Nick's Deli II has been my go-to whenever I'm nearby getting a haircut and honestly, the Breakfast Burrito might be the real appointment these days. It's my absolute favorite breakfast burrito in the area. I get it with eggs over medium- comes with chorizo, potatoes, cheese and bacon. Great portion, amazing texture and the flavor is on point from start to finish. You can actually taste each component instead of everything turning into one salty breakfast blob. Every bite has something going on in the best way. Seasoned perfectly. Chef's kiss. The homemade salsa is fire too. Spicy, flavorful and exactly what the burrito needs. It cuts through the richness, wakes everything up and makes the whole thing even better. Dangerous stuff honestly, because now the burrito feels incomplete without it. I believe they got a mild and hot. Fries were bomb too. I ask for extra seasoning and they come through. The ketchup was also weirdly good, chilled and delicious. Could be Heinz, could be homemade, could be magic. Either way, I want more of it. The vibe's chill and down to earth. The people here are genuinely great imo. Friendly, easygoing and consistent every time I've stopped by. You place your order, they give you a ticket and you pay when it's ready. They also have a fun drink selection, including Calypso drinks and Stewart's root beer in cans and glass bottles. I respect a deli that gives the drink fridge some effort. There's seating when you walk in and more seating in the back area of the deli. Parking can be hit or miss and the spot is easy to pass by, but that breakfast burrito is worth circling the plaza for. You have to ask yourself, why does a neighborhood burrito place have more than a thousand positive reviews? After one visit, I think I get it. You can feel the love. The place has that comfortable, homegrown feel the moment you walk in. Handmade signs, local businesses advertised on the walls, and a steady stream of regulars giving the staff high fives, fist bumps, and asking how their parents are doing. This is clearly not just a place people eat. It is part of the community. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, and it was very good. Soft tortilla, gooey cheese, flavorful chorizo, a little crispy bacon, and a reasonable price. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard. Just a warm, satisfying burrito made the way a neighborhood favorite should make it. There were also quite a few military members from the nearby base, which adds another layer to the local pride and gives the whole place a little patriotic energy. I chase burritos. I have visited plenty of the famous places that show up all over Instagram and Yelp, so I would like to think I have earned at least a minor degree in breakfast burrito studies. Was this the absolute best burrito I have ever eaten? Probably not. Their breakfast burrito with a side of salsa is everything you need for a bfast burrito!!!! Filled with potato, cheese, egg, chorizo, bacon, & splash of salsa with a thick side of it. The best part- it hits the spot without feeling too heavy but you'll definitely be full. SECRET MENU!!! If you have little ones, ask for a Jr. breakfast burrito. They omit any heat. Even better is their service. Those guys welcome us with open arms every time. Trying to call ahead for pick up and can't get through?! SAME! Hang up and try again a few mins later!! We never have to call more than 3x. Food is usually ready within 15-20 mins. Want to feel even more special???? Tip them! They get super excited and shout it out. Consistency consistency consistency. I love this place and usually come to get a breakfast burrito at least once per drill. (Next to Army national guard base in Los Alamitos). I have tried the add sausage, or the extra bacon, but the truth is, the best one is the OG. They put bacon and chorizo and it's fantastic every single time. Would definitely recommend. I started eating them when I was 9-10 years old around 1995 at Nick's Seal Beach Main St. location after surfing with my Uncle Marc who always lived in Seal Beach...we'd walk in covered in sand and always get a handshake from Nick himself. Today I just walked into Nick's Deli 2 in Los Alamitos and once again, got a loving welcome and a handshake from Nick himself again!! I also get the same love from all the other employees..handshakes, fist bumps, and pleasant conversation is the theme at both locations EVERY visit, and I couldn't recommend the food enough, the ease of customizing food/special requests of ANY kind are happily taken, and then stay and eat if you want to further enjoy the most positive atmosphere of any restaurant ever. Thank you Nick for consistently being the kindest business owner I've ever witnessed since my childhood in the 90's. I love breakfast burritos and a really good one can really make my day. I went in, got a chorizo breakfast, and it came with salsa as well. It wasn't love at first bite since it seemed to be mostly tortilla at the beginning, but as I kept eating and got closer to the center of the burrito then I was amazed. The burrito was so good, it was really filled and everything was seasoned perfectly and I love the size of the burrito as well that it was a good size for the price. It wasn't overly big as well. The salsa that it came with was pretty good as well and just the perfect amount of spicy to complement a breakfast burrito Service/Ambiance It's a small hole in the wall type of place, few seating but a kinda expansive menu. Ran and operated by probably the same people. Blue collar workers come in and out, fist bumps are given, its insane the whole feel of it all. I've been a breakfast burrito fan for as long as I can remember and my first trip to Nick's .... did NOT disappoint! The ratio of ingredients were spot on and it wasn't filled with potatoes, like some are for fillers. In fact, I only saw one or two cubes in the entire burrito. The cost is comperable to every other breakfast burrito these days..... approximately $10. The burrito was folded very neatly and packed well so that the flavors melded and you didn't lose any like when you do when they aren't "packed". The tortilla was fresh and warm. It was wrapped in two papers for added protection and to hold the warmth in. I called in my order. The service was beyond attentive and only asked necessary questions and repeated my order back to me. "Breakfast Burrito for Julie. Ready in 10 min" All the call in orders were on the counter neatly in a row (in bags) and after 3 people asked me if I needed help, the guy at the register grabbed my bag and made my transaction. EVERYONE was overly friendly and everyone knew their specific job. Doubt if Nick was there himself, but he definitely trained everyone on how to be efficient! Way to go. My kind of place! They have a streamlined system: you order at the counter, get a number ticket, find a table, and they'll bring the food out to you. When you're done, you just take your ticket back to the counter to pay. *Avocado Bacon Omelet: This was delicious and had plenty of bacon. I would've liked more avocado to go with each bite, but that's just personal preference. It came with a side of potatoes, salsa on the side, and four slices of sourdough toast with salted butter, and a really nice-tasting strawberry jam. Everything tasted fresh and hit the spot for a casual and quick brunch. We didn't wait long for our food, although I could see this place getting busy. Parking was easy and we found a spot right out front. Service was friendly and I like how it's family owned. Nick's Deli is a well-loved local's spot for take-out breakfast burritos. It's family owned and I definitely saw Nick manning the phones for the constant barrage of phone orders. They do have deli sandwiches (pastrami, roast beef, turkey, etc), but Nick's is known by locals for the breakfast burritos. The majority of locals know to do phone orders. When I came on Saturday morning at 9:30 (which is probably peak business hour), the wait time bloomed from 35 minutes to 45 minutes. While we waited outside of the store for 40 minutes, we saw loads of people with phone orders go in and out. We did try to make the phone order prior to coming, but it was busy. I'd recommend that you just keep calling like you're trying to win tickets on the radio. Breakfast burritos are about $9. I got the regular breakfast burrito, which had potato, egg, chorizo, and red salsa. My wife got the machaca, which has shredded beef, onion, jalapeno, and eggs. Both were great and they are worth the cost. These days there are places selling breakfast burritos for $15-16, so I appreciate the value and quality that Nick's offers. Between the two burritos we ordered, I thought that the machaca was better. The onions, peppers, and juicy meat were pretty delicious and, though I like potatoes in my breakfast burrito, I didn't miss them in the machaca burrito. I do recommend the breakfast burritos at Nick's, but, on a weekend, I'd recommend to phone order or to come really early. read more
