm, it was pretty full. we got our pho within 5 minutes. honestly, it was a BIT oily, but the broth was very well-filtered. it was pretty good but not as beefy flavored of a broth as i'd like. for the large size, there was a very adequate amount of broth and noodles and meat. overall, it was a good pho, but personally, not outstanding. i do appreciate the quick service though! read more

The location isn't closed! I went here for the first time, and I was a huge fan of the broth. It was light but very flavorful. I got the combination pho but wish I got the bigger one since I still was a little hungry. Granted I was really hungry and had a huge appetite that day. The service was good. They were polite and quick with bringing out the food. The ambiance was okay. It seems a little run down, but it has that authentic vibe and feel to it. read more

Super yummy and great for warm weather. Would highly recommend the grilled beef spring rolls that are posted in the wall. The place gets packed so plan to wait a little bit. Despite the great food, service was a little slow and the bill was higher than expected. We got 3 phos/bowls ($17-$18 each) 2 plates of spring rolls ($6-$9 each), banh mi ($10), 2 Thai teas ($11 each???) for a total of around $120. So I would ask for the price of drinks and anything else not listed on the menu before ordering just so you know what you're paying! read more

I usually don't get pho because sometimes it hurts my stomach. But let me tell you guys... this bowl of pho was so healing to my soul. I also got their banh mi (not pictured) but I wish it was a bit crispier. I felt like my bahn mi was a little soggy. When people say Argyle street has some of the best pho shops in Chicago, they weren't kidding. There was so many people that day and it's such a good meal when it's super cold out. read more

Hands down the best pho spot in the city. A big hot bowl of pho is perfect on a cold winter day. All their appetizers are very tasty as well. The service is fast and friendly. What a gem - the best pho I've had in Chicago. The chicken pho comes with beef broth but it's insanely rich and flavorful. It's a massive serving. We also got the Banh Xeo, which was amazing. A Vietnamese pancake with shrimp (we opted for no pork). It's Savory and massive- a nice starter. Shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce were also a nice fresh dish. Service was amazing and the place was PACKED! Will deff be back up this way next time indeed a pho fix. read more
