So first and foremost Nick is a great guy. He feels more like a friend than someone helping me do demo and I am sure you will feel the same way after working with him. From the first time I talked to him he made it a point to understand my objective and try to find solutions on how he could help. I never got the feeling that he was in this for the money - he truly wants to contribute to my project which I sincerely value. The work that his guys do is second to none. I asked him for 70 feet of trenching, 24" deep and his guys cane out, knocked it out in a couple of hours, and it has clean lines, all the same depth. Because of my yard dimensions they had to do the work by hand but it looks like they used a tractor because it is so professionally done. Nick's 3 guys were 15 minutes early, hard at work immediately, and very skilled. They were friendly and helpful, willing to go beyond the scope of work to ensure the job was done right and to my satisfaction. I had called Nick after my chimney inspector had advised me to remove the stack above my roof and had a very high quote. I called Nick for a quote and he was very responsive. He also offered to call his friend who's a GC to see if he'd be willing to do the work Nick couldn't do. I ended up calling another chimney inspector for a second opinion before proceeding with the work. Turns out the 2nd inspector thought my chimney was solid and it was unnecessary to demo the stack. Nick had followed up with me several times and had a competitor quote. Luckily for me I did not actually need to demo the chimney. Wish I could give them 6 stars! Contacted Nick on Friday, had a quote within minutes and they were at my house Monday morning! I was quoted a price that did not change (much appreciated), and I was quoted a time frame of 2 days, which was completed within that time. Nick's crew demo'd a 490 sq ft wall that other paver companies wanted to charge me 3x the amount, while others refused. I had some companies tell me to just paint it or cover it. I wanted it gone for a good price and Nick was able to get it done. The crew had to remove my gate to get their bobcat in and they completely put it back overnight, which I was super happy with. Nick's Demo did a great job at my neighbor so I hired him to remove the driveway and walkway concrete, dig down for paver base rock and move dirt around for landscaping. His crew showed up on time for 3 days and had axes (needed for tree roots) shovels, saws etc. They worked very hard. They only took 2 short breaks and lunch so they put in a full day. They cleaned up each day and worked very well with the landscaper to do what he needed. The price was fair as it is not easy to get rid of old concrete and dirt. I needed the haul away of a demolished barn, corral and trailer within a short period of time. I sent photos of the huge rubble pile to get a bid. This was on a Monday and I was hoping they had an opening to do the work within the next two weeks. Nick got back to me within about an hour with a price and said, "we can start Thursday and finish up Friday if necessary. At the same time I was pricing 2 or 3 30 yard roll off disposal containers to haul the rubble away as that was what was advised by a friend.I was also thinking that it could save me money as Nicks crew wouldn't have to haul it away. Well, the price he gave me did include the haul away and he suggested I not rent to huge containers, they could handle it. I was so excited they could get that job done so quickly. I hired them and the crew lead by Rodrigo showed up on time and got started. All three were very friendly, methodical and very quickly. They answered any questions I had and I just got out of their way. I've never seen workers stack so well and take care of those buildings so quickly. They stacked everything so well they only required two loads in their 14ft trailer the first day and they finished up, as promised, the morning of the 2nd day. With the last load they even made sure there was enough room to take their small piece of tractor equipment with them. I absolutely did not need those roll-off disposal containers. I've had my fair share of contractors at the house to help with a few remodels. You know how you call up some contractors and you get that uneasy feeling; like you have no idea what you're going to get... well, rest easy because Nick and his partner are the best of the best at what they do! I called him up for a previous portion of my job and i should have went with my gut. I went elsewhere and i got a shoddy job and it ended up costing more than Nick's quote in the long run. Oh, and i ended up doing most of the work myself anyway. They are great communicators (english), whether it be via text or phone. They are always professional and find ways to be positive. Nick has an old school (midwest) work ethic. Imagine that... someone actually takes pride in their work and how they do business. Not to be condescending in the slightest way, but what he and his crew do is not the most glamorous job, yet they're more positive and enthusiastic about what they do than most I've ever met, and I don't think it's a front just for their job. My last 3 contractors have been whiny little brats; always looking for ways not to do their job, or to cut corners, or complain about how hard the job is going to be. Nick and co. came out in our worst rainstorm of the year to clean out my construction garbage from the yard. Every stitch of garbage was SOAKED. Most would have called to reschedule, but Nick came out and his partner even commented how much we needed the rain and jumped right into the job... probably two trailers full. I definitely didn't expect them to show, or at least to call and reschedule, but they were prompt... even a few minutes early, but not too early, and worked their tails off in the pouring rain with a smile. After getting 4 quotes from other highly-reputable (4.5 - 5 star Yelp reviews) companies, I decided to go with Nick's due to their availability and low cost. Rodrigo and his team with Nick's Hauling & Demo were stellar. A hard working crew with HIGH quality service. They arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time. Which, right off the bat, made a good 1st impression on me. After about a 3 minute conversation of what was going to be done, the team got to work right away. There is a narrow (~38") walkway leading to our backyard. They were able to carefully maneuver the Bobcat through the walkway and into the backyard, without any scratches/dents to our fence or home. They were able to demo and haul approximately 350 square feet of 4" thick concrete (with rebar) in less than 5 hours. Once the demo and haul away were complete, without me asking, they power washed the driveway, where the trailer was parked. I was highly impressed. Most of the time, the old adage "you get what you pay for" is not a good thing. In this case, it was the exception.
