Tried to call in an order and you guys don't have a reliable delivery driver what a joke....

We live across the street for the past 5 years and we have only been there three times. The menu is very limited and the pizza is not anything special. If you want to have a beer and eat peanuts while looking at dead animals this is your place. I wish them well especially after the new neighbors moved in and took over their entrance. Good luck read more

This is THE pizza place - they started out in Crystal Lake (that location has been around forever) and have added two more locations since, including this one. Sure, the animals on the walls, and the barn venue may be somewhat intimidating, but thats just how it goes at Nick's. The pizza is comparable to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn - different, but just as scrumptious. Their crust is perfect, and Nick's Special or Margherita are the way to go in my opinion. Forego the appetizers or the sandwiches, and just get the individual pizza all for yourself! I have never had bad service here either, and I have been a patron for years..... I will keep coming back here. read more

I'm a bit disappointed with my Nick's Pizza and Pub experience. We are fairly new to the area and are always looking for new places to try. A groupon was offered a couple of weeks ago so I purchased one and decided to use it this past Saturday. I thought of going to Nick's for a late lunch that way we wouldn't judge the establishment during peak times when service gets hectic. Pulling up to the restaurant my kids were in awe... (it is pretty cool) On the entrance there was a sign taped to the door advising diners to inform server at seating if a Groupon is being used. Why? Why when seated? Why not while placing my order? I didn't like the sign, but we did advise our server of the groupon. Our drinks came out immediately after being seated, so did our appetizer. We ordered 5 beverages, an onion blossom, Hot Dogs and fries for the kids (3) and a Medium Double Decker Nick's Special. Once we got our food, the fries were great, but the hot dog buns were stale and hard. The pizza looked amazing, but the sauce was horrible!! It tasted like a can of tomato puree was plopped on it without being salted on seasoned. I was really looking forward to Nick's especially since it got such awesome reviews. Our server only came by once after the food got to the table after that she was nowhere to be seen. We tried getting refills on our drinks but gave up and asked some other employee for our check. My husband and I are not ones to complain in a restaurant about food or service, unless its a pretty big deal, so we paid our check tipped our server (15%) and left confused and upset. Is it because we used the Groupon ? We decided to maybe get back there another time without the groupon and give the place another try. read more

I love Nick's. It feels so cozy inside and love to be able to toss the peanut shells on the floor. Can't wait to come back.

This place has great pizza, but their prices are ridiculous. I ordered two large pizzas and the total came out to $42 - a LARGE is only 14" and that was without any appetizers like breadsticks or wings. While the pizza was good, we didn't feel that it was worth nearly $50 especially when you get a large & medium specialty pizza with breadsticks, mozzarella sticks & a 2 liter of coke for $$50. read more

This was my first time at this location, we eat at the Crystal Lake one A Lot! The service was great. The restaurant had tons of room for large groups. Its very thin pizza, but that's how we like it! Hot wings were really good! Love the mozzarella sticks...order ranch with them..so good! Food came quick!!! read more

Good food! Fast service! It's a little loud and there are tons of animal h ads everywhere.

Service was good. Very busy Friday and still, service was pretty impeccable. Beer nuggets were awesome and I loved the 3-sauce dipping option. Pizza was a bit expensive for the 14 inch, and nothing to write home about, just okay. A one topping was close to $18.00 and it wasn't that good to me. However, the marinara dip for the beer nuggets yum. I would return based on service and the beer nuggets, but maybe I will get a salad and some more of their abundant appetizers all of which sounded good (bruschetta, veggie tray,. garlic bread, cheese sticks). I don't know that I'd be willing to pay that much for the pizza again. But I will go back. Atmosphere and decor were awesome----peanuts to eat which can be thrown on the floor. Cool vibe. Everyone was happy as far as the employees and SUPER polite, like nowhere I have ever seen. You can tell these employees are valued and love their jobs. Makes for a much more pleasant experience! read more

What can I say. it's probably not fair for me to rate this restaurant because if I have eaten here once I've"ve eaten here more than 100 times. I have lived in the area for about 12 years and when the farmland was cleared and we saw the log cabin/ restaurant was going up I was excited to have another pizza place to try. Well sorry to tell all the other pizza places in the area YOUR OUT !! Nick's by far has the best pizza whether you eat in or take out. The decor is that of a hunting cabin and beer is ice cold. My preference is the thin crust pepperoni on top pepperoni on the bottom of the cheese. I probably have a least one of these a week. But if you aren't a pizza lover try any of the sandwiches... they are all delicious!! I won't comment on the peanuts since so many others have already said how much fun a peanut fight can be with your kids. Just kidding don't throw them just swipe the shells to the ground. The staff is great always making sure you have a cold drink and that the food is to your liking. I will tell you that with as popular as Nick's is make sure you are prepared to wait 15 or so minutes on a Friday or Saturday night in the summer. Nick's is very popular with all of the local kids' sports teams. Lastly, my business partner who lives too far away to make the trip out to Nick's, insists on the Friday night Saturday morning leftovers. If I go for a Friday night pizza ( and when don't I ) he insists that if the pizza is this good cold the next day. it's gotta be one of the best made anywhere. PS he gives you 5 stars too. So make sure if you are in the area, stop in and say hi to Nick and his crew, and if you like the place make sure you sign up for Nick's frequent customer program. It's free and doesn't take long ( if you are a regular ) to get free food. ***** stars dand read more

Walking into the carry out section I was surprised by a bevy of cute kitchen maidens waiting to take my order. What caught me by surprise was when one by one each of the team took turns welcoming me with a Hello to Nicks! It was nice. I must note that many of these gals are high school to early college age. The floor is littered with cracked peanut shells and nuts are offered to you as you wait. I've never been here nor able to find decent reviews about the pies so on a whim just decided to try. I took advice from my kitchen maiden who would typically order a bacon, garlic and spinach thin crust. Instead I went for an individual thin crust with jalapenos and pepperoni. The jalapenos were hot, as in spicy, the taste of the sauce and meat was better than I expected. The crust had a chew to it. It was good and if way out here again, I may come back again. If ordering a thin crust takeout you would want to eat it quickly, I had a short fifteen minute ride to my destination and my pie was already cold. I should've known better. Paired this with hot wings, Yum!. read more

YUMMY!! Nick's has been bookmarked for me to try since last year and just made it there last night and boy Im sad I waited this long!!! My friend and I were trying to think of a place to get some food at and Nick's came up in my bookmark...I said well why not finally try it. Im friends with them on facebook, went to check their page out and was excited to find that pizza from 4-6pm on Mondays are 50% off....YES PLEASE!!! they also have $2.00 beers.....you cant go wrong. After leaving work we checked the YELP app just to get the address and they had a free munchie check in.....I dont think our night could be any cheaper!!! for your Munchie we ordered the beer nuggets....they came out right away with cheese cause and red sauce(Id skip the red sauce next time) and they were so garlicky and cheesie it was AMAZING!! While we were snacking on those they also had peanuts on the table to eat as well. After we ate our beer nuggets we ordered a medium pizza with mushrooms and jalapenos on it on a whole wheat crust, I think this option for a crust is great, it came out super hot and you couldnt even tell the crust was whole wheat...hey had to be a little healthy ;) Will be visiting again for sure so many other things on the menu I would like to try!!! *YELP check-in=free munchie* *monday-50% pizza and $2.00 beers* read more

I've been to Nick's a handful of times, and each time I've had a pleasant experience. My most memorable Nick's experience however was about a year ago when they hosted a fundraiser for my Uncle. He had leukemia and a friend of his had arranged a fundraiser with Nick's. I worked closely with the gentleman who arranged the fundraiser as he was located in Ohio and was coming out just a few days prior to the fundraiser. Our group took over almost the entire restaurant. The staff was wonderful with making sure everyone was documented for their contribution of their bill towards the fundraiser, they were even informing other customers of the fundraiser so a portion of their bill could benefit our fundraiser as well if the customers pleased. The staff actually took part in the fundraiser, not only by promoting it, but some bought raffle tickets as well. It really made us feel like they actually cared about our cause, and not the money they could make from hosting our fundraiser. Their pizza is delicious and I've been back a few times since. I was given a gift certificate here about 3-4 years ago by my Grandmother who lives in the Elgin area and was immediately wowed by the pizza on my first visit (just the way she described! {PS- yeah my Gramie is awesome, so what?!). I've gone back a few times with my hubby, for the fundraiser, as well as meeting up with family for a relaxed dinner out. Yum yum, looking forward to visiting again soon! P.S.- They were featured on Groupon a few days ago and I think there is still some time to buy the $15 for $30 voucher. read more

Terrible service to bad pizza is good. Need to hire managers who know what they are doing.

Seems to us that something has changed with this place..Food quality and service are not what we have had in the past. Came in July for lunch. Ordered the wings and the the beef & sausage combo. Wings were terrible. Sausage was poor quality. Beef so-so. Went back on a recent Saturday night with another couple. Service was slow. Just before food was served other couple was told that their pizza was burnt and they would have to make another on. So we ate while they waited another 10 minutes. Ha d an individual pizza and the Italian beef. Pizza was ok, beef dry and not great quality. Wife said washroom was a mess. No TP and dirty. Just haven't been impressed lately. read more

If I'm ordering thin crust, this is my go to pizza joint. The sauce is zesty & there's a nice balance or flavors, especially if you order sausage. It reminds me of small town pizza place I frequented with my family as a child. I've brought my family here & they agree. This is were we create new memories with children of our own. read more

Pizza overall is pretty good. Thin crust with good balance of toppings and flavorful. Crust holds up both in strength and flavor. What is up with paper plates and plastic silverware though? Come on - we're midwesterners use to eating our pizza with a knife and fork. With plastic cutlery you risk slipping and sending pizza schrapnel flying at your dinner companion. Love the peanuts on the table and the decor is interesting in a ski lodge meets Norman Bates Taxidermy kind of way. They have a half price pizza night on Monday so that was a plesant surprise. My only complaint was we ordered one of their special pizzas but wanted 1 side without the sausage but when we got the bill they billed us individually for the toppings which added several dollars to the price. read more

I've been coming to this location for a few years. Family time, fundraisers, watch a game, and even when they were close to going out of business and the owner made a heartfelt plea to please come and inject as much money into his business as you could to keep it alive. It's a fun atmosphere with the stuffed animals all over the place and peanut shells covering the floor. That's all this place has going for it. Sorry. Pizza is just ok. Sauce is basically bland tomato paste. The kids love the beer nuggets although they're not my fav; they taste too yeasty. I'd have to say the bruschetta was good. The drinks are weak. I was shocked that when I complained about the two weak margaritas to the owner himself (as he went table to table and stopped by ours last night), he only offered up that the bartender was following the recipe. The right answer woulda been, "I'm very sorry, let me get you another on the house." But that's the way he wants to run his business. I don't agree with that customer service but it's his name on the sign, not mine. Waitstaff has always been fantastic and food is delivered promptly the majority of the time. The atmosphere is fantastic and that's the only reason I keep comjn back. read more

Great thin crust pizza. The gluten free pizza is excellent and I saw that now there is a cauliflower crust pizza. Love their peanuts in a shell. read more

The gluten free pizza is good. Always have good service and the Sprechers Root Beer is a bonus

Ok place, nothing spectacular. I have been here a few times in the dining room (it has always been PACKED full of people every time I have gone and a bit loud) and also ordered take out. They offer gluten free pizza which is decent, but don't have a lot of gluten free options so it is not my first or second or third choice of places to go. If you don't have any food restrictions they do have a large variety of food. read more

The service was really good and consistent , kind people. The food however wasnt that good , the mozzarela sticks were semi-cold and we got a "double decker" pizza which is honestly just a regular pan pizza ! everything would fall off the slice leaving just the crust way to messy. Dominos has better pizza for cheaper read more

Been to Nick's many times and have never had a bad pizza. I love the idea of using eco-friendly plates and REAL silverware. The wait staff is always friendly and courteous. And FAST! Nick himself stops by the table to see if everything is good, and his management staff is great! I love the 1/2 price pizzas on Monday (eat in) and Tuesday 1/2 price takeout. read more

Great atmosphere and pizza. The Mexican Pizza is my favorite. I have been there a few times and it was hit or miss on the service. One time it was good and the next not so much. read more

I love there pizza especially the one with bacon and pepperoni . Really good and don't forget the peanuts what they serve you.

My husband and I were so excited to try this place for the first time. We sat down, ordered drinks and were asked for our IDs. We gave the waitress our military IDs, she then told us "i can not except this ID". We felt so disrespected. My husband did not fight for this country to be denied a Beer for being military. read more

Came to celebrate and was so disappointed. My beef wrap had meat that was full of gristle and my fries were cold. Waitress was busy but the "How are you doing here" was a walk by and we didn't have time to answer. The 4 of us agreed we would not be back. Sad because it has potential to be much better. read more

Awesome!!! This is my first visit with 3 boys ages 9,6,5 and a 4 month old and this place is amazing! No wait even though its dinner on friday. Frank our server is great with kids, in fact all the staff has been awesome letting us know about santas visit later in the holiday season and replying to the kids goofy questions! Everyone one is super helpful and friendly! Food came out fast and delicious! Fairly priced and family friendly! Def made a new loyal customer today! read more

Our family loves nicks!! Our favorites are the moose wings (for us) and beer nuggets (for the kids). We never go wrong with pizza or one of their fantastic burgers. The thin crust pizza is out of this world!! Charming outdoorsy theme with very informative staff. The beer nuggets were delicious and very flavorful. Throwing peanut shells on the floor is so much fun! The overall experience was great, affordable, and delicious. read more

Really average pizza. Bland. I guess their draw is that they are kid friendly? There are so many other places to go, I'd recommend skipping this place. read more

Absolutely terrible on estimating delivery times. So far it's been 45 minutes over the estimated time.

This is by far my favorite pizza place. There's so much to look at, which is great for my little sisters and cousins. Along with that the staff are so friendly. read more

This is a warning to anyone that goes to Nick's in a party over 8. We went there for dinner on Wednesday when they have their special, a hamburger, fries and a drink for $5.00. We did not notice until we got home that the waitress charged us 18% tip on what the price would be on another day when it is not their special. This is totally wrong. We were not using any coupons and the price they have is $5.00 and the tip should only be based on that. Beware if you go in there and have more than 8 people they will grossly overcharge you on the tip. read more

*If you have a peanut allergy this is not the place for you. Great food and good service. The only problem is that I'm allergic to peanuts so it makes it stuffy. Other than that I enjoyed it. read more

Very good pizza... thin, crunchy crust, zesty sauce, flavorful sausage and yummy cheese. Plus it was buy one get one free:) Thumbs up!

On Saturday, several friends, my husband, and I went to Nick's for dinner. When our waiter brought a tray of our drinks, he proceeded to dump them down my back. I realize accidents can happen, but no one apologized for this action. The manager never appeared to speak to me. When I returned to the table after attempting to dry my hair and clothes, there were paper towels on the floor. My chair was still wet, and my husband had to request a new chair. The attempt to clean the floor was unsuccessful as the people in the booth behind me complained that the floor was still wet. That complaint brought out someone who asked me to get up so he could sprinkle powder all over the floor. Still no apology. They did end up comping only my small cheese pizza. No offer to pay for the dry cleaning. Very disappointing. read more

Excellent service and flippin amazing pizza. First of all, the service is top notch for a pizza joint. The servers are very friendly and always on the ball with drink refills. It doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary but they do an excellent job. Now for the pizza....Get the double decker pepperoni, extra sauce, extra pepperoni on top, well-done. It is definitely the best pizza that has ever graced my tastebuds! Great job, Nick's!!! read more

Great Service. Server was very patient and informative going through the menu with me. Was able to get a drink special of well mixed drinks for 3.50. Grabbed a long island, wasn't the best tasting but definitely strong. Great pizza!! Great ambiance!! read more

After having quite a few visits to Nick's under my belt, and the most recent having been so much fun, i now feel qualified to surmise my overall experience... hope someone finds it useful... and not too precocious or winded, lol 1) Food- Pizza, great! Its called Nick's PIZZA and Pub for a reason. Thin crust, crispy, not too much sauce, evenly space ingredients, always accommodating to any special requests... they even do 1/4 ingredients on a pizza, nice! Appetizers, salads, salad sandwiches all pretty decent and pub basics done right. This aint Chicago deep dish place. Their double dough pizza is just that, their thin crust with its toppings and then anothr layer of thinner dough and more toppings and the crusts rolled... its not my thing but my friends really enjoyed theirs. 2) Drinks- So again, I refer to the name of the place as a PUB in my judgement. Its bar has 10 or 12 draft beers of some staples and a few rotating handles. Could use an update in craft beer, bottles or draft. And wine is bottom basics. Refills are such a rare & nice thing these days on sodas so Nicks gets bonus for that. They have lots of other soda choices for our kids too. And do yourselves a favor, if you drink a lot of soda, ask for a pitcher or half, save you from having to hunt down your server on busy nights! 3) Atmosphere- Its a BARN! Beautiful reclaimed barn wood, rustic, pub feel, peanut shells strewn across the floors, stuffed animals everywhere and not the teddy bear stuffed animals for babies. However, there is a bear or two along with many other creatures. Do Not come here if u have any peanut allergy or are offended or sensitive to dining underneth stuffed geese hung from the ceiling or the very impressive antler chandeliers... personally, we love it, especially when seated by the open fireplace! And finally, lastly but not least, The Staff... Overall, amazing!!! Frank was our first server quite a ways back and he set the bar high! Friendly, attentive and knew every answer to our questions. Helped guide us through our Nick's journey. A ways back Jessie took care of a big party we were in and totally rocked it with a smile the whole night. It was busy that night and we knew how crazy things were but she never missed a beat! Had a few other servers since then and they all were great. This evening, we were part of a large mixed age group celebrating 4 birthdays! Our server was 3 (yes, thats her name!) and she was wonderful! She orchestrated our party beautiful, from drinks, to knowing how much food to order for the table and then taking care of each person with a birthday with candles lit on each dessert and knowing all their names! She even impessed my elderly mother who kept asking me how she does it! read more
