Pizza is scarce is the area so we went to check out Nick's. It was empty for saturday lunch but seemed good, we saw the fresh dough out and the owner is Italian, enough reason for me to stay. They have an all you can eat buffet for lunch during the week, unfortunatly it was saturday but they still had the salad buffet so I got that as well as a BBQ ham and cheddar calzone. My husband got the pepperoni, onion and mozz calzone, each were just under $9 and a good size. The pizzas are about $20 each and we figured this would be a perfect lunch, which it was. You can taste they make their own dough, which turns out is not that great. It is kind of when you try to bake your own bread at home, strange consistancy, thick, yeasty and not smooth. The ham not so good, the tomato sauce on the pepperoni one, however was amazing! Homemade, chunky, with tomato and onion pieces, seasoned perfectly. By far my favorite pizza place in Apple Valley. This is NOT the place for you if you don't like cheese!! I always order a cheese and sausage pizza. You can easily feed 2-3 people very well for about 20-30$ depending on what you order. My boyfriend and I ordered a large cheese and sausage pizza and the cheesy breadsticks with two drinks. I think our total was around $25. The service can be really slow at times, then again there was only one server for the entire place! Maybe it was just a bad day, but the pizza made up for it. Nick's Pizza is the best pizza in the High Desert, hands down. We drive all the way from Hesperia just to get it.

To start off the place needs a good cleaning carpets are filthy and worn. Salad bar is a one tripper so you better be able to balance it all on that plate. Salad bar is nothing fancy so don't understand the single trip. You should maybe rethink this as some people don't eat pizza or do carbs. Pizza is okay from what I was told I can't personally say one way or the other. Server acted less than thrilled to be there actually could care less it seemed. Also use cash unless you want them to add extra in hold on your bank card for a tip took a week to release the extra $10.00 which isn't a big deal but if you deserved a $10.00 tip I would have left you one. read more

Not the prettiest of joints, however the pizza is pretty good - thicker crust / lots of pizza sauce. Taste a lot like the older version of Pizza hut. Service was great and very attentive. Once upon a time this was the go to pizza place but not anymore. The prices are ridiculous and the quality is awful. Place needs to be remodeled. You could not pay me to eat there. Every time I drove by I always wanted to try this place. I finally had the chance to with a few friends. The service from are waitress was really bad. She was young blonde and couldnt careless. The service from the next table from us received much better service than us perhaps because we were not white. The water tasted very bad like metal. The lemonade must of been made with the same water it had the metal taste as well. The calzone was a nice size for the price. It was cheesy and tasted good but just too dry it needed marinara sauce. I notice that this place was won a few years for being the best but it sure was not. The workers in the kitchen were not wearing gloves and were texting on their phones as well. There was also a man with glasses and wearing a long coat which perhaps was the manager or owner on his phone in the kitchen as well. He then went outside for a smoke. I have been trying to support local business during the Covid 19 shut down. However, I will not be returning to Nicks. I ordered online and expected to be able to get the order without issue. When we arrived, the lobby was full of people, DEFINITELY not 6 feet apart. The line was out the door. People were inside without masks. Full families brought multiple children in while waiting for their pizza. Beer was being served and drank in the lobby like nothing is going on. I called several times from my car to see if my order was ready so we could just grab it and go, all 3 times the girl on the phone was rude. The last time she even argued with me about the people without masks on. We sat in the car waiting for our order to be ready for over 30 minutes. We have been loyal customers of Nicks for almost 30 years. Never again. read more

ALMOST GOT ASSAULTED BY AN EMPLOYEE FOR CALLING OUT 4 PEOPLE EATING WHILE COOKING. I placed an order for my family tonight at your restaurant like we usually do on Friday nights, you have been our go to pizza place. Wait time was about 30-35 minutes so I went to pick up my order, waited an extra 15 minutes, when the girl went back to check again they hadn't even started the Italian sandwich. Which the girl admitted, they forgot. So I waited, then I notice 4 employees in the back eating food off the orders coming out of the oven and the toppings as they were making orders. I went back in to get a refund and tell the manager, Nancy, who told me that yes she knew about it and was going to write them up?! Wait, so this is a normal thing here? A male employee in the back noticed me telling her and came at me with his hands in the air and Nancy had to put her arms up and tell him to back up because he was coming to assault me. Nancy said that no matter if I tell the owner he would never be fired because he had worked there too long and had senority. I can't believe the insanity of the entire situation. I made a complaint to the health department and probably should have made a police report about the employee, but I left because I couldn't believe it. Great customer service if you don't mind being tricked. Placed a phone order for two thin crust pizza and wings. When I arrived to pick up they were thick crust. When I said I ordered thin the manager stated they don't make thin crust anymore. I reminded him I order thin every time I come here. He said the owner told him no more. I'm okay paying $10 bucks or so for a meatball sandwich but I dont expect to have to pay for a side of marinara or a side of ranch with my pizza. I am giving them a one star due to the fact they messed up my order not once, but twice. I ordered 4 pizzas at 85 dollars. They forgot to make one pizza and then when I got all the way home, which is about 15 minutes away, they made one pizza wrong. Ugh right, well when I called to ask them to fix the order the employee offered to make a new one but I had go and pick it up and return the wrong one. What the hell kind of customer service is that. So disappointed after our trip to Nicks today. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the service was decent. The prices here continue to go up while the portion sizes go down. Our calzone was burnt and uneven. But what was most frustrating is the $6.50 salad bar which is not listed as "one trip" so my husband made a small salad so that nothing went to waste and then when he was still hungry, he went up for another small salad and was informed that it was one trip only. Good service, medium pizza, TERRIBLE HYGIENE IN THE KITCHEN! BEWARE! Called yesterday to get a large italian sausage, mushroom and garlic pizza for carry out. The girl who answered the phone was cheerful, polite and took my order professionally, although she did have to ask another staff member if they had garlic as a pizza topping. When I arrived a bit early before their 20 minute quote time I was again greeted polite and the store seemed to be clean enough, although I didn't give it a white glove treatment. The reason this place only gets 1 star is because of the terrible practices in the kitchen and mediocre pizza. I observed for about 5 minutes what was going on near the cut table. I witnessed an employee drinking a monster energy drink on the production line/cut table and placing it on the same surface that cuts pizzas without ever washing his hands. He touched his clothing and apron without washing his hands. I then witnessed him cut MY PIZZA only inches away from his personal food item, still sans hand washing. HUGE health code violation and if this is being done in plain sight it makes me worried about other practices in the kitchen. I'm disappointed in the cook who should have known better, (hopefully) being a certified food worked, but he was only a kid making minimum wage. I'm more disappointed in any 'manager' who would allow such a blatant violation of basic health code in their restaurant. Employees should NOT eat or drink in areas where customers food is being produced, especially DURING food preparation. Hand washing is a must, and I just didn't see it happen. The employee touched both his clothing and his personal food item several times in minutes and never left to wash his hands. The pizza itself was okay. The crust was a deep-dish style and had a tangy almost sourdough like flavor to it. The sauce was a little thick for my liking and had more of a pasty texture, although the flavor was good. The cheese was really the star of the pizza. I got PLENTY and it was gooey and delicious, covered with plenty of sausage and mushrooms (which didn't seem as fresh as they could have been, starting to brown and blacken up a bit). The garlic was a travesty though. Clearly not fresh garlic but pre-processed and preserved, they put on an almost unforgivably large amount. I am a garlic FANATIC, using it in most of my dishes at home in large amounts, and I thought it overpowered the pizza. It is worth mentioning that this morning I did feel a bit ill to my stomach and did have to vomit. I had 3 slices of their pizza. Although I don't think it was food poisoning, it certainly didn't agree with me. Could be a good restaurant if they had better management in the kitchen. Too old mushrooms, too much garlic, too thick tomato sauce, and possibly dough that was past it's prime (based on the sour notes) are what stands out to me. All of this accompanied by terrible failure at basic food handling practices makes for a place I will NOT be returning too. I wish I would have went to Domino's, sad to say. read more
