After years of throwing money away patching up our old inefficient system. We decided it was time to pull the trigger on a whole brand new system. Furnace, AC, coils, EAC, UV-C Air sanitizer and humidifier with a 40 gallon hot water tank...the works. Now this is no small purchase so after extensive research I found Nice Home Service's pricing and financing options to be far superior than the competitions. Because of the money I saved by going to Nice I was able to afford a higher quality/more efficient system. On installation day I took the entire day off knowing this was a huge job and it would most likely be an all day affair and possibly run into the early evening. To my surprise the install team showed up promptly at 8am and completed the job by 5pm (very impressive). Not only were they quick, courteous, and knowledgeable but they left my place cleaner than when they arrived. On top of that the installation as was beautiful, clean, and smooth. And I'm living in a house that was built in the late 60s so I know they were not ideal conditions. Now, I'm writing this review about 4 months after the fact because...A) These last few months are an extremely busy time of year for me so I haven't had the time... but more importantly B) I wanted to see how the system was going to hold up and C) I wanted to see how much much money the upgraded system was going to save me on utility bills. Well the system is holding up great (the quietest and most comfortable the house has ever been) and If I compare my last 4 months bills to the previous years bills. I am saving roughly $90-$130 per month. I couldn't be happier with the system performance and savings in both utilities and in the system cost. I would Highly recommend Nice Home Services for any job big or small. I will definitely be using them to convert the fireplace to gas in the very near future. Our current HVAC system in the home we bought was not working as it should. Called and had a guy out to our house within a few hours. Chatted with him as we already knew what needed to be done based off a friend in the business. Looked at various options for what we need picked one and got financed immediately. I decided to keep using them after having some home warranty work done after purchasing my home a few years ago. I decided to purchase the 3x a year HVAC maintenance plan. It offers decent piece of mind knowing my home should be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It's about $130 a year which I find reasonable. They check all the furnace lines for leaks and do a chemical spray of the outdoor ac fan unit. I've also had them clean the furnace unit and put in insulation. I was pleased with the results of both. Their staff is friendly and the work they do is good, but they will try to up sell you with some new product or service on each visit. Do be sure to check amazon or google shopping whenever they try to sell you humidifier filters or anything else similar. They told me a humidifier filter would be $80 each and 2 minutes later on google i found them for $15 each. Overall i'm happy with them, but definitely comparison shop whenever they try to up sell. read more

Since it was a yucky day, he made sure to cover his boots to keep my floors and arpets clean. He performed a thorough inspection of my system, inside and out, and showed me pictures of the various parts, with recommendations for addressing a few issues in my older system. I've never really wanted to write a review more than I want to for NICE Home Services. Being totally honest and blunt I thought that I would be writing a terrible review because I don't think that the start of this could have gone much worse, but in the end it's all for the best, because I had some of the best service that I've ever had. So to start off with the bad/unfortunate: We just recently moved to the area and as part of getting the new home we got a home warranty. I know that home warranties aren't the best, but they cover you in case something breaks. Well we went to turn on the air for the first time and it didn't work, so we get to put it to use. Calling their service line we get put in contact with NICE. It was a week and two days until we could get an appointment. That was annoying, but it's the start of the hot season and things break, so be it. (I believe this is a major downfall of the home warranty realm, it's simply low margin business for companies, so it's not as much of a priority.) Well the day finally comes where we're going to get our AC fixed, yay! So I get a call at 8:30 confirming that I'll have an appointment between 9 and noon, but I'll still get a call 30 minutes before the tech arrives. Alright, that's good, I've got the day off to handle this and getting some furniture delivered, so all is well. It gets to be just before noon and we get a call saying that they're going to be at least another hour. Blah, but again, ok, still plenty of day left. I ended up calling back again 2 hours later to get an update, I mean this is ridiculous. I find out that the tech is on his way to a different site and then will be coming to ours. They didn't know how long, after some conversation I was informed that they had 2 techs call in sick so they were trying to juggle everything. If only they would have told me this first thing in the morning I wouldn't have cared. But as it were we were still waiting. I got the call at 5:30 that the tech was on his way. So we did get service on the day. Now for the good/great: George, the tech was fantastic. He showed up, super personable, really cares about the service that he's performing and giving the customer the best experience possible. He walked me through all the issues (we found out we had 5 leak spots and no coolant.) He stayed until the job was done, which I felt terrible about, it took almost 3 hours (He was at our home until 9 PM) because of all the damage that had been done previously to the valves and because we had the final valve go as he was trying to disconnect his system. He however wouldn't let it get him down. He plugged away and made sure that everything was done the right way. He didn't skip steps and he made sure that I had a working system before he left. Customer service A+. I was so impressed that I signed right up for their Home Maintenance program. So aside from the scheduling snafu, this really was great. I would definitely recommend NICE, I would just like to see a bit better communication up front. I'm trending towards giving them a 5 star rating, but I really think the honest rating accounts for the up front scheduling. read more

First Visit - AC was not working in our townhouse and Nice Home Services was recommended to us by neighbors. A Tech and his apprentice showed up when they said they would and took a look at the system. Before going on the roof I was told the problem was a $300 part. The Tech said he was positive that was the problem. They did not have a ladder to get on the roof, so he lifted his apprentice up and had him do the work. Turns out that was not the problem. Tech had apprentice get some readings which led the Tech to believe it was now the compressor. When asked if he was sure because he hasn't been on the roof to even look at the unit, he stated "Sir, I have been doing this for 15 years". Gave me an estimate of $2,998.00 and I put down a deposit. Second Visit - Different Techs (2) arrive to install the new compressor. After some time, the Tech tells me that two lines are broken and that the entire unit will now need to be replaced. The Tech stated that before he attempted to install the compressor, he checked the coolant levels first and saw that they were low. According to the Tech, he heard a leak and noticed two lines were broken. Because of the broken lines, the entire unit would need to be replaced. I had another company come out for a second opinion. They said they think that the previous Tech went to cut a line to replace the compressor and in the process, broke the two lines that he said were broken. So now, instead of replacing the compressor for $3,000 we have to replace the entire unit for $5,000. Nice Home Services has denied fault in this despite the second opinion. It is unlikely they would have not noticed the broken lines the first time they came out. I now have to spend $5,000 to replace the entire unit instead of $3,000 for the compressor. If this can't be rectified, we may be forced to take this to court. read more

Resulted in the identification of a few improvements and a thorough inspection of the under-insulated attic spaces. On-the-spot quote for a future work request. He also gave me a box of CFL light bulbs and two energy-saving power strips. Worked with Hugh and his apprentice Michael on 03 July 2014. The team quickly performed troubleshooting on a garbage disposal, temperature-pressure relief valve on water heater, and a potential water leak above the ceiling. Replaced the TP valve and fixed disposal in under 30 minutes. read more

This was my 2nd (Extended Service ticket) experience with NICE home services thru my home warranty. I've personally witnessed what seems to be a high turnover of technicians with NICE. But as echoed by other reviews the technicians are always very professional/friendly and the administrative staff in the office is the best. Unfortunately you will not get away from the "Up-Sell", they will try (and some can be very persistent/pushy). I understand its a business, but scare tactics aren't needed when dealing with a customer. In this regard i don't think they are looking out for the customer more than trying to make more money. They have a service manager who can be very pushy/rude and will say work/cleaning is required otherwise they will not move forward. If this happens to you get a 2nd opinion...9 out of 10 times its not needed. With all that being said, one technician (Mike Hudson) and the owner of the business (Craig) has saved this review from being a 1star. Even though in both of my cases it took more than two weeks and 4 different techs (the never send the same/original person out) to properly diagnose and repair/replace the issue, they got it done (in both cases). I thank Mr. Hudson for this as in both cases he had to come out and make the final needed corrections. He would not leave until the job was completed and completed correctly. The Boss/Owner behind the scene did help in facilitating any needed equipment to resolve the issue. Did i have longer wait times...Yes!!! was i miserable...Yes!!! do i think they could've acquired the parts faster...Yes!!! But at the end of the day Mr. Hudson made me feel as if my issue was important and resolving it was his priority. Would i use NICE Home Services in the Future? Only if i can work directly with Mr. Hudson. Thank you Mr. Mike Hudson & Craig. Its a thankless job at times and I'm not 100% happy with the process, but I'm 100% satisfied with the final outcome. read more

A technician working on behalf of a unit owner in the condo association I manage used a blow torch when soldering a line during a water heater installation directly next to a sprinkler head, setting off the sprinkler system and causing $20,000 worth of damage to a condominium building. Further, they did not admit negligence to their insurance provider, after verbally admitting negligence to me on the date of loss, as communicated in a letter from my insurance company. This caused the association to be responsible for a $5,000 deductible and the claim to count against our record as it could not be subrogated with admitted negligence. I would highly recommend NOT USING this contractor as they are irresponsible, according to emails from the unit owner who hired them initially, incapable of providing quality work, and further lack integrity based on their lack to initially admit negligence and rude/discourteous behavior. After posting this review, NICE Home Services called my employer to complain about my review instead of calling me. After reaching out again and requesting they contact me directly, the owner of the company called me and screamed and cursed at me for approximately 22 minutes. He verbally admitted negligence over the phone, but I am still waiting for something in writing to submit to the association's insurance provider. After updating this review, the owner of the company made a comment alleging I lied about him screaming and cursing at me on the phone. However I recorded our conversation, and he did indeed scream and curse. Specifically, he said "I don't give a f*** about you." Additionally, he has no idea how master policy insurance policies and governing documents work. The Virginia Condominium Act requires the association to file an insurance claim with the master policy and go through subrogation for reimbursement through the liable contractor's insurance. Reimbursement can only be collected if negligence on the part of the contractor is either admitted of proven. I have yet to receive a statement of admitted negligence. Long story short, I have never dealt with a more unprofessional contractor in my nine years as a property manager. read more

I called NICE because my gas fireplace was causing excess soot buildup on the glass. The technician spent 30 minutes and told me the problem was poor ventilation and that I neede to have my chimney re-sleeved to the tune of $2000. I called Cimate Warriors for a second opinion and they quickly identified the problem as a buildup of cobwebs in the chimney vent on the roof. They removed it for the cost of the service call and the fireplace works like a champ. The NICE technician never even checked the vent on the roof when he was here. I would not recommend them, but I would recommend always getting a separate opinion before spending a large amount for repairs. read more

They have no knowledge about what inspections are required, outlets, gas lines. I'm writing a review because I chose this company partially based on their Yelp reviews. We had a delightful experience with their salesperson and felt confident about having an entire new hvac system installed in our home. Installation was a whole different experience. The technicians were polite and nice but at the end of the job- it went downhill. We found part of the installation not up to our standards. We asked the technician to fix it and he was reluctant to do so telling us it would take him hours. We told him he could do it then or come back tomorrow, but it needed to be fixed. He did fix it, in about 45 minutes. When I asked him to explain to me how the new "hi-tech" thermostat worked, he handed me the instruction booklet and told me he didn't know how it worked. This morning, we woke up to a cold house and an hvac not running although the thermostat says it is heating. I called the company and was told that they would have someone out this afternoon. I will update when things get worked out, but sadly it hasn't been a great start. Update- the company sent out their area manager who worked on the unit for a long time and discovered there was something wrong with the thermostat. He installed a temporary so that we would have heat for the holiday. He returned two days later and installed the new thermostat and helped me to set up all the awesome features it provides. I'm confidant going forward with the service contact this year. If the second technician, Freddy, had been here for the install, I am sure there company would have received a 5 star review. read more

Absolute WORST experience I've ever had with any contractor (and I've dealt with MANY contractors over the years). First, I called and scheduled an appointment with them in which case, THEY gave me a window of 12-5 the following day. So I took a half day off from work only to sit at home waiting for a tech who NEVER SHOWED UP and NEVER CALLED to let me know!!!! What the heck!!! Who does that? It wasn't until AFTER I ripped 'em on Angie's List that they called back wanting a second chance to get it right. So, okay... I rescheduled for the weekend. And, yes, they showed up this time. But... It wasn't long before I figured out on my own that a) the tech they sent was highly incompetent and b) he was really only there to try and sell me a brand new HVAC system. During his visit I counted 5 times that he mentioned the 0% financing for 12 months and the scare tactics such as mold, dust, etc, that's a health hazard and can cause all these illnesses, etc. While he DID do some diagnostics, all he wanted to talk about was the 0% financing for 12 months and 'this is a no brainer, right'? Then he quotes me $12,000 for a new system!!!! Are you FREAGIN kidding me?!?!? That's outrageous. And... That's NOT what I called for. I called to have my system FIXED at least for the time being. But that's not the end of the story... The tech was able to fix my A/C problem but later in the day when I tried using the heat, I got nothing... So we scheduled ANOTHER appointment for 2 days later. Same tech, same scare tactics, and same sales pitch. In addition, he could not diagnose where the problem was. Instead, he wanted to replace parts in the heat pump starting with the defrost board and if that didn't work, then it's probably the relay switch, and if that didn't work... Wow! Really? And the price for the defrost board alone was $958 and it goes up from there. Finally, I asked the (incompetent little) tech to close it up and I'll think about what I want to do. What I ended up doing was calling another company who diagnosed the problem to be the actual thermostat, changed it out, got the A/C and heat running perfect and only charged me $320. Additionally, he gave me a more honest and reasonable quote of $5,500 for a replacement system. We all know the saying... "Buyer be ware". Consider yourself warned. read more

I won't recommend this company to anyone based on my recent experience. We received terrible service recently from Nice Home Services. Here is our story: Our home warranty sent our request to Nice Home Services three weeks ago. They came to checked it out right away and charged us $100 deductible right after the visit, claiming that the fix can only be scheduled and performed after we paid for the deductibles. Then, of course, after we paid, they never showed up for our subsequent service appointments. Our appointments have been rescheduled three times so far. Ervery time before the first two appoinments, they called us to inform they cannot show up. And, at the third appointment, they did not even called and just did not show up! I am so frustrated with their service at this point. I wasted so many time just in dealing with them on the phone and had taken multiple days off so that I can be at home for their services. We plan to get the refund of our deductibles and not deal with this company any more. What I am not sure is how long it will take for us to get the refund... To sum up, I won't recommend this company to anyone. read more

My home warranty company now told me that Nice home services reached out to them saying they don't want do the service anymore, apparently after I wrote a negative review. So now I have to have another company come out, do the diagnostic, and essentially start from scratch. On top of that, the parts that were taken out from my AC by the service tech from Nice now have to be re-installed as they shouldn't have been taken out to begin with. Do not use this company under any circumstance. Their service techs are not capable, they're only there to up-sell,and on top of that they needed "payback" because I was honest and wrote a poor Yelp review since I wasn't satisfied. Two pars to this review - First, the onsite manager who oversaw the job was great, talked us through the options, did great work installing a new AC/Heat Pump unit (inside and out), and was very nice; and the work was done well. Second part, in-house management support was not great. First, I had a hard time getting a straight answer on the costs and options. Then (work was done in Sept), it took four months to schedule an inspection, was told I had it and then inspector never showed. Turned out that I took the full day off work to be here and NICE had not scheduled the inspection. I then found out through other channels that I could schedule it myself, had the inspector out and found out that no inspection was required!! Long story short, they apparently get permits for all the work they do, regardless of whether it is required or not - to give customers assurance everything was done correctly. Normally I would be thrilled by this, as it's part of their service and not an extra cost, but they never told us that it was not required, and I ended up having to take two days off work to get an inspection that was not needed, again, after trying to set it up for over four months. So - their installers are very good, their in-house staff really needs improvement. read more

My interactions with their VP of Client Relations, Cherie, were absolutely horrible. She essentially told me that if I don't like waiting then I should go to another company, which I couldn't do because I was working with my home warranty company to get the repair done. 1st off im not one to do these reviews but i hope that it saves someone else a from having a bad experience. i had an ac / heating unit installed about 2 years ago now. ( nothing but problems since day 1!) took them a little over 14 hours to install the unit! the installer had to call for backup because his helper quit on him and took his truck. removed the insulation in the ducts and never reinstalled it. did not build a pad under the unit , just sat it there and stuffed rocks around it. the liquid tight is pulled off the house because it waas cut to short.... have had them back to my house 3 times now and theres never a problem found! but they sure wanna offer you a "chem cleaning" or a montly service fee... pretty sure this is gonna turn into a legal matter..we are not rich people and it took all we had to have this unit installed ..just wish i would of chosen a better company !save yourselves the trouble people call someone else read more

Overcharged me on a thermostat that was covered under warranty. Did crappy install job, had to come out a 2nd time. 2nd time, tech tried to charge me a 2nd service visit to fix their horrible installation job. Then tried to upsell me. No thank you. I am getting rid of my home warranty because of this provider. No apology from the company for the inconveince or offer to refund some of the labor costs for the installation. read more

He should have completed the work on the two units on the first day but he did not. While I appreciate the response Craig, I'm not sure if you read my review. I did not call to schedule an off hours appointment. I called in the morning to schedule the next available appointment during regular business hours. Unfortunately, the response your customer service rep gave me was there were no available appointments within 5 business days unless I was willing to pay $250 dollars. While the annual service plan does include free service calls your customer service rep informed me there would still be a charge only slightly less than $250 for your "top notch" service team to repair my furnace in sub freezing temperatures, that's on top of a $300 annual service plan renewal fee. It looks like your "boiler plate" response is a bit misinformed. While I have no problem speaking with you privately, I do feel it's necessary to inform others publicly about my less than positive experience so that they may make the most informed decision. Once again, HVAC service and repair companies are a plenty in the Washington Metro area and the service you offer is not cheap so people should have the right to know if the company they choose is the best possible choice. Two years ago I though Nice Home Services was the absolute best in HVAC service and their professionalism. They really talked a good game regarding their experience, masters in their craft and outstanding customer service. So far I can honestly say that their technicians are professional and are very good at what they do. I have a problem with the company reneging two years later on the service options initially agreed upon such as seasonal service visits at no charge on Saturdays. I have a 10-year contract with them. This is what was agreed upon from the very beginning and now two years later they are trying to telling me that Saturday are set aside for "OTHER" customers (so what the h-ll am I to them now). However, I can pay a $89 fee (each visit) for Saturday service visits moving forward. The agreement regarding Saturday services from the start was because of my job commitment and the weekend/Saturday would be the only time available for serving my new unit and this has not changed for me. While writing this review I just received a callback from NICE telling me they have put me on their schedule for service Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018 at no additional charge and I will have to pay the $89 for future servicing on Saturdays. I told her that this is unacceptable and to have a manager call me TODAY with my contract in hand, with the Rep that sold me on their product & service and wrote up the contract. I was hoping that we would reach a peaceful resolution during this call so I will wait. I will update this once this matter has been resolved. read more

Unfortunately, Craig, I called your company in February (February 12, 2015 at 3:15 PM to be exact) in regards to your response and was told that I would receive a refund. I reviewed my bank account, and I never received the refund that I was promised. I just spoke with one of your customer service managers (Sharice, I believe - I apologize if the spelling is incorrect), and she informed me that the refund had "expired" because I did not accept it. I was never informed that I needed to accept anything--any reasonable person or organization would consider me calling and asking for the refund to be "accepting" the refund. Wow! These folks are amazing! i simply can't say enough about the positive experience I had with the NICE team this weekend. Sheri was delightful and got me in for same-day service in an emergency with our furnace. Mike came over that afternoon and took his time to investigate our situation. He was thorough and treated me with total respect. He walked me through the situation and made sure I had all my questions answered. Then Dominic showed up on time on a Saturday morning. He explained all of my options and helped me focus on saving money while also getting our very serious issue addressed. Dominic even entertained my 6 year old with his juggling! Quinn and Ted arrived on time and stayed until the heat was back on. They worked their tails off to make sure everything was perfect. I am truly grateful for their service. Robert and Freddie have also been helpful. Everyone at this company is top-notch. The management team must be doing a LOT right at NICE to have such amazing people working for them. We're new to the area with a recently purchased 11 year old condo. Right after we moved in, we used the home warranty and they engaged NICE for a water leak. Kenny came out and determined it was most probably a common area roof leak and because he didn't actually do any work, he got the okay to charge a lesser amount than the warranty co-pay. I was impressed with that, so when it was time to start having real work done, I bought an Angie's List deal with them for HVAC maintenance and a hot water & plumbing maintenance. This required an HVAC tech (Mike) and a plumber (Kenny again). Both were (1) very knowledgeable, (2) explained how things were supposed to work and what was going on with our equipment, (3) gave options for repairs, and (4) were professional yet friendly. I was very impressed. In the end, I purchased a new hot water heater with a close-in install appointment, scheduled a dryer vent clean out also with a close in appointment , and purchased a maintenance agreement to keep the HVAC and hot water heater 'tuned up'. In the Fall I'll have them come out to tune up the gas fireplace which is wonkier than any one I've ever had before. Any company that can keep competent technicians has to be doing something right! I know I won't always get Kenny or Mike when I use NICE, but I have a feeling that their other technicians are also good and I plan on having NICE as my plumbing and HVAC go-to company. I had two men from your company come to clean and inspect our gas fireplaces this week and they performed their job wonderfully! They were prompt, respectful, and very knowledgeable. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I have a big problem with one thing: one fireplace needed a new remote receiver/transmitter because our old one was destroyed by battery acid. The price I paid for the new Robert H. Peterson Co. VR-1A kit, including installation, was $490.00. The kit itself has a regular price of $104.00 but is sold online, and in stock, for $86.70. The time to install it was less than 10 minutes. HOW can your company justify charging $490 for an item that costs less than $100 and takes less than 10 minutes to install?
