I don't think we'll be back. It's changed. New cook? Probably. It was great. Went a couple weeks ago. I ordered a reuben. They actually soaked the rye in grease. And the thousand island was on the side. Who does these things? A cook that never made a rueben before. Meanwhile, one table over, a lady was picking stuff out of her pancakes. Really. It came with hash browns which arrived crispy on the outside snd soft in the middle, just like you want them, and choice of toast. Diana was our server today and she was fantastic. Very accommodating, helpful and kind. I came to celebrate my parents birthday/anniversary and they had a great brunch. Second time coming to Nick's... and I received the same great service I got the first time! On this visit I tried one of the M-F $8.99 breakfast specials 1egg, hashbrowns, toast, but since I don't eat pork I added some fruit instead. It came out very quickly and was very tasty. "Adrenaline" was my server and she was a delight. Everyone at Nick's greets you with a smile and wants to ensure you have everything you need for a great meal and wonderful experience. I sat outside this time to enjoy the sunshine and cool breeze. There are a couple nearby trees that provide shade depending on the time of day. And there's also a pretty large umbrella on the patio just in case. I'll return to Nick's for sure. read more

This was a big surprise for a breakfast place. I had a doctor's appointment in the area and to beat traffic left early to sit and have breakfast. When I arrived a few people were seated and two of the staff took care of me. I ordered pork sausage links, scrambled eggs, potato cakes and pancakes. My husband found Nick's Breakfast and Coffee online. We are always excited to try a local place. We LOVE supporting local. We showed up about 1pm this Sunday and were sat immediately by a kind host. The menu has an exceptionally long list of items - this was my first clue. Typically when a restaurant has a large menu they don't have exceptional food. I hate to admit that I was right. My husband ordered the #1 and I ordered a fried egg burger. My husband said he was happy with his meal. He loved the eggs, ham, and sausage. He's not much for hash brown but I am. I dug right into his plate because he had a huge portion of hash brown. I was immediately underwhelmed because there was ZERO flavor. He let me try his eggs and I wasn't floored but they were better than the hash brown! As for my plate, the fried egg burger.... I don't recommend it. The burger, like the hash brown, was completely tasteless. It's like the cooks don't know what seasoning is... or even salt. The toppings for the burger came on the side and my onion just was not ready to be eaten so that made me sad. Maybe if I was starving I'd have thought of this place differently. I will say! This place has great portions. My burger was huge and I had quite a load of fries. My husband and I shared a pancake and this was probably my favorite part of the meal. Loaded up with butter and syrup it was just right. We haven't given up on Nick's! We'll be back and I hope I get something really worth eating next time. We stopped in for breakfast and could not be more pleased with our food and the excellent service. I had their corned beef hash egg Combo plate. I'm now good until dinner. The hash was one of the best I've had with chunks, yes chunks of corned beef, peppers, and onions. I opted for the bed of hash browns instead of grits. My eggs ordered over easy were over easy perfect. Plus one ordered the meat lovers skillet and it was a huge portion quoting her as her breakfast arrived "Could you just bring me a to-go box please"? Yes, half of the skillet is in the fridge. Service was fabulous from start to finish. Our coffee mugs were always full and we were offered coffee to go! We will be back for breakfast or lunch! I just went with the flow because I was slightly confused. The wait staff was extra nice. We ordered our food, and he checked that we were well taken care of. He mentioned the reward system when he gave us the check and how to join. The restaurant itself is a decent size. They have multiple tables and booths. I got the chicken fried steak, and the food portion was pretty big. I did notice that my eggs and hash browns were not seasoned, and if they were, they were lacking. Great little spot, we went Wednesday morning and were seated right away. Our server brought our coffee and water super quick. The coffee was very good. We had the No 1 (eggs, bacon, ham, has browns and toast), also ordered the biscuits and gravy. I had fried eggs and they were perfect, the mister had scrambled and they were good as well. This was my mamas and my first time here! We got there around 9:45ish, and it was so busy, we love to see that at smaller businesses. We were greeted and sat at the bar within 10 minutes. It's a little noisy, as it would be at any breakfast spot. I think their was a mixup on which server would be serving us, so their was a little delay in ordering & checking out. The food was delicious and the plates are on the larger side, I couldn't finish mine! lol. The server made us aware she accidentally charged our card for a different table but then voided the ticket. Leander's been direly needing a proper breakfast/lunch spot for the last few years, and Nick's appears to finally be here to address that. Nestled off Crystal Falls parkway, it's a no nonsense spot with really good food. We came and got some brunch and we were impressed by the quality. We got some onion rings and they were made from scratch, which was a great start. I got a 2 egg plate with sausage links and hashbrowns and they knocked something that simple out of the park. The hashbrowns were crispy and on point, the sausage links were huge and flavorful. It was small details they got right but it showed they care, which is always a good feeling. My friend got a cod sandwich and it was really nicely put together as well. For the area this is a perfect fit and I hope to see them do well. Will be back for sure! read more

Love the vibe and the food is pretty good too. They have some healthy options like egg whites and chicken sausage links. This is not a place that knows what a gluten-free menu is though, lol. I was able to sub toast for fruit, which was really nice of the owner. The portions are Texas size and not pretentious, but comforting. We love Nick's! Our new favorite neighborhood spot. Great diner with amazing breakfast. I wish we knew what they used for that French Toast as it's just irresistible! You can load it with great fresh fruit, the strawberries are always perfect. The waffle has great malt flavor and is amazing. We love the sausage, it's always perfect. We recently discovered you can get a side of 1 biscuit with gravy, YES! It's really good and worth it. Allowing a side of 1 slice of French toast and a side of B&G allows you to get a little bit of everything; and have leftovers for the week. We love the breakfast so much we haven't gotten to the lunch much. I did try the BLT and added a fried egg and it was great. The fries were crisp and yummy. The service is always great, and sometimes you'll see Nick walking around checking on things and asking how everyone's food is. The restaurants is a a no frills, food focused basic diner. You're not there for ambiance. There is a small counter for those who like counter service. A lot of places have come and gone from this location and we're hoping NIck's stays! Came in for lunch today. Specifically wanted onion rings that look like the picture on the menu but when my onion rings arrived at the table, they were nothing like the ones that were in the picture. The waiter was great. He wanted to fix the issue by giving us fries instead, which was fine. I was so hungry for an omelette. Ordered an omelet that had cheese, ham, onions, and hash browns. The hash browns are actually inside the omelette. It comes with a bread. The omelette was HUGE! It was falling off of the plate! Maybe 8" x 12"? And it came out quickly. But it had a lot of brown on it, especially on the ends/edges. I hate brown (burnt) eggs. It was my fault tho, I usually order eggs 'soft' and I forgot this time. As I dug in, the cheddar cheese (I was suppose to get my choice of cheese), ham and onion were there, but the hash browns overtook the whole thing. They were very greasy and slightly cool, no flavor. I was not a fan. Needless to say I did not eat very much of it. I turned my attention to my bread choice. I ordered an english muffin. Is it customary to NOT toast the english muffin? Aaack. I mean, the bread is toasted, why not the EM? The coffee was good tho and I asked for a little cup of milk for my coffee which I got. We came in to try this place out and we were glad we came! I ordered a vegetarian omelet that was huge and filling. They offer $8.99 no substitution breakfast plates that my partner got, his biscuit and gravy was a good size. He loved it and was filling for him too. The staff is super nice and we came on a weekday where it wasn't too busy. It's a good size place, there are outdoor seatings, but it's a tad too hot in summer. I hate to have to give a bad review because the food here is very good, but I order to go usually and this is the 3rd time in a row that my order was wrong. I shouldn't have to double check my order before I leave. This isn't McDonalds. I simply ordered 2 potato and egg and cheese tacos. When I get to work to eat them, there are no potatoes. The food is fresh and plentiful and they stay busy during the weekend breakfast and brunch crowd, but I'm always willing to wait for good food, good service and Pepsi! Since our initial visit we have become regulars and have tried about 95% of the menu. You really can't beat the service and price for breakfast. Nick's was amazing, start to finish. We had a dog along and wanted to sit out on the patio as a result--the owner insisted on dragging an umbrella over for us in case the sun shifted and we were no longer in the shade. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend ordered the gyro and egg breakfast. Both were fabulous. I absolutely love hollandaise sauce and am usually trying to scrape up every tiny bit at most restaurants, but I didn't need to worry about that here. My plate was awash in hollandaise. The ham portion was generous too, and the hash browns were perfect. The star of the show though, in my mind, was the gyro meat on my friend's plate, which was incredibly tender and very well seasoned. By far the best gyro meat I've had in the Austin area, so I'll absolutely be going back for that, whether it's on the breakfast plate or on a gyro sandwich for lunch. The service was friendly and attentive, and everyone I spoke with seemed like they were happy to be doing what they were doing, which definitely isn't a given. I don't get up to Leander on a consistent basis, but between the really happy, chill vibe and the wonderful food, Nick's is going to be a must whenever I do. read more
