Cinnamon roll: 8/10. The size of the roll is insane. I like that they don't put too much frosting because I think their can be a bit overwhelming. I think it's just a tad too sweet. Peach cobbler pie: 9.5/10. This was fantastic. I've never seen a peach pie like that before where it has more cobbler topping on the pie instead of pie crust on top. Absolutely genius especially since I prefer cobbler over pie. I bet this would be amazing with ice cream hut I didn't have any with me. I'm also sure it's amazing warm. I can see it feeling a bit too sweet after several more bites. Cookie; 7.5/10. Soo soft. Probably even better fresh but I didn't warm it up. Flavor is good but nothing too complex. Muffin: 7/10. Delicious food. Even better baked goods. The best service! Cool vibes in the dining room. It's like a bar, but with booths and lively decor. It was a hot day and it was hot in the restaurant. Would definitely suggest turning the AC up. Temp aside, Jose provided the best service. So friendly and kind. Making sure we always had what we needed. I was really craving a traditional breakfast of bacon, eggs, potatoes, toast and a side of pancakes. The food did not disappoint. Everything cooked perfectly. Hubby enjoyed his omelette as well. Stopped in for lunch with my buddy. The hostess was very nice and welcomed us. We were seated quickly. She let us choose the booth. Server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. A few minutes later we ordered lunch. I had the chicken salad sandwich with fries, and my buddy had the tuna melt with potato salad. Food arrive shortly after. Unfortunately, my fries were cold. Server apologized and replace the fries shortly after. My chicken salad had too much mayo and the sourdough toast was cold and dry. My buddies Tuna Melt was good, but he also has issues with toast. Oh what a disappointment my visit to the Gourmet Pie and Cafe it was. I heard many locals speak highly of the spot, so I was excited to try their pies on a Friday. Well, perhaps due to the time of visit being closer towards the end of the day, they had none of the pies I wanted available. So I settled with the key lime pie. I should have known better especially given the very artificially green looking pie. It tasted pungent and sickly sweet. I don't know why but it had an odd metallic aftertaste to it. Like I just got done gnawing on aluminum foil. I also couldn't get over the coloring. The crust tasted really awful. Like mildewy and wet graham cracker crumbles. We drove 40 minutes specifically because of an Instagram post by @laoc.eats featuring a prime rib that looked incredible. Upon arrival, we were informed that the prime rib was only available during Father's Day weekend. It would have been nice if that little detail had been mentioned in the post that inspired the trip. Since we were already there and starving, we decided to stay. Mistake #1. The medium rare top sirloin arrived looking like it had lost a fight with a blowtorch. It was so overcooked and rubbery that we couldn't finish it. We brought the leftovers home thinking at least our dog would enjoy it. She sniffed it and walked away. For anyone who has ever owned a dog, you understand how impressive that is. The meatloaf somehow managed to transport me back to my hospital room after my appendectomy. If you've ever wondered what institutional cafeteria food tastes like with a side of disappointment, order the meatloaf. The coleslaw appeared to be made from aging cabbage with visible brown and pink bruising throughout. To save myself a trip to urgent care, I passed on trying it. The mashed potatoes were the only thing that showed signs of life, but the gravy was so salty it could probably preserve a mummy and contained the dried skin that forms when gravy sits out too long. Even the lemon slices in our water glasses were slimy. The atmosphere felt less like a destination restaurant and more like the dining room of an assisted living facility. The average age of the patrons appeared to be somewhere around 78, which honestly started making sense once the food arrived. The hostess was very nice and our waitress was pleasant, but she seemed just as confused as we were about what was actually available on the menu. We left hungry, annoyed, and wondering how many other people had made the same pilgrimage after seeing that Instagram post. At this point, I have to question whether @laoc.eats actually eats at the places being promoted or just photographs them. This was our second disappointing restaurant recommendation from that account, and it may be the last time we use it as a dining guide. Forty minutes there. Forty minutes back. One edible side dish. This was another place that we passed by several times and finally decided to stop. It's kind of hard to describe it. When you walk in there's a small bakery counter. All we were standing there, several people came in just asking for a single piece of pie to go. There are two rooms on either side. One side has a really long bar and lots of boots, and the other side has boots and tables and a cute little faux balcony on one side. The ceilings are beamed which is a nice touch. We ordered the country fried steak and a sirloin steak. Both reserved with mashed potatoes and gravy and a dinner salad. Everything was quite good. The service was the best part about the experience eating here. The food is fine but I would have preferred to go to iHop or something due to the value of the food for the price you pay. The food is expensive and for no good reason. Paying $19 for a breakfast combo and getting only one piece of your protein was actually diabolical. You're paying $19 for two eggs one piece of sausage and some toast. Any other breakfast place would give you at least two pieces of your protein. I probably won't return as I can get better quality food and more food for my dollar elsewhere. And just while we're at it, they were playing the news on multiple TVs during my meal. Came here with a party of nine, they were quick to accommodate (although they didn't have the reservation in the system that we had called in two days prior, and there was some visible quibble between the servers as to who was going to take us) and were more than friendly the entire time. It came with the roast beef and chilies, but then had sauerkraut and thousand island dressing, like the chef just lost track of what he was making half way through? I lived with it as we had already waited to start eating as there was an error between salad and sandwich for another order, and I was hungry and didn't want to hold things up further. We stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Although the parking lot was pretty full and there were people waiting outside, there were a lot of open tables. We figure either they were waiting for people or picking up to-go orders. Definitely check out the specials if you're indecisive like I am. The booths are quite comfy and I didn't feel trapped in like most other establishments. We chose to go with a simple meal, country fried steak, eggs and potatoes, and a french toast plate. The steak was nice and moist, and eggs cooked nicely. The french toast was a lot bigger than i expected, but was good, sweet and moist, although I wasn't a fan of the sausage patty. We rounded out our meal with a slice of pie. We were pretty full, but there's always room for dessert...especially since Pie is already in the place's name. No ragrets, not even one letter! The crust complimented the filling very well. We'll definitely be back to try the other items kn the menu!!! The deduction in stars is based on the service itself.....we did have to wait a while to get someone's attention, and our server filled my soda cup with water, after i told him twice it was soda. Last time was the worst. Came in on Labor day weekend to get some take out. Took my order at the counter. Had to repeat myself about 10x for each item I was trying to order as the girl behind the counter was half listening. After they took my order waited for 15 minutes before I was told an item wasn't available. Asked if I wanted to swap it for something else which I didnt we specifically came for that item and ordered 3 of them. Asked for a refund and the girl said she would have to figure out how to do that. So after about 40 minutes total no food finally got the refund. No apology for wasted time. I dont see this place lasting long term. Prices are high and you can actually pay the same or less at Katella Deli down the street for way better service and quality. read more

We remembered how much we loved the desserts last year when we came with friends and this time wanted to get breakfast. I ordered the California Benedict ($19.50) and my husband got the Pancake Breakfast ($17.95). My fruit bowl was very nice with a variety of nicely cut fruit, even some kiwi and banana which is rare in a fruit bowl. My Benedict had a couple black olives on it inexpicably but was very delicious. Pancakes were deemed good by my husband, the Le Pancake Connoisseur. They're now using an AI chat bot to take orders over the phone. I know I already posted a negative review here a few months ago, and just got what looks like another robotic type of response from the so-called business manager who offered to further assist. Contacted them directly has requested, but never received a response. Tonight's family decision to order once again was a bit hesitant, but we decided to try again as with the majority of my household just did not feel like going out to eat in person. I was a bit taken aback by the robotic assistant taking the order over the phone. But with patience and proper instruction from the order taker, it seemed as though everything was good. It even read back the order to me to make sure everything is correct, as I did have to correct it once before completing the order. I also received a confirmation of the order via text after receiving a link to pay online through a Yelp service here. Unfortunately it happened again. We got home and found that one of the items was incorrect, and one item had something that should have had a standard addition to it but it did not. In particular it was a French dip sandwich that was served without the au jus sauce. There was no indication over the phone that I would have had to confirm that I wanted au jus as it is standard with the item. The other item that was wrong ended up coming as an appetizer rather than a dinner. Even though we did try to consume the items, they just weren't satisfactory and it was difficult to eat the sandwich without the au jus. I've already contacted the restaurant directly, pretty much only being able to send a message through the website as there is no one answering the phone directly by a human being. We'll see if I actually get a response this time, not just the automated response from the business manager here on Yelp. We've never really had an issue dining in, but sometimes my family just doesn't feel up to going out as we have two senior citizens in the home who would rather stay in in order of food sometimes. I did ask for corn chips hope to have a crunch with the burrito to balance texture but they don't have that on the menu. Next on order was a tri tip salad with a creamy something dressing. Salad was great the dressing was very tart. Again our server (super attentive )even asked cooked style for beef. We saved room for dessert. I walked up to see the window of desserts just to see what caught my eye. I asked an employee if all were baked in house he said yes. I asked about all the cakes and jam he said yes. I went back to our table and as I was asked from our server what type of dessert would I like, I picked coconut cake. To only find out cake isn't always available.(Kinda thought maybe the server I asked about the baked goods would have told me? Like yes all in house baked however we do not carry cake at all times, or we don't have any today sorry?) So I ended up choosing a peach crumble. Super dissatisfied there was a uncooked visual of the pie crust where filling was stuffed. I asked the server she said let me ask and came back with that's the cream part that's added. Hmm? Dough was very light uncooked looking. I had a few bites and left most of it. Until I looked up and my bf added it to his old fashioned sundae. Which was served in a classic style glass. I read several reviews both good and bad about Gourmet Pie & Cafe but my Mom really likes this establishment so we decided to come and give it a try ourselves. Thankfully we decided to try because the food was delicious, service was excellent provided by Jose, and the portion size pretty large. Prices are fair and not overly expensive compared to other nearby breakfast restaurants so this was a definite win win. Parking may be a little tight but it seemed to open up pretty quickly. If you're in the Los Alamitos or Cypress area Gourmet Pie is a must and dont forget to take home a Pie for later. read more

I'm gonna go with a 3 star review for this place because I've been there twice and once was great and once was not great, so it's average. The first time was for breakfast and I thought it was great. I am constantly looking for go to diner for breakfast, and we came to Gourmet Pie and Cafe because of Instagram. It was really busy and we had to squeeze 4 people into a tiny booth, but the food was really good. I got the banana pecan pancake and thought it was really good. We went around 11am so my husband got the pozole and it came in a huge bowl and was very tasty. When we came back for lunch several months later, I was not as impressed. I got a french dip sandwich and my husband got the fish and chips. His came with a ton of fish and fries but the fish was only so so. My sandwich was also kinda bland, definitely nothing to write home about. I think the worst part about our last visit was that our waitress was basically non-existent. I guess it was busy so we were sat in the bar area, which was fine. Maybe they were short staffed, not busy, but we had to flag her down if we wanted anything, and it took a really long time to get our food from the kitchen. Ok where do I start. We came here on mother's Day, because a lot of restaurants in the area had long wait times. I've been here years ago and suggested this to my family. We arrived, and settled in a booth rather quickly. This is where everything started going downhill. My mother and I got the chicken fried steak with potatoes and corn. My wife got the top sirloin with potatoes and asparagus. Kids got spaghetti and mini sliders. It was 2pm at the time and were given options of soup or salad. The three adults selected soup. My mom and I got tortilla soup and my wife wanted Italian vegetable soup. After a few minutes, the waitress comes back and states to my wife and I that cream corn and asparagus were not ready yet. She stated my mother's selection of butter corn was fine, but we had to select between mixed vegetables, broccoli, or spinach. I stated I don't like broccoli, and selected spinach. My wife selected the mixed vegetables. Once the food came out. My mom who selected buttered corn. Was told by the server that corn was not available so they auto selected mixed vegetables for her. Now let's get down to the food. The gravy for the country fried steak still had a strong flour taste (like they quickly whipped up some gravy without letting the flour mix properly in the gravy. The spinach was bland as if the quickly blanched it without seasoning anything. The food was so subpar non of us finished anything. I would not recommend this place. They obviously did not prepare for mother's Day crowds and demand. We did not appreciate the auto substitution and just are what we could. I will not revisit this establishment again.
