I tried this place on my lunch break and got a burger and the lemon chicken soup. The soup was pretty good, an acquired taste in my opinion. The burger was delicious and the portion size was really big, my only complaint would be that I requested jalapeños and they gave me pickles after charging me extra for the jalapeño. Nevertheless I returned after hearing many good things about their salads and I was not disappointed. This salad was delicious -- fresh lettuce, tasty chicken, yummy peppers. Found this place via Yelp, having recently moved to the area from out of state we were keen to locate a good "go to for breakfast". We found it! Ordered the Egg Sandwich and my wife had the Nicks Omelet. We both had coffee. We sat on the outdoor patio, as inside was a little jammed, it was a beautiful morning out there. Coffee was quickly served up and flowed freely for our entire visit. Breakfast arrived within 10 minutes and was HUGE....especially the wife's omelet! Home away from home! Nicks has been a staple in our weekend routine since we moved to Leander last year. The servers are consistently sweet and accommodating, Nick the owner is always there to greet the guests and the food never disappoints. My friends and I have been coming to Nick's since it opens. The restaurant is very clean and it's not loud like many of the others in the area. There are soft booths and window shades that dampen the sound. Wait staff are super nice and the kitchen staff are quick getting your food made and out. With 'breakfast' in a restaurant name one would expect a very good breakfast. That's what I got. I ordered the Breakfast Plate #2, which came with four pieces of well cooked thick sliced bacon. The eggs were cooked as I ordered and the toast was sourdough. While my hashbrowns were hot and crispy, the flavor seemed a bit flat. One of my dining companions loved the hash browns that came with his hamburger steak breakfast, so I'm guessing my taste buds may have been off. All in all, very good food. The service was prompt, our food came out hot, and we never had to ask for more coffee. I was expecting more of a diner, but the decor was typical small restaurant. This is a wonderful café in Leander. I've enjoyed breakfasts and lunch here, both in restaurant and to-go. Biscuits and gravy come with a large serving of gravy (yay!). Eggs have been cooked just right, French toast cooked to perfection. The BLT has a generous serving of bacon and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Finally, the baklava is delicious! Ten out of ten! Lisa is a very sweet and professional server. I think she is a newer member of the team as I had not met her before yesterday. It was very good to see that many of the same servers are still there and have been from the beginning. I went at the perfect time in between breakfast and lunch. It happened to be very convenient as my doctor is in the same shopping center, and I had a fasting lab draw so came over for coffee and a late breakfast afterwards. Nick has good seating capacity, especially considering it is a breakfast and lunch restaurant. When he is not back in the kitchen Nick is out and about. I saw him talking with customers that were obviously routine, as well as checking on how customer meals were tasting to them. Up until 11 AM Nick has a $9.99 breakfast menu-kind of like an early bird special. Although I was only about three minutes away from 11 AM I requested to order off that menu and they were happy to accommodate. There are numerous choices and combinations that include just about everything on the regular breakfast menu perhaps in a bit of a smaller quantity. The breakfast I ordered was perfect for me. One egg over easy, one strip of bacon and one plump sausage, hashbrowns, and rye toast. To be quite honest, I could not even finish all of that! My breakfast arrived within minutes of ordering it. It was hot and fresh- I know from being a short order cook in my own home that if you're well organized, it's not difficult to get breakfast out fairly quickly. I also treated myself to a mocha extra hot. When it was delivered, Lisa advised if I needed a warm-up, she'd be happy to microwave it for me as sometimes their machine is just not as hot as customers want. I didn't find that necessary. I did feel that the mocha was not very sweet- I could've added sweetener or sugar along with additional creams that are always kept on the table. My hashbrowns were crispy and once I started eating them, it was hard to stop. My Overeasy Egg was done to perfection and generally, they do not salt and pepper as they allow you to do it at the table since it's such a preference thing among egg eaters. There's quite a mix of clientele, but it's quite evident that seniors love this place, including myself!! The link sausage was plump and juicy and quite delicious-a far cry from the links that are overdone and quite dry. The toast comes buttered, but you can always ask for more and they give you a couple of individual jellies. I always choose rye toast, but they have wheat and white available as well. I was not rushed at all and felt very comfortable, even though I was dining by myself. Lisa came by to check on me frequently enough to meet my needs. When she delivered the check, she told me there was no hurry whatsoever to take my time and that she would be my cashier. I found myself dining for about $20 including tax and tip. In today's economy, I feel like that's a steal!!!! Everyone there is so friendly, the food is great-- as is the atmosphere. They have specials every day and they always have new items listed on the whiteboard that's out by the door. I'll have to return and do a full review on lunch, but please be aware you can get either during their business hours, which end at 3 PM. Nick's is one of our go-to neighborhood breakfast/brunch spots. We were sad to see Guy's Italian restaurant go bye-bye, but Nick's is a great replacement for not only breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I usually order one of their skillets, and I always take home half of it for either lunch or for breakfast for dinner. We also ordered the corned beef hash, and it arrived with plenty of corned beef, and you could easily bring half home. I like that they also offer cafe lattes and cappuccino coffee options. They do have inexpensive breakfast options if you are going light. Every time we visit, we are always greeted as regulars (we are not), and service is always friendly and professional. Our waitress (I didn't catch her name, but she had several piercings) was absolutely fabulous--attentive, friendly, and made the experience that much better. Full 5 stars for her! My husband ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet and enjoyed it. I had the Eggs Benedict with a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were good, but unfortunately the Eggs Benedict missed the mark. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor at all--it tasted like it hadn't been seasoned, and I'm not sure if it wasn't made from scratch or just prepared without salt. First, I always appreciate the option for outdoor seating, which this place has. I appreciate that you can order breakfast while they are open. I am a breakfast all day kinda gal. Haha. A great, down-to-earth brunch place in quiet Leander! I managed to make it out here with my BF who had been dying to go since it opened. We came by on a Sunday for a late breakfast, and didn't have to wait too long for a seat even though there was a busy crowd that morning! They offer cappuccinos which is nice, but my cup seemed to hold onto a bitter flavor. The portions are LARGE, so come with an appetite or expect to have a good amount of food leftover. The food was flavorful and delicious overall! I especially liked the crispiness of the hashbrowns. The staff were friendly and attentive as well. We have tried the French Toast, Pancakes, Gyro Omelet, Eggs, Bacon, and Sausage, and were not disappointed in any of them. We have found the service to be excellent, but they do get busy so the servers can get a bit overwhelmed (have a little patience, people!). On one visit, even "Mr. Nick" came out of the kitchen, walked over to our table (other tables, too), and asked how we were doing. A couple of things to be aware of........ 1. When they get busy, parking can be a bit limited, though never not available. You may just have to walk a little further. 2. Depending on what time you get there, there can be a fairly substantial wait for a table. 3. This is a "family" restaurant, so there are kids. Some parents do a great job watching their kids, some not so much. It's a little bit the luck of the draw as to whether you encounter well-behaved children and adults, or whether you are seated near an unruly bunch that were never taught manners, and obviously belong in a barn. read more

After reading reviews saying it got busy, we decided to go early (7am). We're early risers and the place we use to go to opens later so it is nice to have an early rising dine in cafe open. It was a nice surprise to see some familiar faces from another cafe we also visit. We ordered the meat lover skillet and the corn beef omelet. Husband was very satisfied with his skillet, generous portion that came with a choice of side. The omelet was with egg white (optional) that was cooked perfectly. I wasn't thrilled with the thin beef slices, I imagined more chunks of fresh corned beef but it was edible and with a side of French toast. Our first time experience was A+. Service was excellent, the food came out within 10 minutes after ordered, and piping hot. "Adrenaline" was my server and she was a delight. Everyone at Nick's greets you with a smile and wants to ensure you have everything you need for a great meal and wonderful experience. My husband found Nick's Breakfast and Coffee online. We are always excited to try a local place. We LOVE supporting local. We showed up about 1pm this Sunday and were sat immediately by a kind host. The menu has an exceptionally long list of items - this was my first clue. Typically when a restaurant has a large menu they don't have exceptional food. I hate to admit that I was right. My husband ordered the #1 and I ordered a fried egg burger. My husband said he was happy with his meal. He loved the eggs, ham, and sausage. He's not much for hash brown but I am. I dug right into his plate because he had a huge portion of hash brown. I was immediately underwhelmed because there was ZERO flavor. He let me try his eggs and I wasn't floored but they were better than the hash brown! As for my plate, the fried egg burger.... I don't recommend it. The burger, like the hash brown, was completely tasteless. It's like the cooks don't know what seasoning is... or even salt. The toppings for the burger came on the side and my onion just was not ready to be eaten so that made me sad. Maybe if I was starving I'd have thought of this place differently. I will say! This place has great portions. My burger was huge and I had quite a load of fries. My husband and I shared a pancake and this was probably my favorite part of the meal. Loaded up with butter and syrup it was just right. We haven't given up on Nick's! We'll be back and I hope I get something really worth eating next time.
