please don't bring your animals/pets here if you really care for them ... the "doctor" isn't very much help at all barley even examine my pet an I had to pay 2 times for them to do same thing ... just gave me antibiotics and steroids for my dog and told me to come back and call back in a couple days to see if it's worse or not .... the pills did help but as soon as he stops taking them it just comes right back ... there at a loss an can't understand why my dog is still dealing with this after 3 months 2 visits an over 300$ spent on "exams" an pills ... I'm very disappointed in this vet I was told good things which which was not true , receptionist got an attitude with me when I tryed to express my issues with my service politely... but continued to say theres nothing else they can do but keep giving him pills ... just gonna kill my dogs kidney issues or even failure from what I've been told ... my 3 months later my dog is back to same issues as before .... Was very happy with our first time visit here. Everyone was friendly and efficient minus one girl at the desk. She seemed snotty when I walked up and asked my name. Megan made that all better though. She was super friendly and very professional. She will go far with that attitude, the other girl (don't know her name, other than a tattoo on her chest) she won't get far in life with that poor demeanor. I hear McDonald's is hiring. Still love this Vet. Our pup has had a run of random ailments and issues, and I am so glad I have Nichols to help us through. The prices are reasonable (his flea and heartworm preventative are cheaper here than online) and the two surgeries he's had went extremely well, and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Almost every time we've gone in, we've got a different doctor, but they've all been great with Clyde and efficient but thorough. This last time, when I called ahead they warned that there may be a wait as they were shortstaffed, but I know they did a great job keeping everyone moving along. (it was about an hour total, in and out, for a minor puncture wound from a dog bite-no stitches) They do a great job of letting me know what I can do at home to treat him (allergies, of course) and don't seem too concerned with making me buy medication from them (aside from some nominally priced antibiotics when necessary) They took time at 'shot time' to go over his activities and recommend an additional bordatella vax halfway through the year (Which I had read was a good idea for dogs that go to dog parks/daycare/kennels, like mine) so I appreciate their attention to this detail. I've never seen the team members be anything but welcoming and accomodating, even when it seems like they've been very busy. read more

I could give zero stars! Absolutely worst place for pets. I was treated absolutely so horribly from the moment I walked in. The vet that seen my dog (Krista Stone) was SO incredibly rude and did not care to listen to anything I had to say about what was wrong or with my dogs history and her negligence and ignorance nearly KILLED my dog. My dog almost SUFFOCATED to death because she was "so busy" to take the time so instead I get a completely wrong diagnosis that makes no sense. My dog was suffering and couldn't breathe and she just did not want to help. She should not even be working with animals if she doesn't care for them to get better and let's them leave to just die. The doctors are great. However it is impossible to get through on the phone And/or takes takes a month to get an appointment. Please hire more people and more phone lines. She had visited 3 other vets, got hurt at one due to rough handling, was denied by one, was returned early by another. I shopped around and talked to friends and family, Nichols was mentioned often, so we went there. Beware of hidden charges here! I took my pet in for a infection at a cost of over a hundred dollars and was told to just bring in a urine sample and drop it off to be tested after her meds were complete, thinking that it was part of the same treatment I took it back to be tested, got there explaining why and what was going on was ask to wait, waited 45 min they came out said she was clear and that no further meds were needed, I said cool started to leave and was told that it would be $40.00, we'll not be going back to this place because of this, BEWARE OF HIDDEN FEES AND LONG WAITS!! read more

I really enjoy Nichols Vet! Thankfully I've only had to take my cat a couple of times, and I was pleased each time. My only complaints would be the not-so-friendly receptionist and the doctor doesn't spend as much time with the pet as I would have liked. Our appointment did feel a little rushed. Don't let the tiny old cinder block building deter you! I would recommend this place to anyone in search of a vet at a reasonable rate. Dr. Karalambo (Dr. K) is wonderful-- she helped save my 15-year-old cat who had a urinary blockage, which I can't thank her enough for! Brenna, who is a vet-tech, is also great, and a close friend of the family. The staff here were nothing but helpful and supportive when we had to put my other cat to sleep a couple months ago, which we were not expecting to do. They even sent my family a card in the mail. I agree, do not let the looks of the building and location deter you. The staff are great and the prices are even better. I am a cat owner and do not get my cats shots as they are indoor cats. This is the only vet I know off that will do a declaw or sterilization without making you spend hundreds of dollars on shots. read more

My husband and I had to have our 13 year old Riley put down on Friday. I haven't been to Nichols in many years. Riley was in really bad shape, i.e., lethargic, not eating or drinking. Our current vet could not see us that day. So I took him to Nichols as an emergency. They took care of us very quickly. As it turned out after x-rays and blood work, Riley was very sick. Everyone in the office was so compassionate! We chose to have him put down because he wasn't going to get any better. They gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. We were heartbroken! Every single person from the front desk to the doctor to the people doing the x-rays and blood work, could not have been any more compassionate! read more

The other reviews are just about spot on regarding the one "curtly tempered" receptionist to the creepy cinder block building and the wait times. I do find this vet to be one of the most reasonably priced anywhere in Michigan! They will not push you to buy unnecessary vaccines - depending on the lifestyle of each family!-and have always worked with our families budget. That being said, I took the time to research my animals real needs. My dog gets all shots/heartworm test and "chews" as recommended. My cat spayed/declawed and "kitten" vaccinations, hasn't had the need of a vet in the last 11 years- I attribute this to the exceptional care she received as a kitten at this vet. The office has, in the past, ordered special diet/allergy food's for my pets at a lowered value than nearby pet stores. That is convenient. Their euthanasia prices/packages are higher-priced and meager compared to other vets nearby. Emergency/surgery prices cannot be beat! read more

I switched to Nichols last year, (a friend referred me) after we got a new kitten. The staff has always been pleasant. The building is a no frills, cinder block structure, however it's neat and clean inside. My cat, and now dog, have always been well cared for and the prices are reasonable. read more

Dr. Anderson is really starting to irk my whole family. My grandpa's dog had diabetes. We love and care about the dog and want her to be healthy. Every time we go in we are treated like animal abusers by this vet. The dog has been under a lot of stress, one of her owners died, our other dog died of old age, and my grandpa has been in & out of the hospital for surgeries. Every time we take the dog in its a ton of money and the vet wants her back in two weeks. She wasn't eating right and we were treated like horrible pet owners and given the third degree when all we've done is what the vet has asked of us! Even when my grandpa was very sick I was still made sure I kept an eye on the dog and took care of her. The vet consistently calls us outside of business hours as late as 10 pm, even though she knows my grandpa is sick. He took the dog again yesterday and once again was treated poorly! He has a very horse voice as he had surgery dealing with his throat and she said "you have a virus you need to wear a mask!" He told her it was from surgery and she seemed like she didn't believe him. Horrible. The other vet is kind and professional and we have been coming here for YEARS, brought all of our family pets here, but I think it's time to find someone new. read more

We've been bringing our dog here for three and a half years and the staff is fantastic. My only complaint is the wait time to be seen. It is ridiculous, even with an appointment. Time after time, we don't get called back to a room for at least fifteen minutes past the appointment time and then we sit in the room for another fifteen minutes waiting for the doctor. read more

Waited for an 1 and 45 minutes to be seen. Doctor scheduling was not appropriate to meet the needs of the patients. Not only that, they continued to take other pets in ahead of us that not only didn't have an appointment, but came in AFTER us. I'm 3rd generation Nichol's client. We have been going to Nichols Vet for around 30 years. Mostly seeing Dr. Bilbrey, whom we love, but in an emergency I've found all the vets are knowledgeable and professional. The vet techs, X-ray, surgery techs are all super and are always kind and proficient handling my dogs. Never had a problem with any of the girls at the front desk. They always seem to be able to quickly adjust for emergency situations. read more

Nichols used to be the best veterinary clinic. Their prices were very competitive. Their staff was knowledgeable and kind, and their facilities were clean. I went about 4 months ago. The facility was not clean, there was a strong odor of urine. I already paid for the procedure so it was a bit too late to walk out, I got my cats teeth cleaned. When I took her seven years ago she received pain medication and antibiotics and their staff were so kind. Last time the staff was kind and knowledgeable, this time the office was very unorganized. The left-hand did not know what the right hand was doing. The job they did on her teeth was decent. But because of the staff's confusion and the cleanliness, and the spike in price will not ever come again. Which is sad because they lost a customer of many years. read more

I cannot say more about the extraordinary care my dog received it took me awhile to give this review because I wanted to take my time and be thorough. The vet was beyond patient she explained everything to me I was afraid my dog would lose her life, when I had a conversation with the vet I felt at ease I didn't care about the cost I cared about my dog and so did my vet there was an issue my dog is very unfriendly and can be aggressive but they still show her the utmost care and we're patient with her, I had no worries about leaving her there overnight after her much-needed surgery that indeed turned out well and saved her life I cannot express how indebted I am to this Veterinary Clinic I found them in an emergency situation but I am so happy I took a chance and so will you I watched as they interactive with other patients who brought their animals they were friendly and sweet and the Animal love them you could tell, you can't fool animals they know people and they love these people. My dog name is Hannah she's a large dog she's a Newfoundland so she's a lot to handle but again they were very patient and I really enjoyed the service so anybody out there who needs a new veterinary clinic this is the place to go I gave five stars easily if I could I would give six. I have been coming to Nichols for many years and as a certified behavior specialist for dogs I recommended it to many, many people for their pets even longer. It wasn't till I had my own fur baby thru marriage(2008) that I have become to love them even more. We were never disappointed after leaving any visit be it either a sick or well visit. Nichols does not try to sell you "crap" that is unnecessary too. We had to put our beloved Golden Retriever down last October and they were unbelievably kind and compassionate to our feelings and in giving us our last minutes alone before having to euthanize him. I always gave our pet his yearly shots that I could order online with Drs Foster and Smith minus the Rabies and other items that required a Vet to do and was never judged by them. All of the Doctors and staff are top notch and very friendly. I had taken my animals to other Vets in the past, before becoming a behavior specialist in 2000, but will always keep going to Nichols after experiencing them first hand. Now we have a new "baby" a Great Pyrenees that is their new patient when necessary. read more

If I could've given zero stars I would!!! Years ago they wanted to put my dog to sleep because he was sick. They said he swallowed parts of a blanket. He was pooping blood and lethargic. We took him somewheres else. We were not giving up on him. It was his FOOD making him sick!! This was 2012. He is healthy as can be!! We give them another try for some stupid reason. We had him neutered, and told them we needed ALL shots!! All requirements for boarding!! We are getting married tomorrow and we need everything set for him! We told them 3 times he was going to be boarded!! We got to the boarding place, and they had ALL the shots listed except the required one we asked for!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! We don't have time to deal with this!! We are not the vet, THEY are!! THEY knew what we needed!!! So we had to leave with the dog, go back to the vet... get CHARGED for their error!!! Never ever trust this place to be reliable or caring. My temper came out, but I have NO regrets for it!!! I got my dogs records and happily said my goodbyes!!! I have been going to this vet for 20 years. And I agree don't let the building deter your visit. For years we had seen Dr. Jones but understand she moved on to the zoo. However, she was fabulous and very carring and understanding when we eventually had to put down our family beagle. My husband had been unemployed for quite awhile and we were struggling with money. They provided options and told us prices right up front (i.e. if we do this blood test it will cost this amount of money, etc). We had another beagle at the time which was just put down this year and we have a lab. We take them all to Nichols. I live three houses down from a major street and there is a beautiful Veterinarian office at the corner. Everytime I have called regarding care for an animal their prices are ridiculous - I guess to pay for the building. In addition, Nichols accepts walk-ins most days. You may have to wait a bit as a walk in but it is great to know you don't always need to plan the sickness. read more
